Epic Games' Fortnite, which made its Battle Royale debut in July 2017, has hit 5.8 million concurrent users online.
This is a major milestone for the game which although still large, has had a smaller player base than when it first released and seemingly was the only game being played around the world. Leading up to this new 24-hour peak player count, Fortnite had, very roughly, 1 million players online at a given time. Since the player count was able to be tracked earlier this year, we have not seen a higher number than this weekend.
That's a lot of players! Data from Fortnite.gg
So, what changed? A new season with an old map! Infact.. there are multiple old points of interest making a return in Fortnite OG.
Fornite's "OG" Season
A new season of Fortnite launched on Friday and it begins a process in which Epic is re-releasing all of Fornite's content in several phases. Each phase will be bringing back weapons, items and locations from specific times in the game's history. To start things off, the time is Chapter 1's Season 5, which means everyone has those sweet Shopping Carts, All Terrain Karts, and the Pump Shotgun is a staple of rage across the universe.
Who wouldn't go back to the old days of Fornite when things were just a bit simpler? Bonus points: You can even play all this content in the no build mode!
"New" content releases every week, with the overall season only lasting for a month, and some of the content each week might stay around longer than that particular week.
November 9 - Reintroducing Season 6
The second update on Fornite's OG season comes just a week after the launch and brings with it a big change to Loot Lake - Darkness Rises!
We also see the return of the Double Barrel Shotgun, the Clinger, and the Six Shooter. Chiller Traps, Port-a-Fortress, and Mounted Turrets are also back in business alongside the Quadcrasher and Driftboard modes of transport.
November 16 - Seasons 7 & 8
The snow biome returns! Planes! Exploring the chilly side of the map to pick yourself up an almost certainly guaranteed plane was an easy way to fly yourself to a top 10 finish without having to get your steps in for the day. With some skillful shooting, you could secure yourself that Victory Royale too.
Flint-Knock Pistol, Minigun, and Quad Launcher are all coming back to the arsenal, alongside the Poison Dart Trap, Buried Treasure, and Glider Redeploy!
November 23 - Seasons 9 & X
The future arrives in Fortnite with the meteor. Also pictured is the Reboot Vans, which allow you to bring your buds back to life.
Heavy Sniper Rifle, Proximity Grenade Launcher, Air Strike, and Junk Rift are all your weapons of choice being added back in with the update. Also, Season 8's "The Baller" is yours to roll around with.
Fortnite OG Gameplay Trailer
Are you going to hop back on the Battle Bus for the OG season? Fortnite's OG Season can be played on all platforms where Fortnite is supported and is only going to be around for a month, so get over to Tilted Towers while you can!

Pretty Happy with that moved. Played a lot with friends and right now I do not suck as much anymore as I use these old weapons better xD
That's great :D
I love that games are embracing their pasts. In the ever-evolving nature of the online service games, so much content is lost to time. I'm looking forward to getting some tilted drops in this week to relive some of chapter 1.
