New Wall Druid [Galakrond's Awakening]
- Taunt Druid
- Wild
- Ranked
Update 1/22: -2 Embiggen, -1 Splintergraft, +1 Witchwood Grizzly, +2 Wild Growth
General Strategy:
The early game is pretty simple, you want to focus on ramp, cycle and stall. Once you hit turn 4 you can start setting up your wall by casting things like Predatory Instincts, Strength in Numbers and curve out your minions from there. Most decks can't keep up with the raw stats you can put on the board every turn with help from Strength in Numbers and Witching Hour along with the fact that 4 of your minions are untargetable - Winged Guardian and Evasive Drakonid.
*tip* The best spells to combo with Archmage Vargoth are Ferocious Howl against aggressive decks or Witching Hour if Winged Guardian has died.
Mulligan:
Always Keep - Innervate, Strength in Numbers, Breath of Dreams, Wrath, Ferocious Howl, Wild Growth, Predatory Instincts, Swipe
Sometimes Keep - Zilliax (against every class but Priest), Big Ol' Whelp (if you have Breath of Dreams), Emerald Explorer (if you have Breath of Dreams)

I'm playing something like this with great success so far. Running old Ysera and Malygos. In one game I pulled Maly from the quest and then double swiped with Vargoth for 18 burst dmg. It felt pretty dirty lol
I really like this deck! It's so much fun to play, really brings me back to the days of Hadronox druid. I like the addition of a Witchwood Grizzly, and [Hearthstone Card (Alexstraza) Not Found] is a good finisher. It does struggle against Res Priest, and some other removal heavy decks, but overall it performs fairly well. Thanks for the list!
You're welcome! Glad you're having fun with it :). It really does feel like the old school Wall Druid with Hadronox haha
Res priest is probably one of the worst matchups but that's just the way it goes. Fortunately, there aren't too many of them on ladder
Just what we needed...another Res Priest deck...god this game is so frustrating lately...literally random card drawing decks and multiple taunt decks...this meta sucks...remember the good old days...2 years ago or so before Ben took off...downhill meta since. Solos are better but the meta is a steaming pile of shit.
Don't like the meta? Don't play it. I will be enjoying this meta as the best one since WotOG.
Splintergraft is completely pointless. Even if you hit your Winged Guardian it's way too slow.
Predatory Instinct is also a dead card because 90% of the meta won't let you play a 4-mana do nothing on turn 4 (that doesn't even curve into anything).
If you want draw, run Psychmelon
There isn't a single deck in standard that can kill you by turn 4. The most aggressive decks in the meta are Token Druid, Pirate Warrior, Tempo Rogue and Face Hunter. In all of these matchups, Predatory Instincts greatly increases your win rate because none of these decks run silences so a Big Winged Guardian is game over. If you mulligan correctly, you should have some form of removal in your hand, ramp, and/or armor gain with Ferocious Howl so you can survive until you get 1 of your taunts on the board. In these more aggressive matchups it may be better to not keep or play Embiggen to allow you to get your taunts on the board even sooner.
I do agree, that Splintergraft might be a bit slow (Alexstrasza is probably a more realistic replacement) but he's a very off-meta card so any chance I get to throw him in a deck I have to at least try first :)
I wasn't talking instant death as much as giving your opponent time to build a board or a minion that you can't deal with and will lose to.
Is slintergraft really necessary?
I opened him twice and dusted him twice, so I am a little annoyed now that I actually need him for a deck. I would imagine though that something like Sathrovarr would work just as well.
haha maybe not, I like him because he's very off meta and an 8/8 so he's not bad to get with [Hearthstone Card (Strength in Numbers) Not Found]. Sathrovarr could work as well but would definitely hurt to get him from your deck without the battlecry. Another replacement could be Alexstrasza. She's still an 8/8 which is good to get for free and can use her battlecry when in hand.
Like the deck alot tho Res priest seems tough and fast agro too - if they can kill you by turn 6-7
I haven't faced too many Res Priests yet, so I can't say for sure how to beat them but I would try to not play the sidequest, Strength in Numbers, because you don't want to pull a Splintergraft or [Hearthstone Card (Ysera, the Unleashed) Not Found]. Their battlecries provide too much value in that matchup. Against aggro decks, I did change the deck to add 1 more Innervate so hopefully that should speed things up to get to the taunts faster. But if its against aggressive classes like Rogue, Warrior, Hunter really try to mulligan for those 3 or less mana cost cards and removal like Swipe and Zilliax. Hope this helps and I'm glad that you're liking the deck so far! :)
Love to see a funki monki deck, this one looks like a ton of fun!
Edit; alright so I've given it about 20 games or so and here's what I've cut and added:
I took out Splintergraft both copies of Embiggen one Predatory Instincts both Big Ol' Whelp and Zilliax
I added in one Khartut Defender, one Witchwood Grizzly, two Wild Growth, two Crystal Power and one Nourish
I found that I was struggling most with the early game so I added in ramp and early game removal and now the deck seems to be doing incredible. My sample size is very small though.
