Occasionally, an unfortunate resplendent quetzal will lay an egg that contains a feathered serpent. They mature faster than the birds in order to hatch first, consuming the other eggs. After that, the serpents grow impossibly fast, consuming the nest itself, the parent birds, and other nearby wildlife in order to swell to enormous lengths.
