One night, restless after some new argument with his son, the doctor caught sight of the crane girl sleeping and uncovered her deception. Furious, he assumed that his son was being tricked and confronted her, but the little crane girl was unnaturally quick, and killed him with his own scalpel. Fearing human reprisal, she flew away and didn't look back.
