Nikolai was the last one who crawled out of the swamp. His squad's rendezvous point was empty. The first bite he got after finding a shelter was surprising. The basilisk looked at Nikolai and bit him again. The soldier knew that the venom was leaving his ankle and moving up, through leg veins, heading to his heart and brain.
