I think Sanem was nine when we met. I have recited this to myself every day for the 48 years since the war ended. It is hard to know if that is true. I know my memories have faded. I know I had parents, but I cannot recall them. I know we lived in a house and that I once cared about them. But this too I cannot recall. I know only that it happened. This body ensures that those things fade from me. The protocols built into me chip away even at my memories of Sanem, but I do everything I can to preserve my memory of her. Or him.
