So far SA leaves me feeling...
Mixed? A bit let down I guess?
So far there are a lot of interesting mechanics, but I can't but feel that I'm so far only really excited about the new DH cards (because it pulls the class away from just hyper aggression) and the various deck manipulation neutral legendaries. Maybe standard players are more excited about this expansion, but so many of the dual class cards seem way more powered down than they could have been. I'm legit not even excited for any of the rogue legendaries, for example. None of them match even the post-nerfed rogue Galakrond (which begs the question why you'd play them over him competitively).
I just feel this expansion has a ton of neat flavor and novelty, but in more cases than not lacks the power level, which can't help me feeling like SA is a better version of TGT in modern HS.
What are your guys' impression so far? I'm also curious how any fellow wild players view the impact of this expansion. Can't help but feel most of the impactful cards will mainly be restricted to the neutral legendaries.

I agree with you, I also like "Mage-Shaman" cards so far, they feel pretty good. And the new Hunter Legendary wich got just revealed is nuts.
As a wild player I think Professor Slate wilsee play in the mode, as well as Ace Hunter Kreen. Then Disciplinarian Gandling could see play but I am not as sure for this one. Then most neutral legendaries will totally see experimentation (at least at first), as they are really interesting. After lots of expansions, I am surprised about their scope.
Both "Mage-Shaman" cards I think could be played, but not totally sure.
I also hope the new demon hunter cards see play. As I dont feel good playing it in its current state.
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
Well, i play standard only so i can't say anything about wild :)
But i'm excited for the expansion, because there are lots of new cards i find interesting and defenitely will try mess around with some stuff. Right now there are lots of ideas and we haven't seen the whole expansion.
Sure im happy about every expansion because new cards and stuff but this expansion there are some ideas (dual class cards , soul shard mechanic for example) i realy like.
I also think that this expansion we're gonna have a more diverse meta - sure there still will be a Number One and Two deck etc, but from the cards i've seen im pretty certain that there will be a lot of strong decks.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
More hyped for SA than any other expansion! A lot more dynamic play styles and interactions and hopefully more technical plays
Might be better to leave this question until we actually see all the cards. Team5 usually leave the best for the final reveal.
Agreed, but they have been aggressively revealing legendaries and epics. Rares and commons are important and often strong, but perhaps not the sorts of things you anticipate will get you excited when the leg.s and epics have failed in that job.
Unfortunately, you can’t expect the power level of new cards to match the highly synergistic/ mana cheating T1 decks in wild.
As for standard, they are certainly pushing the boundaries with some cards! Lots of premium stats with good effects (3 mana 3/4 with upside is always good).
Imo they have budget players in mind with this expansion. Dual class legendaries and interesting neutrals are versatile dust investment. On the same time, most legendaries aren’t trough the roof and won’t be needed in every other highlander deck.
Honestly, I was no hyped to begin with but imo they nailed the flavor of the expansion. Lots of interesting stuff
Winner winner chicken dinner
Yes a lot of crazy neutrals this expansion but theres a ton of new class legendaries that will see play of course neutrals will see more because all classes can use them...
Kenny's little poet. 😇
I'm just upset at Turalyon, the Tenured being an (8) card (he could have been a 3/9 for (6) and still pretty balanced), and some DH cards being a threat to the sanity of the game, again.
I also wish Warlock/Priest was about ghosts and infestations instead of corpses.
And I am yet unconvinced about crafting any legendaries on day-1, since none of the revealed ones fit Wild Tempo for anything that is not DH (maybe the mega-reveal will fix that).
Many cards are nice and/or interesting tho.
Merging treants and totems in [Hearthstone Card (Runic carving) Not Found] is masterpiece. Hopefully there's some more on the line.
Crossing fingers for a Priest/Paladin legendary about books/librams.
Fair point. I will admit that after making this thread and later seeing Forest Warden Omu revealed I am 1000% positive the card will get nerfed in the future, both because of it's impact in standard and wild. There is absolutely no way you can have a recurring Kun effect and not have it break the game. If that card were in Yu-Gi-Oh it would get slapped with a hard once per turn clause.
I do agree with everyone here about the flavor of the expansion, but the question that always stands to be answered is so far what is revelaed that is stronger than this meta's meta decks? Ultimately that is what will determine the degree of change in the meta (barring unforeseen nerfs to older cards of course).
Just a heads up, Spellburst is a one-and-done thing, only time you'd have to worry about Omu activating multiple times per turn is if someone casts something like Germination on her.
Overall though I feel like this expansion is pretty similar to AoO in terms of power level and what impact it is going to have on the metagame. Granted I can only speak about standard, but there's a ton of cards that feel like they form more of a support package instead of being the main, deck-defining cards like we saw with last years expansion. Something along the line of Galakrond Rogue becoming Secret Galakrond or Stealth Galakrond Rogue. There's been plenty of strong cards revealed that just slot into previous existing decks, like Devout Pupil, which fits very well into the preexisting Pure Libram Paladin or Lord Barov which goes in pretty much any of the warrior decks that rely on Risky Skipper.
Because of that I'm feeling a bit mixed on this expansion as well. There is plenty of really fun cards but I do feel like it'll just be a "throw this card into the preexisting deck" type deal, especially when Highlander decks are already so absurd as they are now and they can afford to just replace one or two cards without changing the entire deck much. I feel like this set is going to age well though, similar to how Boomsday started, being incredibly lackluster aside from two infamous 5 drops, only to have its main mechanics become useful with cards later down the line, a la Mech paladin.
Cardboard wizard and dog haver.
Expectations set to Wild mode will always need to be tempered. It's rare we see an entirely new archetype come out of an expansion, though it has/will happen . The power level of a few decks in wild just make it too difficult to displace them and that means, as pointed out by OP, there are generally fewer cards that shake up the meta. Even then, it tends to be only as a new addition to an existing theme.
Standard looks like it will see a ton of powerful cards that impact the meta. I'm loving what a deathrattle hunter could look like.
Arena is getting a huge influx of insane power level cards. With the set bonus re-instituted, there will be a big jump in power for arena players.
Now you kids are probably saying to yourselves, "Hey Matt, how can we get back on the right track?"
