Bastion is a ability of taric in LoL.
so if the enemy cast an unit killing spell, the spellshiel can be casted and nullify the killing spell, Not too much different from a DENY ...
Does Spellshield counter the spell, or does it just nullify the effect for that one unit? For example, if your opponent cast The Ruination, would a Spellshield on one of your units completely counter it and leave all units alive, or would only the Spellshield unit be alive? Deny says “Stop” and not “Nullify” so that’s what makes me question how Spellshield works. Maybe Nullify is like Stop but the spell stills counts as being cast (for things like Lux)?
It gives Spellshield to the ally, so the The Ruination should still go off and kill everything except that one unit protected by Spellshield.
Riot Umbrage confirmed this too: https://twitter.com/CasterGems/status/1293217734956912648

Yeah that'd make the most sense, since the Spellshield should only protect the unit with it. But what if the enemy casts Vile Feast on the ally with Spellshield? Will the spider still be summoned, or will the entire effect of the spell be nullified? Or if the opponent casts Noxian Fervor, will their unit that they used to cast Noxian Fervor still take 3 damage? It seems like it'd be hard to code every interaction with Spellshield if it doesn't counter the entire spell (I don't really know how coding works though, so if anyone knows better please illuminate me). Given how inconsistently worded Rising Tides was, I think we'll need either Riot confirmation of the mechanic or a video of the keyword in action to be fully sure how it works.
When a card says "Do X to do Y," the X part must be possible before the Y part can happen, and the X part happens regardless of whether the Y part actually goes off.
With Noxian Fervor, it's clear that the 3 damage to an ally will always happen, even if the enemy target gains SpellShield.
With Vile Feast, it appears to be sufficient that you target an enemy unit for the Drain, and does not matter whether the Drain actually occurs (see Barrier), so that means the spiderling would indeed be summoned.
I think we can't be sure for now if Vile Feast would summon a spider. Imo yes it would.
I think ''Nullify'' means that noxian fervor simply won't go off so the friendly ally who was supposed to receive 3 damage doesn't take the 3 damage aswell.
