Lulu's art was a hot topic back when she was revealed, and Riot agreed that she needed a fix.
- This art is going live in the next game update for Lulu's Collectible hero.
- You can see the updated art within patch 1.11 for Lulu in the Lab.
So, what's different with the new art? Here are some of the big takeaways.
- Lighting has changed.
- Hair is slightly darker.
- New eye shape.
- Her hat comes over her head more
- Mouth is less crazy.
You can see the new art down below and we've included the old art as well for the historical record. What do you think?

I'm probably the only one who thinks this, but I didn't see Lulu's old art as being crazy and manic (and therefore retaining enough of her personality to justify her facial expression). Instead I saw it as being completely lifeless, as if she was wearing a mask, which only made it even creepier for me. But who am I to complain? After all...
The early days have seen worse.
Unpopular opinion: I kind of liked the crazy, manic Lulu. I made a deck featuring Lulu and Jinx (not recommended) and called it Girls Gone Wild.
I agree with you. The pixie has kidnapped a squirrel and is casting spells on it while the other squirrels hide. That girl has a few screws loose and that's OK.
THe l1 lulu looked awful.. now she looks much more like lulu we love to hate in league :)
I think the art in this game is always great, and Lulu looks fine either way. (I don't know LoL at all, and have no frame of reference for whether the art is now more "accurate", or anything.)
I believe this is the "official" LoL art for Lulu for those that want a reference:
Lovely. No offence meant to the artist of the old version, I'm sure they are great, but I do think they missed the mark just slightly with the first version.
I'm glad they did this, but at the same time I feel really bad for whoever the original artist was.
"Everyone hated your work so much we're making the unprecedented move of patching in new artwork."
"But why?"
"Because your take on a 2-foot tall purple-skinned fairy didn't look human."
Why do you guys assume that the new art was done by a different artist? they could've just asked the original artist or art team to tweak their design a little.
I'm pretty sure both the old and new art are done by the same art team -- SixMoreVodka. But even if it's being done by the same SMV team member that did the original: does that make it any less insulting?
Any artist that does it for a living not only has to grow a bit of a thick skin but likely comes to realize that certain styles fit certain situations. The art he did was fine for a different project but for someone as important as Lulu in a game that is made by Riot (a company known for being pretty determined to be thorough on a thematic front) it just wasn't quite the right feel for her. She is silly but not manic. The fact that Riot accepted the art to begin with shows that it was well done, it just wasn't well done for this project.
