Snowflakes FAQ
What are Snowflakes?
Snowflakes are the special currency used for Snowpocalypse. They can be used to purchase site cosmetics and snowballs in the shop.
How many Snowflakes can I earn each day?
You can earn 30 Snowflakes per day by browsing the website. During Snowstorms, you can earn up to twice as many!
How many Snowflakes will I earn in total?
If you participate in the event every day, you should be able to earn at least 3000 Snowflakes.
Can Snowflakes melt?
Our Snowflakes are sprayed with our patent-pending N0-M3LT to protect them during non-wintery times. Any Snowflakes you don't spend will carry over to future winter events.

What is a Snowstorm?
A snowstorm is a special type of weather. During a Snowstorm, you can earn twice as many Snowflakes by browsing the site.
How do I know the daily forecast?
The front page will display the current weather status above news articles during a Snowstorm. If there is no special weather statement, you will not see an indicator.
Snowball FAQ
What are Snowballs?
Snowballs are a special item usable during the Snowpocalypse event. You can throw them at other site members to give them Snowflakes and receive some in return.
How many Snowballs do I have?
You can visit the store to see how many Snowballs you have. It is listed as a currency.
How do I throw a Snowball?
On desktops, you can throw a snowball by clicking on the target icon under a member's comment or forum post. On mobile, this icon will be beside their portrait. If you have a Snowball, it will succeed!
Giving and Receiving Snowflakes from Snowballs
- Throwing a Snowball at another member will always return at least 5 Snowflakes to your wallet.
- Your first Snowball thrown each day will net you a bonus of 20 Snowflakes. This is in addition to the daily quest to throw a Snowball.
- If you throw a Snowball at a member who has not been hit recently, you will obtain a 5 Snowflake bonus.
- If you are the target of a Snowball, you will receive between 4 and 7 Snowflakes.
Catching Snowballs
- Once you have obtained 1000 Snowflakes, you unlock the ability to catch Snowballs. This is a rare occurrence and will result in the addition of a Snowball to your inventory.
- For every 500 Snowflakes obtained after 1000, your chance to catch a Snowball that is thrown at you is increased.
- If someone catches a Snowball you threw at them, it will not count toward your leaderboard score. You will still earn Snowflakes.

The final day to purchase Snowpocalypse items is February 13, 2021.

When can I open my Gifts?
You have 36 hours from the start of December 25 (North American Eastern Time) to open your "Christmas Gifts". A countdown will be displayed on the gifts to indicate the time remaining to open them.

Can we get an official statistical overview of the event ?
I'm just really curious how much snowballs were collectively thrown, received, etc.

Once it all had finished I'm still pretty curious about that "Get Off MySnowbank!" achievement. How it was obtainable??
If you got any of the five secret achievements, you should know the method of obtaining the rest as well. I'm not sure if the same achievements can be earned next time so I'm a bit hesitant about directly telling the answer.
Old achievements will remain doable next Snowpocalypse.
We'll also add to the list with a new meta feat.
To be honest I got the others but unable to remember how I got them xDD
Thank you for the event. It was simple, but surprisingly fun. :)
I can see that even after the end of Snowpocalypse, the battle is still going on. The snowballs haven't ran out yet, so watch out. :)
But to my suprise, it seems like I made it to both Leaderboards. Thank you very much for all snowballs everyone. Sorry if I missed someone, I always tried to throw another in return. Maybe, you'll have your vengeance, next time. ;)
Grats to everyone who made it to the leaderboard, and especially for being such great sports while you were at it! With 1504 snowflakes left, protected by the patent-pending N0-M3LT, I'm all set for next year! (Or maybe, I'll use them to give someone a real good peppering!)
Flux, maybe you could have a look at the 'clues gathered' for next year? There are just 20 places, so sometimes we show up, and sometimes we fall off again. Not a big thing though, it's been an awesome event!
The issue is we aren't displaying them in order of completion. I know it's something we can solve with the right database query, just need some time to look into it.
Looks like throwing snowballs still works.
That's what happens when you deploy the site to staging but don't flip the switch to live. Yikes.
So now that that's fixed, what happens with leftover snowballs? It looks like they can still be purchased in the shop.
They'll be removed along with the other snow items.
Snowballs themselves will remain usable the next event. We might have some new plans for things you can do with them though...

A congratulatory Snowball to our current cochampions Alleria and Pezman, and like Caro the final Snowball to Fluxflashor for an awesome event. 444 seems a fun number to stop at, so I will bank the remaining snow for next time!

Okay people, thanks to all of you I´ve just reached a milestone of 700 thrown snowballs and as the competition is over soon, I ain´t gonna throw anymore, so feel free to hit anyone else instead of me. Let´s see if Pezman can over-throw me :D
