Graplr Confirms Dead Game?
All jokes aside there are certain early indicators that perhaps the excitement for the overall direction of the game is starting to decline.
Bruised By God 3 weeks ago went on a meta rant with reddit and largely hasn't been playing much since (largely saying Champs aren't as flexible as they used to be aka are worse)
Mogwai and Swim typically spend more time not covering the game than they do over the past year. Like Swim used to break Runeterra with his decks like it was a fulltime job.
Generally awareness and excitement for the game among casual players and the community at large is fading.
Like at the end of the day of Champs aren't A) flexible B) win cons C) flashy nobody is going.to play this game over Hearthstone which has literally been on the market for like 20 years.
Am I trolling not really, the more time every one spends with their panties in a bunch the faster the game will die with us too afraid to have legitimate discussions about design and balance.
Case study: In MTG when Tefari Time Raveler was released in Dominaria he basically broke the game...and that was okay he had a good run and he got banned when necessary but God what a good card sold well too.
When Ekko released in Legends he was fun but under-powered in-flexible and under-baked. He remains at a negative winrate in the only deck he's playable something like 6-8 month after release. This is bad people...it's bad for hard-core players its bad for monetization at Riot and it's bad for the casual player base too.
Case study 2: Nautelus the coolest Champ Riot has made remains at a negative winrate 2 years after release...yes this is also bad people. Better to let the card be broken like Oko for 3 months than for him to stay like wet fart in the wind. God I feel bad for deep players they literally only get 1 playable deck and it's bad.
Case study 3: Yassao! Literally a ronin samurai with a katana, and practically one of the faces of League of Legends and he's unplayable...Jinx is too. The reality is that 95% of the Champs in this game are bad, and if they arent bad they were nerfed until they were bad.
I dont want to play a card game where the main selling point of its existence as a video game is being massochistically tortured out of its own design philosophy.

Quote from the internet about Hearthstone's official release date--
"The game was released on March 11, 2014."
We do some simple math and conclude that Hearthstone is just a little bit less than 8 years old.
Look, in all seriousness, you clearly don't like Legends of Runeterra anymore. There's a simple solution to that - just stop playing it. There is literally (see what I did there? using the word properly and all?) no reason for you to try to drag other people down into hating the game along with you.
See you later!
Edit - Total side note about that Grapplr video: That Tristana/Rumble deck looks super interesting. I kinda wanna try it out.
I wouldn’t be so quick to boot Nifty out of the forum just yet. We all know that in the past Nifty has been a bit caustic. It a fact, I’m sorry if it seems rude.
But, over the past few months I’ve seen most of his posts come out quite differently. Much less arrogant and more engaging. During this tim I’ve seen other people on the forum remain caustic towards Nifty, which I get. Sometimes it’s hard to see people change.
Now this post has nothing to do with LoR, but neither have a lot of posts that have been spat out there. I would just caution people not to throw blame quickly

His main posts (like the one above) - you are probably right about those. If I had seen this thread without any previous context, I would probably not think too badly of it. But Nifty doesn't just make main posts - and when he responds to other people's posts, he's still pretty caustic. He also rarely actually interacts with the ideas other people bring up, but instead just keeps repeating his same ideas, as though he's incredulous that other people don't agree with him.
(To Nifty - sorry to discuss you in third-person tone. Feel free to respond to this, if you like.)
The game is far from dead. And the thing Grapplr did in that video was literally a joke based on a single game error, probably in response to comments very similar to what Nifty is doing here.
And incidentally, it's not harmless to make a thread with this kind of theme - if enough people start proclaiming loudly enough that a game is dead, then potential new players might hear that and decide not to even try it, because no one wants to be in a dead game. In other words, regardless of the actual state of the game, if enough people start claiming it's dead, it becomes a self-fulfilling proclamation.
Can i have the tristana rumble deck
I think it was this one. If not that exact one, it was very similar to that one.
I don't think LoR is a dead game at all, and some things it does, it does *better* than Hearthstone. It is a far more interactive play experience, and you tend to come across "less" wombo combos than in hearthstone. And it's far more interactive in the board presence and tempo. That being said.... I haven't played LoR in months...
And the only time I did was when the released the new lab adventure mode, which at first seemed neat with "choices make your ending different" until I realized it was literally only the first map where you had "story choices".
I think RIOT as a company is on the rise, capitilizing on the scandal/culture issues at Blizzard at the moment, pushing their IP's through multiple media platforms (Ruined King - RPG game, Arcane - TV Series, LoL - Original IP, LoR - Card game IP, TFT & Wild Rift - Mobile).
They are clearly building the same universe but attempting to hook different styles/types of players. It's definitely a smart diversification method.
That being said, the one thing Blizz still has going for them is *multiple* universes. Diablo, SC, WC/WoW, Overwatch... And admittedly while some of these franchises are suffering, in the coffin, or just plain old: it does give them diversification if a certain thematic doesn't appeal to an audience. If you don't like fantasy warcraft/wow then you still have a hack and slash demon killing game, a futuristic team fighting game, a sci-fi RTS game.
Anyhow I've digressed a bit....
I don't think the game is dead, but I do know that my interest has waned quite a bit. I do agree somewhat with Nifty (trust me, hard words to say because as others point out his behavior has been extremely caustic and berative in the past)...and the reason is what he mentioned: A lot of champions are no longer viable. And I agree with the sentiment that a lot of decks/champions are released with very narrowly focused synergies that pretty much build the deck for you.
