Hello! Welcome to Out of Cards' new home on the internet, Out of Games.

Why Move to Out of Games?

We acquired the domain name a few years back with the goal of opening up a new community site that was about games in general. The primary driving force was because we're not big fans of the way media has evolved on a lot of the original game websites (they all seem to cover movies, comics, tv, and celebrity trends too now) and the experience on social media sites like Twitter and Reddit leaves a lot to be desired.

That community feel is noticeably absent. Also, content curation isn't fantastic.

Out of Games was also going to be an avenue for us to explore additional ways to grow the Out of Cards brand. With another property comes ways that we can cross-promote the brands and a generic outlet for games is going to have a much larger audience reach than the tiny niche that was Out of Cards. With that, we launched our first version of the site last year during Summer Games Fest. It was minimal, we didn't have our community features in yet, and we didn't post about it much here on Out of Cards. We made a mistake, spread our resources thin, and ultimately put a pause on the project.

Moving the Out of Cards community to Out of Games is going to let us do so much more while still supporting the card games that we love. Again, our core staff very much are still playing card games, but that isn't the only kind of games that we're interested in and in some cases, like Hearthstone, it's become more difficult to create successful content for it due to the overall declining interest in the game. Out of Games gives us a better chance at making this entire site work and flourish and to allow us to play into our strengths.

Our goal is to immediately grow our staff with more people that want to push a positive spin on game news, guides, media, and most importantly, community. With more people on board, we're hoping to create a resource that will be available for gamers of all types for many years to come.

New Theme Coming

We've got a new theme coming to the Out of Games website so enjoy the site in the Out of Cards theme while you still can. We'll be launching the theme on May 15, 2023, which is exactly 4 years after I purchased the Out of Cards domain name, when we decided to move away from HearthStation. Both light and dark modes will be available so everyone that isn't a fan of the dark website can still enjoy the content and community on the site.

I'll be sharing some screenshots soon on our forums, so keep your eyes peeled!

Full Launch Arrives on May 28, 2023

For right now, we're considering Out of Games to be in the "soft-launch" stage. We'll be pushing out small updates here and there until then, though the aforementioned theme is not at all small, to add features to the site. This includes a major rework of how our forum is organized, to better facilitate discussions surrounding games as a whole and not just Hearthstone.

To celebrate the anniversary of our community, we'll be fully launching the new brand on May 28, 2023 so set your calendars because that's going to be the start of an epic birthday bash.
