What Are You Playing? - May 2024 Edition

Last month, I managed to climb up to Diamond 1 by exclusively using Whizbang. I love Whizbang, but I feel like that definitely wasn't intended to be possible. Who needs deckbuilding when you can just put one card in your deck and climb up?
Oh, and I also restarted Fallout: New Vegas a few days ago and I ended up seeing this poor soul trapped inside a door:

Uninstalling Hearthstone and Marvel Snap means I have more free time than I know what to do with lol.
That said, I haven't started anything new since reviewing Unicorn Overlord 'cause I was sick. My current plan for May is to play Fallout 4 until Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door comes out on the 23rd. Never played the former, while TTYD was one of my favorite games as a kid so I'm excited to play it again!
A wandering eye might disrupt me playing Fallout, but I'm pretty focused on getting Paper Mario so I doubt my strategy for the back half of May will change. Played a demo for Gestalt: Steam & Cinder on Steam, which was pretty cool, but that comes out on the 21st; too close to TTYD.
After I'm done with Mario, it'll be about time to get back into Elden Ring to prepare for the expansion in June!
Just finished the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (great time), making my way through Shadow of the Colossus (the horse sucks), will maybe start a New Game + for Ghost of Tsushima (latest update added stuttering, waiting for a fix).
Still going with Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Had a little bit of payday 3 played and planning on trying atomic heart's demo and after the first half of the month. Horizon Zero Dawn
Not that good of a month yet.

@Lemushki Horizon: Zero Dawn is a fun time - I played it when Sony ported the game to Steam. Mouse + keyboard controls worked much better than I expected.
Bought Forbidden West for my PS5...and the game remains unopened, with the receipt still taped to it lol. I wonder if they'll let me return the game for full value, two years later; I'd probably end up buying the sequel on Steam as well, for consistency's sake.
Manor lords, headquarters ww 2, Against the storm, We are football 2024.
Starting to get into a "burnout" again even though i'm not playing much. I have no F idea how to stop feeling like this and actually start playing games. It's very hard to even open any game most of the time and i'm sick of it :(
@Crusader2010 "I have no F idea how to stop feeling like this and actually start playing games. It's very hard to even open any game most of the time and i'm sick of it :("
I feel ya. Alongside my bipolar and depression, I tend to deal with what my therapist calls "analysis paralysis", meaning I get stuck thinking about what to play or do rather than just...you know...picking something. "Do I watch more of Fallout today? Do I mow the lawn? Do I play a game? Which one: Lies of P, Fallout, Armored Core, or something else?" Too many options, so instead of doing anything in particular I do nothing at all :/ It fucking sucks, and I'm struggling to enjoy what should be my "free time."
I usually have to rely on finding a game I get really sucked into, such that I can push through my negative feelings and just mainline it for a while. Unicorn Overlord was like that, for a bit anyway.
@linkblade91 I was planning on playing with the controller without even checking, but if Mouse + Keyboard works well I will definitelly give it a try first as I tend to preffer it
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
@linkblade: interesting name for this "disease". It's exactly what i'm feeling and even though i get sucked into a game for a night/day, the next night i'm sick of playing anything again. That's the main reason i never really finished Grim Dawn even though i've tried several times (and characters lol).
In my case it's probably the many years playing WoW taking a toll now...
Well I did get around to mowing the lawn, but beyond that I've done nothing so far in May. I just sleep, eat, and doom-scroll. Decided on my SPECIAL stats for starting Fallout 4, but still haven't actually hit the Play button. Ugh.
I reinstalled Grim Dawn 'cause we were talking about it, and yet I don't necessarily see myself playing it again. I would probably try the Oathkeeper class 'cause it didn't exist when I was first playing, but I don't know what to pair it with; nothing in particular catches my attention.
Try the Occultist with it. I think that's my latest character too lmao
@Crusader2010 - Sounds like a plan: not like I'm doin' anything else right this moment. I'll become like Captain America, throwing a shield...that explodes with acid lol
Edit: Nevermind. I made it to level 12, but I was bored before that; made it to Wightmire then gave up. I just find Grim Dawn really...dull. The moves aren't "weighty", or even all-that flashy: I was using the Aegis shield throw and Dreeg's Evil Eye, and while I could kill everything it was boring to execute. I have four characters across my playtime, and yet each build I played lacked the pizzazz to really draw me in. Back on the shelf it goes...
With Wild legend already in the bag thanks to 11x star bonus, I plan to dial back my Hearthstone time a bit this month. The game has had a negative influence on my mood lately.
Got Jedi: Fallen Order for the PS5 instead but so far it hasn't really clicked with me. Maybe I'm still too much in the button-masher mindset after God of War, but it feels like timing your parries and getting to know the enemies and their movement is very important here. I've tuned the difficulty down for the moment so I don't get too frustrated in the early stages already.
Not the best start of the month gaming-wise... There's always books I guess.
I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?

I'll be finishing up my "BroSF" league with my buddy in Path of Exile which has been a blast. We ran our own league so we could trade with each other but there was no possibility of outside trading so it was quite an interesting departure from the norm. It is 100% my new favourite way to play and I look forward to avoiding the trade league like the plague in the future.
Outside of that, I want to dive more into Tears of the Kingdom. The game is coming up on its 1 year anniversary on May 12, and I've barely scratched the surface which is embaressing. It's so damn difficult to find time to do everything I want in life!
Outside of that, I'm hoping to get to spend some time in Pandaria during the upcoming World of Warcraft Mists of Pandaria Remix event that arrives in a couple of weeks. I'd a lso really like to play Hades II. I'm uncertain if I want to get on the Hades train now or later though because I'd like to play it after the full release instead of early access but at the same time, it has been a while since I played the original so jumping into II sounds like a ton of fun.
F1 2024 releases on May 31 so that's probably more of a June game but oh man, I can't wait to get the wheel out. I do need to fix my Valve Index though before that arrives. I don't know what's wrong with it but it no longer seems to work at all which is =(

*Flips table in excitement* So much for Fallout 4, or anything else! Hades II has arrived, so...yeah. Installing!
@Fluxflashor
Holy fuck, TotK turns 1 year old? It feels like it was so recent when we found out that the game was even going to exist at all.
What the heck happened?
@demonxz95 - Time comes for us all...unless we take Him down! Death to Chronos!
I haven't gone back to Hearthstone yet and as time passes it becomes less likely that I will.
I have started on Eldritchvania, which as the name suggests is a metroidvania with Lovecraftian elements. It seems very much inspired by La Mulana, but the lore is easier to follow due to clearer writing and a lore fragments interface that is auto-ordered and has infinite capacity. This is important, because both in this game and La Mulana, many essential puzzle clues come from lore fragments. It's pretty good, especially for a free game. It's not easy though; if the difficulty ramps up more, I'm not sure I'll stick with it until the end.
I'm also doing a round of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor every now and then. It's still fun, but I am at a point where progression slows down, so I'm not doing one run after another anymore.
Today a Stellaris expansion released and the first reviews on Steam are pretty positive, so I'll likely jump back into that.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that our BG3 co-op is still going strong, approaching the end of act 2 now.
After playing a bunch of demos to create an article about the Endless Replayability Fest on Steam, I ended up buying two of them:
They were the most fun, for me anyway, and while they are both Early Access I feel supporting them for $12 and $10 respectively is totally worth it.
About two weeks ago I complained above that I've done nothing gaming-wise, but since then a shit-ton of stuff has happened lol. It has solidified my decision to leave behind Marvel Snap and Hearthstone, because I would not have done nearly as much exploring demos or playing other games if I had to keep going back to them with my time and money.
...and we're only half-way through the month: I still see Paper Mario TTYD on the horizon, next Thursday!
Anyone liking Songs of Conquest? Or the new Rimworld dlc? 😀😇
In the end I had too much work and did not even finish AC. Brotherhood. Will have to keep going and play Horizon Next month it seems.

That's impressive, and a bit hilarious. I'm currently diving into Elden Ring and getting my butt kicked, but loving every moment of it. Also revisiting Skyrim for the umpteenth time—there's just something about wandering through Tamriel that never gets old. Anyone else juggling multiple games at once?
Elden Ring is great, isn't it? You jumped on the bandwagon just in time, with the expansion coming in 20 days :D
I feel like I've been juggling a thousand games at once, even if I'm intending to mainline Paper Mario TTYD for now lol. Keep buying games I intend to play but don't follow through on; saving up for the dry season, I guess.
