Rexxar! Time to Hunt all Spells!
- Spell Hunter
- Wild
- Fun
WELCOME!
Rexxar is wandering alone to hunt something down within the depths of Wild. This time, he will hunt down some magical spells in Uldum instead of Beasts in Durotar.
HOW TO PLAY?
Since he found Pressure Plate and Hunter's Pack, Rexxar wants to hunt more magic. Well, fear no more my friend, as he is capable of hunting all spells. Let's see how, shall we?
- Secret Plan/Hunter's Pack/Marked Shot/Rhok'delar: Along the journey, Rexxar found the hidden spells of Uldum. They will be useful to hunt down your enemies.
- Cat Trick/Pressure Plate: With Pressure Plate revealed, your opponent will be scared of playing a spell. Either way, the output will be beneficial for you. So, summon a kitty or kill an enemy. Choice is yours.
- Lock and Load: Mana Cyclone as Spell form? I like that. Note that you can find any Hunter card as long as you play a spell. Finding Zul'jin or Rhok'delar couldn't be more exciting than this, don't you think?
When Rexxar feels exhausted, Zul'jin will take his place instead...
- He will kill big threads with Pressure Plate and Deadly Shot for certain.
- He will trick your opponent with Secrets. More tricks will be given to him via Secret Plan/Hunter's Pack/Marked Shot.
- Fill the board with Beasts. Animal Companion/Unleash the Beast/To My Side! will do their job to sweep the board for you.
ALTERNATIVE BUNDLES
You don't like my strategy or you lack some cards? Either way, here is your bundle to take a different approach...
1. My Wolves Will Hunt You Down! Forever!
I made this deck as more value-orientated, which will result in "more valuable games". However, if you want to finish your opponent as quickly as possible, you can try this bundle...
Remove | Add |
To convert your deck into Midrange style by swarming your board (Lesser Emerald Spellstone) with good finishers (Kill Command/Baited Arrow). Against pesky Secrets such as Ice Block, Flare is here so that you can finish your opponent without any problems. You can also draw a card, which is sweet.
2. Spells are Calling for OTK!
This bundle aims to OTK your opponent by granting all of your Beasts summoned from Zul'jin Charge ability thanks to Tundra Rhino. Let's start with examining all cards within the bundle...
Remove | Add |
Draw your combo pieces as early as possible with Master's Call, which are Tundra Rhino and Scarlet Webweaver. Then, discount Tundra Rhino via Scarlet Webweaver. Finally, play Tundra Rhino safely, assuming that Mage doesn't have Explosive Runes/Potion of Polymorph or any transform/kill effect present when Tundra Rhino is played. Afterwards, play Zul'jin to summon Beasts coming from Animal Companion/Unleash the Beast/To My Side and charge ahead to face.
By the way, there are some points I need to clear out before the conclusion. I advise you to check them carefully:
- Subject 9 is here to thin your deck as swift as possible to reach out your combo pieces. Since you can draw three Beasts at max with Master's Call, why not use it as well?
- If you wonder why I omit cards such as Quick Shot, Zul'jin might kill Tundra Rhino by accident. Thus, I had to remove damage cards that might affect your board.
- This deck is vulnerable to combo-disruption cards such as Dirty Rat. To minimize the risk, I suggest you to play Deathstalker Rexxar if possible to create Beasts but don't play them. That will help your chances hitting another minion other than Tundra Rhino while preparing the combo set-up.
- Cards that boost your friendly Beasts such as Bestial Wrath/Goblin Prank could be good additions to your deck at the cost of losing tempo.

I'm actually playing wild for the first time with this deck. Without lock and load, or cat tricks, I put in 2x flare, 1x spellstone, 1x flanking strike.
Obviously climbing quite comfortably from r25 to 18 already haha but look forward to seeing how it goes higher up!
with the coming nerfs I will have enough dust to craft this deck, do you think it is worth crafting Rhok'delar and Lock and Load for this? other options would be crafting dinotamer brann and/or the shaman quest.
Having played the weapon /spell hunter a lot while it was in standard, as well as zuljin, I can say that you get such a huge hand refill with zuljin that you could get away without the weapon. At the very least you could try the deck without the missing cards and see if you like it?
Also - I was lucky to open the Shaman quest and it is super fun!
thanks guys! I have zul'jin, I crafted him a while back, I will probably replace rhok'delar with something like flanking strike, or baited arrow.
If you care for fun, crafting Rhok'delar and Lock and Load are worth it. This deck is viable as well but don't think you can reach all the way up to Legend, if you play only competitively. At least, I couldn't do that because I personally never reached to Legend and I play mostly casually.
As for your other optional cards, I think you need to make a decision before moving on because both cards are viable in Wild format.
I agree with Meenz. With lots of value generation cards available, you can play Spell Hunter in Wild without either Zul'jin or Rhok'delar.
