Gaming Insider, Rod "Slasher" Breslau, has tweeted that Riot Games, the creator of League of Legends, will be announcing a new digital card game today - Legends of Runeterra.
The game will be announced at 6 PM Pacific (9 PM Eastern, 3 AM CEST) during the League of Legends 10th Anniversary event (official site). This would not be the first new game from Riot Games since League of Legends came out in 2009 - the latest being Autochess via Team Fight Tactics. Riot is also working on a to-be-announced Fighting Game and has been rumored to be working on, or at least exploring, an MMO.
The stream will be available on the RiotGames Twitch channel.
What would you like to see out of a new card game? Stay tuned, we'll be covering the announcement this evening right here on Out of Cards.

This is as late as blizzard was in the moba scene years ago.
Telling it now, it'll be hyped then it'll be just for the die-hards onwards.
This stinks of Artifact. I hope it goes well though. I'm a fan of any kind of competition that tries something different.
Although Eternal and TesL currently vie for my Hearthstone pounds, and both of those are established and doing quite well.
If you mobile players out there want an experience closer to M:TG on mobile then I can't recommend Eternal enough.
It's F2P, which means it's automatically going to do astronomically better than Artifact. I want to see this game succeed too.
I Guess the answer is yes! I'll try it.
Competition is always good for the consumer. I hope it'll force Blizzard to fix long-standing issues with the game, the game economy, etc. If it's good enough, I might even play this new game.
Well it’s certainly good timing
There is only one way for a lol card game to really compete with hs, it needs to be mobile. I love tft, but the lack of a mobile version is a big problem, compared to the other autochess games.
Same can be said for MTG:A.
Honestly, I somewhat doubt MTGA will ever come to mobile. Everything in the game just seems too complicated to be able to make fluid play on mobile possible (lots of UI issues for instance). It's also a bit counterproductive for the game's demographic (those who want longer games that have much more strategy and time to think things over). The game is also already hard to run on PC for some players, and running it on mobile would be even worse. I'm sure the devs have plans for it and are trying their very best to make it work, but actually making it work will require a miracle, to put it lightly.
i agree MtG is way too hardcore to be implemented into mobile cause of the UI. it was already a mess in Magic Online cant imagine mobiles
Very interesting
Edit: apparently Legends of Runeterra is something already in the works since november 2018 but nobody ever said what game it was. IF it actually confirms to be a card game can it actually be launched before Xmas? considering it was already from 2018....that would be great
I hate Riot Games and i already hate an unannounced game from them
LoL has some pretty good lore and great characters, im interested to see how they incorporate it into a card game.
More competition is a good thing for HS. It forces the devs to take a look at what they are doing, and improve upon it to keep the player base. 2019 has already been a fantastic year for improvements, I hope more are on the way!
Imagine if they somehow got second dinner to help and Ben Brode comes up on camera to announce it. I know they said that second dinner was doing that marvel game or whatever but I can dream.
Say whaaaaat?

I know it says comics, but who knows:)
Riot definitly has experience in balancing games and most importantly, is known for frequent updates. Also TFT is proof that they are able to design other stuff than MOBA‘s.
Frequent updates don’t work well with a highly priced TCG such as hearthstone. Therefore my hopes are that the business model is based on skins and graphics. Also, i want to get quickly into the game. I‘m not ready to grind 6 months until i‘m able to play competitive decks without spending money.
It‘s a tough time for a new competitor imo, Hearthstone has done an amazing job in 2019 and they are still improving
Artifact 2.0
Riot already made an astonishingly good boardgame (not to mention the production quality), so I wouldn't be surprised if they can pull of a good digital card game.
Yeah, big fan of Mechs vs Minions! So glad I got into the first wave on it.
I believe the reason Riot took to so long to put another game out (I am calling TFT its own game) is because they don't want to half-ass stuff. Blizzard used to be that way too =(
I think there's a better chance that Riot succeeds with a card game since they actually have structured as a company.
Don't get me wrong, I love many of the things Valve has done, but its pretty clear the original people who worked on it and concepted it had no idea what they were doing.
I wouldn't be surprised if Riot secretly picked up talent from other card games, even Hearthstone. Guess we'll find out in 7.5 hours!
