Even Hunter says hi.
It's really good on an empty board but that seems a little unlikely to happen in most situations. The mech tag is a nice bonus though!
"True mastery takes dedication."
Oh hey it's Inspire. I really wish they'd keep using the keywords they've created (e.g. "Inspire" vs. "After you use your hero power...; "Echo" vs. "Repeatable this turn."; "Recruit" vs. "Summon from your deck."; etc.). Otherwise, why bother making the keyword in the first place?
Didn't they explain it to make the game more accessible to general casual players? So they don't have to remember many keywords and gave up in the process
They did, but I don't really agree with that justification. Here's why:
1) For a brand new player, the mode they are heavily encouraged to play first is standard. In standard, the maximum amount of sets you'll be exposed to is 8 (basic, classic, and 6 expansions). Putting aside the basic and classic keywords (since those have to be learned regardless), most expansions have 1-2 keywords. Meaning you have 6-12 extra keywords to learn. Since they tend not to print a ton of cards with old mechanics that lack their keyword (such as Inspire and Dragonbane) you're looking at only a handful of "old" keywords to relearn to play standard (maybe on average 1 per set, so ~6 keywords). Is going from 6-12 keywords to AT MOST 12-18 keywords really too much complexity for a new player that it justifies losing consistency?
2) If you're playing wild, arena, dungeon run, or tavern brawl (and also now likely battleground), you have to learn all the keywords anyways. In those environments, random card outliers that don't have the keywords hurt text consistency at literally no benefit.
3) If I'm a casual player who played the game, left the game for a while, and now decided to return, reusing the keywords is actual a benefit to me. It could give me a bit of familiarity with the new cards because I already know those mechanics from when I used to play (e.g. "Oh hey, that new card has inspire. I remember inspire from when I used to play this game, so I know what that does.").
Well Inspire and Echo (especially this one) are kinda obvious and easy to understand in my opinion. Recruit may be confused with "summon from hand" instead of "summon from deck", but the other two should be reused (see SN1P-SN4P for example)
Spice Lord and self-proclaimed Meme Master.
Yeah, they can't decide to use echo for Sn1p-Sn4p anyways because there was no room to explain echo for that card. They can "always" break their own rules. That was easier to use keywords for every expansions tho. It is just stupid.

That looks like a decent legendary! Good card

Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
FACE IS THE PLACE
SMOrc
Seems pretty good.
The above comment assumes a Hearthstone Wild perspective.
I like the mech tag. Probably too slow for wild, but it could help giving standard mech hunter another shot.
I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?
Harry James Potter-Evans-Verres, hpmor.com
I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being one of the better cards from the set. Stats are just about vanilla. Effect is useful against a board or just to go face.
read: your hero power do 7 damage to the enemy hero
Super strong in Wild Even Hunter (obviously) but seems very playable in Standard considering how many supporting cards they're printing for "Inspire Hunter" in DoD (plus Blackwald Pixie is still around for another 4 months)
Almost called this card meh, until I got to mech tag. With mana discounts and magnetise as part of the mech package, the hability to do extra 5 damage seems incredible. Ziliax will love this one, as it can lead to 5 heal plus the 3+3 out of their attack.
It will see play in highlander and mech decks, for sure.
face is the place... 7 dmg hero power. But in fact i don't like this kind of card. i'm a main hunter player and i prefer every non-aggro deck
Why not Inspire? :( but the card is really cool
Never netdeck, craft Whizbang instead!
As I noted in our initial card review, it's going straight into my Wild Even Hunter :D Throw in Garrison Commander and Steamwheedle Sniper, plus some Frost Giants for the extra meme factor. Expensive combination, considering they're all Epics, but I own them so whatever.
This is a cool card for even hunter in wild. It makes for a nice turn 5 play and it can possibly protect itself with it's ability. You can play this on turn 4 with the right board state and it will probably survive, I haven't checked yet but there aren't too many spells you can cast on 4 that would kill this guy (The new warrior breath comes to mind).
He is also a mech, so I suspect we will see this guy being used as a 'big' drop in some mech hunters. The 5 damage is random, but it can be manipulated by trading ahead of time, and at the end of the day, 5 damage is 5 damage. That is solid value no matter what it hits.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Smorc here we go! I´m already afraid of this card in Wild Even Hunter!
Not sure how to rate it, but seems decent so far.
Even Hero Power Hunter won't work, This can be still used in a mech Hunter list.
Also even you don't put it, We probably will see and hate this occuring from random effects.
It will be playable at least until Boomsday goes wild for sure.
Unpopular Opinion Incarnate
It enrages me that we dont' have inspiring keyword for this kind of effect. Oh well.
Possibly good in some hunter wild decks, Im not sure about standard ..
I'm sorry for my bad english :)
I'm still grinding towards a golden Rexxar, but this will fit my Even Hunter just nicely. They seem to be really pushing Aggro Hunter, which is good for the meta I guess. Other then that, I don't think this card is too strong on it's own though.
As much as I want this to be a thing, I really have a hard time believing it’s gonna be good enough. Hunter can get strong still and still pretty easily have it not be good enough
Who needs consistency when you could have fun?
The effect is already very good, but I just noticed it's a mech, which is amazing with magnetic and other hunter cards.
This will be a frustrating card. If you want to go face, you want to go face with EVERYTHING, not clear the board all the time.
Hmm, would I play a 6-mana Ragnaros that dealt 5 damage? Yes, yes I would. This is bonkers. Meta-defining. Low-cost, repeatable threat, with skill-based RNG. And it's a mech. Ursatron can tutor it. Almost every archetype will find room for this.
This seems interesting to say the least, probably not all that fun to play against, but fun to play with. I could take it or leave it.
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of the women.
I think this will be one of the underrated cards in this set. It's almost a Houndmaster Shaw/Thunderhead body, has an ongoing effect that's pretty easy to trigger, and it's a mech. That's a scary thing to drop on curve, and at the very least, it will bait out your opponent's removal. I'm surely going to have fun playing this card.
i don´t think this one see a lot of play, very circunstancial card
I don't see how we're supposed to use this in a coherent matter. spending 6-mana for a random 5-damage just doesn't seem like a good plan.
Highlander Hunter is already packed as is and I don't believe HP Hunter will be a thing without Genn.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Mech hunter inc.. this card could become broken..
Very good card, what else is there to say? Just slot it into any Hunter deck and it still works.
This ain't no place for a hero
Even Meme Hunter, here we go again. But with all seriousness, this card is actually really strong and I guarantee you it will be played in wild, atleast.
The Forgotten Wilds - Druid
Dead card. Understatted and requires u to sink un mana for a belo averqge effect...
The king [Hearthpwn] is dead, long live the king [Outof.Cards]!!!
Well, you can't really control were the shot is gonna land, so thats a negative...
But 5 Damage is a lot, so maybe use it as a Finisher?
ArtStation | Twitter
The fact that it is a mech makes this card pretty interesting. the synergies in mech hunter are already quite good and this just improve them. Would love to see this together with Zilliax or Snip-Snap.
I'm legit hyped to give even hunter a try. who doesnt love a 1 mana deal 2 to enemy face every turn?
a GOT reference (still hurts my heart for it's bad ending season), and a decent card. I was hoping to finally see some more control Hunter cards, and this aims more towards the Agressive versions. But overal decent as I mentioned.
10/10, soo good. SMORC archetypes will love it
You know, once upon a time, I thought that Dart Trap would be a very strong card. Thing was, though, that while 5 is a lot of damage (F-F-FLEX TAPE), dealing 5 damage randomly can often be quite meaningless; many, many decks run a fair bit of small stuff and even in the perfect clearing scenario where there is, say, just one Emperor Thaurissan, there's also no guarantee that this will hit it.
Thus, it's not a card you'll want in an aggro deck or a control deck. You want this card is in an aggressively-focused midrange deck which loves to put out soft taunts and threats, continually stretching the opponent's resources. Fortunately, this is a category Hunter has excelled in recently. While there isn't likely to be a 'Hero Power Hunter' in Standard, you could find a midrange deck which utilizes some of those cards, have the mech tag tutor this (Ursatron) into Highlander Hunter, or just put it in Mech Hunter. We'll see! I have no doubt that it will see some sort of play.
Better call Thrall!
For some reason I love this card and really want to try it out! A little slow but the mech tag might help.
I like others am annoyed Inspire is missing. I've heard arguments such as "that's from a different expansion" and "confusing for new players".
Really? Mouse over is and it will tell you what inspire is in game. It isn't complicated.
Great card - has to find it's way into some decks.
All generalizations are false.
Similarly to Witch's Brew removing Echo, when these cards go to Wild, Inspire will be added in the wording. It's just to make Standard more comprehendible for new players.
If that's the case I guess it's better. Still no idea why enrage got removed though :
All generalizations are false.
This card shouldn't be a mech. It's just a gigantic metal crossbow that can't operate on its own. In the card art you can even see a person standing behind it. Either convert Ship's Cannon to a mech as well or remove the tag from this card.
Arena > Wild > Standard
Control/Aggro in one deck. All shall fear Hunter this December.
Very nice card in general! Believe will see play in both standard and wild
This doesn't really feel like a Legendary. Cool card though. Damage potential is high, but definitely not OP.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Before Thunderhead used to have 3/5 stat, it was playable, but with recent buff in stat to 3/6, its pretty good.
Looking at this card, the ability is really insane. It can go pure aggro style with it, and destroys a vanilla 4/5 or decent taunt minion on their own way. Although, without having 3/6 body, it feels pretty weird when comparing to Thunderhead. But I think its a very reasonable balanced card, it deserves a legendary tag, otherwise everybody will hate this card even if the ability got nerfed to 3 damage with epic tag.
Glad they are still going with mechs, especially it favors hunter the most, and I love mechs.
I don't know why but this seems very scary to me given the really good mechs that we have . The constant 5 damage is also no joke and unlike ragnaros this can also attack each turn .
4 maybe 5 stars from me
This card is sick. Zilliax’s best friend.
Even if you use the ability just once, there's great value here.
Pretty good card for smorc and supports removal of minion. The cost of this card and its stats are decent as well. Definitely see some play in hunter decks.
I second ; interesting effect but not ledgy worthy ... or we missing somethin
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Of course, we'll all try to use this on an empty board, which is unlikely, but if your opponent only has one minion, it's still a 50/50 chance of 7 face damage. SMOrc it up, boys.
People will use it as a HyperSMOrc card, it works decently as a clear too. Probably could see play in either a control or aggro Hunter deck.
While the effect is strong, I don't like the fact that it's random and where would this card go? In a hero power hunter deck, a little surprise burst in a highlander deck or maybe in a mech deck? It's an interesting card that seems quite flexible.
More dragons? Yes please!
Very solid, ok stats with very good effect.
I guess this card will see much better use in an extremely aggro mech hunter after rotation takes most of it's Boomsday Project tools
Dragonbane has good stats for the price and the effect is very strong. I don't know if Blizzard is going to give us some more cards to support this "hero power" hunter, but even If they are not - Dragonbane can fit in almost any hunter archetype. And it's going to be even more dangerous in wild.
This card can easily snowball out of control if you opponent does not draw direct removal.
Decent body with a very strong effect that can keep the board clear or simply destroy your opponents face. Mech synergy is also interesting to consider. Overall seems very powerful.
It's really a good card. Mech hunter isn't that bad and it's a nice addition.
I give it 4 stars since it's a mech and can be magnetized. The effect will be marginal in my opinion but some aggressive mech deck may use it. Let's see if hunter hero power gets more support
I think every Hunter deck will want to find room for this card. It is very powerful to generate 5 damage almost for free, not to mention the flexibility in usage between burst and tempo the card provides when the 5 damage hits the face or a minion respectively. It will actively shape how opponents play as they will always be scared to have just a 5 health minion on board or nothing on board, allowing you to take advantage of their suboptimal plays. Also, this is decently threatening just being played on turn 4 as we have seen with Houndmaster Shaw.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Just imagine if they didn't rotate out Genn at the start of the year...
This card is kinda cool, 5 damage, even if random, is a worrysome amount.
If this card somehow survives, and you can get Zilliax to magnetize it and shoot at the same turn you heal 11 and deal with a couple of threat (or just deal 5 to face and deal with one threat, which is the worst outcome and still insane) and still keeping this card on the board.ù
I think the card is worth to run in almost any hunter deck (not beasts if you want to draw 3) as if the opponent doesn't have a way to deal with it, it wins the game
If they did Doom in the Tomb they might bring Genn and Baku back for a limited time.
These were clearly designed as Even Hunter support.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Interesting! Hope this is not going to become a new face weapon lol
This seems like a scary "must kill" card that rewards you for doing something you already want to be doing as hunter by dealing more damage.
Might struggle against wild boards, but this seems very powerful.
i'm stoked for even hunter.. i think this won't be great in standard.
That gave me chicken skin.
I like this card and we can consider this like a "mini-Raganaros". For 6 mana we have a 3/5 on board, 2 damage to enemy hero and 5 more damage to value trade maybe (or hit face for sure in a empy board).
Please, help me clear that board quicker!
If aggro mech hunter is good, this will see play. You'd already plan to be in control of the board on turn 4 when this comes down, and it can help you to go face and maintain board control.
If only it was a beast. But will be good in mech hunter if its good again
Controlling the board while still being able to go face is a valuable tool and I can see this being run in a few decks. If this gets duplicated by faceless or something it would be a huge problem since they would hit different foes
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
Interesting effect, but this card seems not to fit either in an aggressive or a hypothetical control Hunter. I don't think that this card also won't find a place in highlander Hunter.
This seems to be best used after turn 6. The RNG component decreases its value, but it does fit into an aggressive deck well as potential finishers.
Very spooky card, will see play in wild with Even Hunter
Idk about inspire hunter. Other classes have hero powers that can actually help them survive or control the board, but hunter just adds a little reach at the end of games.
This card makes me consider Even Hunter in Wild as a possible deck. The randomness is a bit of an issue since it might go face when you really want to clear something, but the 1-mana hero power off Genn plus this makes for a potentially huge swing. In Standard I’m less sure since it will have to wait until turn 6 to be played alongside a hero power. It’s powerful enough to be targeted for destruction immediately if just played on curve. Though why this isn’t given the Inspire keyword I do not understand.
Jaina is best waifu. Always.
Decent, that damage is scary. Sadly, the randomness makes it much worse. Although playable even without synergies with other cards.
Put your faith in the Light!
Instant craft if you play mech Hunter. Also great if you play a highlander deck with mechs. It could work in an aggro smorc deck too. Even hunter in wild seems fun to play too. Great card!
A little something for Even Hunter, not bad. Don't know about Standard, we'll have to wait and see.
A very aggressive card. I like that players are actually encouraged to use their hero power, which fits with the theme of the Hunter Class. This might help to push the existing Mech Hunter decks further (and in a more aggro direction).
I am slightly optimistic about this card. Effect is strong, body is solid and fact that its a mech is huge upside. Also it can go face, which is always good news for hunter :-)
Fun and interactive game.
I don't now about dat even hunter. is it really going to be dat op? I'm curious if Platebreaker is going to see some play in hunter decks? it's odd not even but still it will fun to try if there is a lot of warriors in wild meta
Like a Beastly siege weapon or ..
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
