The only way we'd ever see that happening is if they just made Hearthstone 2. At this point it's just not feasible to complete rework the code from the ground up unless they took a year off just to allocate all possible ressources there and at that point they'd just lose their entire playerbase.

Right now the game functions well enough for a large overhaul to not be necessary. They won't do it unless they have no other choice and who knows how long Hearthstone even lasts as a game.

I'm sorry about all the Curses. I'm only playing that deck for the achievement. 

Sometimes I feel like with the amount of bugs, Hearthstone just needs a complete overhaul of the game's code from the ground up.  I know that's a huge undertaking and very expensive so I doubt we'll ever get that, but still... could be needed for the longevity of the game as it is almost 10 years old now.  And when it was coded the game didn't have so many different game modes.  Right now, the game even has some cards with multiple versions due to Classic.

Maybe we can still hold out hope that the team is working on something like this already, and maybe by the 10th anniversary of launch will feature a client rework.

I get that. And I obviously represent a less popular opinion. I still argue that the counter arguments are purely resource related.

Having difficulties completing a specific weekly quest that can be rerolled 7 times is definitely a very minor inconvenience. 

The gameplay might be identical to high end legend, it still motivated me to watch a couple runs on twitch - something I do for no other brawl.

And the stakes do matter in this scenario. The same they would matter in a pro poker tournament where everyone on the table is a multi millionaire. 

Now, will people waste resources that they can’t afford because of the high gambling incentive? Probably. And that’s a bigger issue to me than all the others.

Regular Brawliseum usually has a free ticket, so its accessibility is way higher than the Heroic version.

Id rather not even do regular, or keep a normal/Actual brawl alongside it.

If i want to play constructed il play ranked/regular HS, brawl is for things that arent possible/feasible in regular HS, not just constructed gameplay you gotta pay for.

Missing out on a standard pack don't bother me much today, but I remember a time when even a mere pack meant a great deal, and it would be unfair to minimize the loss of a pack and what it would meant to many at the bottom.

There's also the fact that brawls, for good or ill, are honestly easy ways to finish up quests with. That win 5 games on duels/brawls/arena aren't necessarily easy to clear off if you dont have a good collection and brawls, especially the non-constructive ones, are convenient areas to mindlessly finish off that tedium.

But more importantly, I disagree that this is in any way an interesting event. I'd watch streamers play with or without the brawl and in no way does it ever changes anything because there's really no difference between this and just plain standard. And since most streamers already have all the cards anyway, plus a ton of gold which they don't need, where exactly is all this excitement coming from?

It may be a subjective matter on how much excitement this brawl generates from person to person, but objectively I think I can say that its doing the majority of players no favors at all. Of course, team5 can easily just give us a pack as compensation...and that's where I start laughing.

I’m cynical about it because it feels predatory. The people who hang out on Hearthstone message boards may not be big Tavern Brawl fans, but a lot of casual players do enjoy it. When they see a big exciting splash screen that says “Your favorite F2P mode has an event with big rewards this week!”, I worry that a lot of them will sign up before they figure out the details.

At last year’s Brawliseum, I heard people who joined saying that a lot of their opponents were simply BAD players. They didn’t even have reasonable meta decks, and weren’t playing them with skill. Hearthstone tricked them out of 1000 gold with big promises.

Hearthstone can be expensive, but I usually hold it up as a model F2P game that avoids tricks and makes it clear what you’re getting fo your money. This event is an argument against that, though.

Edit: If the Brawliseum was a special event in Arena or a one-off mode, and it wasn’t presented as a Tavern Brawl event, I would be ok with it. I think most other people would be, too. 

I don’t get all the negativity. Sure, you miss out on a standard pack once a year or so but it’s an interesting event to follow imo. Really intriguing to watch these high stakes games on twitch. 
Many other brawls are once and done - so it’s not as if you would miss out on a lot of gameplay when you skip this weeks brawl. 

Maybe they could have activated twitch drops for people that stream their heroic brawls to counter the economic complaint .

New version of the Whelp. Its effect is again very similar to Vanessa VanCleef, but the fact it's a Deathrattle makes it quite interesting to play around for your opponent: on the one hand, it gives them more control; but on the other hand, it makes using removal more punishing. It could also be a part of a hypothetical Deathrattle Dragon Priest.

Let me know if you prefer this card or Onyxia's Brat, which I posted in my previous comment.
