  • The Fury of Kael'Thas

I'm surprised this Brawl is back already, especially so soon after a rotation -- many classes don't even have any high cost spells available! Your best option by far is mage (Rune of the Archmage, Drakefire Amulet, Pyroblast), with druid and paladin distant seconds (Scale of Onyxia, Miracle Growth / Immortalized in Stone, Party Up!).

Here's the list I used for my one-and-done attempt:

    ### Brawl Deck
    # Class: Mage
    # Format: Standard
    # Year of the Hydra
    #
    # 2x (0) Flurry (Rank 1)
    # 2x (0) Hot Streak
    # 2x (1) First Flame
    # 2x (1) Wildfire
    # 1x (2) Bloodmage Thalnos
    # 2x (2) Runed Orb
    # 2x (3) Arcane Intellect
    # 2x (3) Build a Snowman
    # 2x (4) Arcane Brilliance
    # 2x (4) Multicaster
    # 1x (5) Refreshing Spring Water
    # 1x (7) Flamestrike
    # 1x (7) Mass Polymorph
    # 2x (8) Primordial Protector
    # 1x (9) Malygos the Spellweaver
    # 1x (9) Rune of the Archmage
    # 2x (10) Drakefire Amulet
    # 2x (10) Pyroblast

They're awful quiet about this, don't they announce the exact changes before the date?

Not saying that Questline Hunter should not be nerfed because it will make the class unplayable, but rather than nerfing that deck will give us yet another unplayable class.

If a deck is broken, the fact that it's that class' only viable strategy isn't a valid excuse to leave it as it is, but at the same time it makes me sad that there aren't any other valid alternatives...

What Druid nerfs would you like to see?

  • Legends of Runeterra Reveals 9 New Worldwalker Cards in the Form of the Tellstones Cycles

Tellstones going in every deck until the end of time: Demacia, P&Z, Shadow Isles

    Decent: Shurima, Noxus, Ionia

Dodgy but maybe alright: Targon, Bandle

    Yuck: Bilgewater

So it's Three Sisters for the other regions. Seems pretty good imo, it adds a lot of versatility and some skill to the game.

These seem nuuuuts except the Bilge one, which is ghastly.

I agree with these changes but I think that we would need an adjustment to Paladin also. Mech Paladin and Handbuff Paladin is highly efficient (stats from hsreplay Legend >1000) but get his ass kicked by DH. Removing that deck from the scene would mean that Paladin will become the king of the meta. It crushes every other deck in the meta (maybe excepting Boar priest, which is almost a 50% match)

I have been experimenting with a mage deck built around Wildfire and Blizzard. With Magister Dawngrasp and Grey Sage Parrot you can freeze their whole board for multiple turns, while the upgraded hero power provides massive damage over time and Mordresh Fire Eye and Reckless Apprentice are board clears and burst damage.

It has a great record against paladin.

    Where are the Druid nerfs?

  • Legends of Runeterra Reveals 9 New Worldwalker Cards in the Form of the Tellstones Cycles

Now this is a GREAT addition to the game!

Matchups and answers diversify with every set and it's becoming harder and harder to fit the right answers into one's deck.

With the tellstones now resembling quite universal answers it becomes a lot easier/actually doable to actually have the right answer for the matchup.

It still takes skill to pick the right answer it still takes skill to foresee the right time to use them and I think this is just good design overall!

  • The Fury of Kael'Thas

I still do not understand the person in charge of picking the upcoming brawls. I understand it was an emergency replacement. But why a brawl we had just a few months ago? There are so many good brawls that never get used.

Nice! It's interesting how these stones mostly offer unusual or rarely played spells in 3 cost categories.

This can help if instead of putting a one-of, rarely useful circumstancial spell, you can have just the right option at the right time..for one mana extra.

Not OP, but something to consider at least for spell-centric decks?

Made the small adjustments that you guys suggested. Now it should be of better wording, and also she's now a Warden. Also to @MrRhapsody - don't submit Thermal Shocker, because I fully intent on submitting Moonforest Warden, and us having basically identical cards in terms of effect and even stats would sound suspicious.

Thanks for the heads up, didn't took a look at the discussion before posting, my bad. So, ignore my previous cards, here's a new version a Thermal Shocker wich I think looks a lot better. Also, feedback tomorow on my day off.

Cariel should not be a problem. The viper Is One of the best tech card ever printed, I don't know the point in nerfing that hero.

  • Our Nerf Predictions for the Upcoming Voyage to the Sunken City Balance Patch

I think that the fact hunter has no other strategies available Is not a reason to leave It unnerfed. There are lots of classes that have no efficient strategies anyway at the moment (Priest and shaman) and they still won't be played if the Quest hunter Will remain unnerfed.

  • Our Nerf Predictions for the Upcoming Voyage to the Sunken City Balance Patch

Just make the 2nd part of the Hunter Quest reduce HP cost to (1) instead of (0).

I know VS said its WR is dropping in standard, but the deck is still complete fucking cancer in wild

I agree with all what anchorm4n said. Finalist voting feels bad and too low engagement, more rating options would be awesome and some 2nd place and 3rd place rewards could be good for attracting new people. I personally suggest we at least increase the Finalist stage from 1 day to 2, just to squeeze in a few more votes.

And i know it would be very hard to do, but i really wish for a big comp again. A custom class or custom expansion competition.

Love it! I'm missing a few legendary cards, so I'll see if I can manage to craft some of those that are usually good.

Edit: I was missing Taldaram and Murgur, so I added Sphere to tech the draw and Zola to have an extra thing when needed. I accept other suggestions!

  • Our Nerf Predictions for the Upcoming Voyage to the Sunken City Balance Patch

Drek'thar and Multi-strike are a given I think. Nerfing Glaive as well would obviously be overkill and probably not even that useful since a single GLaive rarely procs on all 3 hits and then you're just nerfing a 1/3 weapon for no reason.

Disagree about the Warrior nerfs. Nellie is strong but balanced because even if you use Brann you rarely get a full OTK, and also in that case you can't Shield Slam the Ship so Silence will always be a counter.

From the Depths is fine too because it'll never be consistent enough to just win the game at turn 4. A random Nellie is quite literally the only truly unfair thing that can happen and it's the only thing that allows Warrior to even be reasonably proactive. If we nerf it, Control WArrior goes back to just rolling over to any lategame strategy because they can't pressure them effectively.

Shield Shatter is the only thing that makes sense to nerf just because of how easily it is to activate.

Hunter will hopefully get a Questline nerf. I dont# even care if the entire class becomes unplayable (and I'm a Hunter main), Quest Hunter is literally just Quest Mage except even easier and that deck got dumpstered while not even being a meta pick. Just add +1 to the 2nd and 3rd Quest Step, kill the deck for good and buff Big Beasts or something.

Not sure you've been playing ladder lately but everything is super turbo.

So yes big things, aggro things, tempo things, just go go go.

Removal is very expensive in this game relative to your ability to go from 20 - 0

Keep in mind in mtg it cost 1, 2, or 3 mana at most to vengeance.

Here it is 6 freaking mana just to deny a big thing from existing.

With the release of the 3 mana shurima landmark you can guarantee that 4 mana Champs can't even be removed for 6.

Every expansion we get aggressive, high value, high tempo units and 0 control cards that are good.

    Quote From sule

Roasting Naga Demon Hunter cards because I can't think of any other way to make myself feel better about losing to DHs who don't need to play well to win:

Dreadprison Glaive: I appreciate that Blizzard feels it's necessary to teach Demon Hunter players that they should be hitting minions instead of just brainlessly jamming into the face.

Multi-Strike: If I worked on Hearthstone, I would send daily memos to my coworkers, "Don't Give Demon Hunter Windfury." I would have no other responsibility in the company. I would work in HR, and any designer caught attempting to give Demon Hunter Windfury would have to attend a weekend seminar where all they would do is try to climb Standard Ladder against Demon Hunters with Multi-Strike. I would not have a salary, but would show up early every morning with a fresh batch of memos.

Predation: So apparently what Blizzard learned from Eye Beam is, "Make it hit face, too." And here I was thinking the lesson was "Don't make 'Deal 3 damage' Cost 0, you morons."

Kurtrus, Demon-Render: Blizzard decided that Bakuing the Hero Power wasn't good enough, so they made it refresh like Shadowreaper Anduin or Questline Hunter. I see nothing wrong with emulating some of the most broken strategies in the history of the game, this should all work out fine. I really enjoy fending off Demon Hunter's aggression, including an on-curve Drek'Thar, only to lose because my opponent has Lady S'theno and a couple of spells in hand. How nice for them. On top of that, they get to summon two X/4s with Rush, where X is the number most likely to frustrate their opponent.

Lady S'theno: Infinite Attacks to clear the board while also triggering Kurtrus' Hero Power? No, this is perfectly fine. This stupid garbage is so overtuned that Naga DH players are unironically running Archdruid Naralex for the 36% chance they hit Nightmare because Blizzard made this deck so easy to auto-pilot to wins that the players had to step in to make things a little bit more challenging for themselves.

Drek'Thar: HSReplay says that Drek'Thar has a 68% mulligan winrate, but "only" a 61% played winrate, so I'm going to spend the rest of the month trying to tell my Demon Hunter opponents that they're costing themselves 7% of a win every time they play Drek'Thar. Maybe it'll work.

    This is pure gold.

Also, I agree with every single word written here.
