Lol, I mean I can like all others rate this a 5 star card just for the memes, but its kinda like the lowest hanging fruit team5 can ever make to get the easy cheers.
Not that the meme is any funny to me anyway. When Im playing in standard the minute my opponent does anything more than turn 1 greetings, I just squelch them. I kinda feel bad even emoting to test out the lines, because no matter how funny it is to you, you can bet its not as funny to your opponent.
Filler card, but more importantly, about a decade too late. Nowadays 1/3s are no longer good enough as the meta have switched decisively to either 2/2s or 1/2s with upside because normal removals on 2 easily crushes 3 health. To actually threaten to see play would require it have 4 health but thats a powercreep so obvious we'll never see it happen.
There's just no reason to believe this card will see competitive play despite the memes. It can in fact fuck you over by inserting a deathrattle minion thats utterly useless into your pool, or just be an inclusion for achievement sake. Funniest thing about this card is how you can immediately squelch your opponent upon seeing it, rendering even its effect completely null.
Unshackled Soul, Enthralled Shade & Mind Sweeper - Ah yes, the support cards to make Azalina less awful. Unfortunately, less really is the word here, I remain convinced it wont work. Its too clunky, and hinges on priest playing on tempo, which it has thus far failed to do despite the good collection of cards gained in Across the Timeways. At least these are not bad cards, its just trapped in a class that has the unique quality to split the fanbase. Its either really good and toxic, or its really bad and forgotten. No inbetweens since Uldum I think, and Azalina priest isnt gonna be doing that anytime soon.
Crowd Control & Scrappy Defender - Good cards for a bad deck probably, because what is intended is the payoff for running hogger, with an overinflated deck size from the get go. But the problem is that youre running half a deck of legends, and youre gonna get destroyed by aggro and any value deck currently available. And no, youre not gonna play this in a standard non-hogger deck praying to mulligan for scramble for gear.
Hold Them Off - Might see unironic play actually. In a control priest deck, youre floating mana so often you can easily just make this cost really cheap and paired with a rush minion for insane lifesteal comeback.
Holy Embrace - Better than flash heal most of the time. And that alone makes this card playable.
Rampaging Hound - I honestly think this card can be good assuming control warrior is playable. Control floats so much mana in the early game that this is easily at minimum a 4 mana card, and it gains you board control.
Ancient Augur - You cant go into an expansion without unpleasant cards being printed like this. Whats particularly galling is that the opponent can discover what card to discard, so you might as well wave goodbye to your win con. Assuming of course, that warlock is even remotely playable in standard.
Annihilation - Honestly, this card is good enough that you might actually build around it. Shame that it costs 9 mana, but its a rare AoE in this meta that does a board swing, and judging by cards like imp gang stooge, theres every chance you're fetching massive bodies with keywords like taunt in it.
Ok, thanks for the clarification! I'm a little embarrassed I didn't already know this, considering I play the game daily. Definitely a good QoL change!
Azalina doesn't say anything about deckbuilding or start of game so i want to assume it works 'on board'. At least that would give it a reason to play like filling your deck etc. at least while she is on board.
Azalina Soulsever - Theres no point even bothering to review a card like this now because its clearly so shit that you have to imagine team5 printed a few other cards to make it worthwhile considering, because otherwise whats the fucking point of the card? Just take 20 cards from your opponent's deck? Wouldnt you rather just design a deck that actually want to win games, as opposed to praying your opponents deck gels with yours.
Rat Burgler - Its not good, but you can bet your first born its gonna get nerfed. Why? Because one of the golden rule of card games is: Dont let your opponent take your cards. Even if they dont win, its unpleasant. So here we are, what is this card doing then? Making games unpleasant to play.
Jailbird - Okay, this card is the one mitigating factor for prep cards because it has taunt and you no longer need to skip your turn doing nothing. Shouldve revealed this card first because now it makes all prep cards at least viable, as opposed to not at all.
Escape Artist - I honestly think this card is actually playable. 4 health is not easily shaved without over expending resources and this card will draw if you manage an attack. For 2 mana, and in an aggro deck, thats good enough in my eyes.
Getaway Hogdriver - Needed to be printed otherwise Zee Shaman is unplayable. Unfortunately for Zee shaman, you can actually just play this in any deck that has more than 75% minions in it and expect this to proct more often than not.
Violet Punisher - It punishes just about any dark gift card, it also punishes buff heavy decks, but its a tech card at the end of the day. And like any and all tech cards, its inclusion will simply be niche no matter how good it is on paper.
I've also been doing a lot of PEAK solo runs to get some of the more nasty achievements, and I just got what I thought was going to be the hardest one in the game to grab.
That is astonishingly bad. Diluting your deck by 10 cards is bad. Filling your deck with 20 cards that might not be a full package is horrible. The only payoff being the privilege of playing a War Golem that overdraws you is baffling. I'm genuinely at a loss for words with this one.
Steam gift cards were one of my favorite things to receive for either my birthday or Christmas because of how flexible they are. It sucks that gift card scams are so prevalent that they feel the need to get rid of them.
Molten Gold, Frostshatter & Stormfury - Its the payoff for playing with mug's hp. Really good cards in that deck, very nearly to the point where you can see a nerf coming through if this ever gets to tier 1. What happened to spell dhunter will eventually also happen to this archetype, because there is a world where playing consistently overstated minions with upsides that will cheese people off.
Will any of these cards see play elsewhere? Very likely not. While the conditions arent difficult to pull off, its just fair cards at their actual mana cost, might not even be good enough for inclusion.
Hijacked Security bot, Gallagio Goon, Hexmarshal - Its the payoff for Zee's. Is it good? Well, its certainly something. Gallagio Goon is probably the only card here thats good, and I dont necessarily see why anyone would want to run a zero spell deck. Theres not enough draw options, to trigger the double battlecries need a whooping 5 minions played, and more importantly, you can just play any of these cards without the burden of having a zero spell deck.
The exception of course is hexmarshal, which is the true payoff for Zees. Quite a good card in a zero spell deck, but perhaps not good enough. Gives off vibes of it being pre-nerfed because surely discovering the spell wouldve been the sensible choice here.
Disguised Detective - Might be a sleeper here. I can definitely see someone using this as disruption because your opponent cannot play around it, and giving them a 4/3 which you can wipe out anyway is not too bad.
Slice and Dice - Its the payoff for coin rogue, you'll want to play just about all your cards and finish them off with this. Shame that this card does practically nothing until you play Aya, because its cost is just way too high to do much else.
Defias Wannabe - Very appropriately named. This is mini-edwin, otherwise known as biteweed. And much like biteweed, it'll never see play. Too slow, too weak, your opponent can see it coming a mile away, and has no rush. The only niche it can possibly have is as a payoff when you havent drawn your Aya, and absolutely have to start spending those coins.
Lotus Bookie - Its always the simple things that gets into all rogue decks. Give coin, yes please.
Captive Nethrezim - Not sure why this card needs the prepare keyword on it because it'll never see normal play. Like all big minions in dhunter, they're either cheated or never played. Perhaps you can prep this and skip turn 4 so you can wipe your opponent's arse off with this on turn 5. Then watch as he uses one card to get rid of it and kill you. If only it was spells and not minions that cost 2 more.
I'm honestly surprised that we're only now getting another colorway for the Switch 2 Joy-Cons. Side note, it feels so awkward to call them the Joy-Con 2s because it just doesn't pluralize right; Damn you Nintendo.
Colors are pretty nice though, not really surprised that they were going to be based on something; Fun fact the second Joy-Cons for the OG Switch that come out that weren't the default grey or blue/red combo were also Splatoon themed! (First was the Neon Yellow ones which were timed to be released with the Arms game, who else bought that and regret it haha)
I remember hearing about old Hearthstone streamer Reynad starting his own game years ago and finally looked it up to see if it existed. Turns out The Bazaar is pretty fun. You try to set up the best autofight layout of items you can and you leave behind your character’s ghost to fight the next person through the game so it has a ton of PvP but all smoothly asynchronous. It is pretty frustrating when you run into someone’s impossible build and get stomped but they did a nice job. Pricey to get all the other characters though…
Tiny Pal - If it werent for the fact that one of the ammunition is freeze two minions, I wouldve rated this as unplayable, because its way too slow at 4 mana. Think about cards like watercannon or trusty fishing rod, cards that see some niche play and theyre still far better than this one.
Well, at least the freeze effect exist, so you can actually imagine this card seeing some play. Just dont go round thinking this card will do anything remotely close to winning you the game.
IMPERNAL! - I dunno man. The effect is so unique that you'd like to imagine theres some method behind the madness and yet team5's recent performance designing cards points more towards this card doing fuck all.
Frantic Forger - More or less saying if team5 ever prints an OP zero mana spell this card will get nerfed.
Activated Golem - This card is just insane. Yeti with reborn but more importantly, a card that must die in any given turn to permanently remove it from the board. So worst case scenario your opponent spends resources to get rid of it, or they throw two minions at it. And in this meta where removals are rare, it may prove more effective than it otherwise would be.
P1CK-P0K3T - No, its not good. Next
Concealing Confection - Its a decent card for aggro decks because weapons are almost always good
Togwaggle, Smuggling King - Its a card that like the original togwaggle is probably better in wild and will never see much play in standard. Basically this is a combo killer, not a combo card itself. You play this in your control deck and if your opponents a value or combo deck then you play Tog in hopes of snaring their best cards while giving them either draw or removal. Not too bad in theory but not only is this subjected to RNJesus and therefore will 90% of the time fuck you over, its also not gonna win you the game and you just played a 8 mana card do nothing on board.
Some decent cards, but alot of this is reminding me of expansions like rastakhan's rumble. But perhaps theyre saving the best for last.
I've definitely felt that way about games before. So many games that I've played that I really wanted to like, but then something about them just stopped me from being able to truly say they were great games. Lots of indie racers I've played had really fun gameplay, but then they were pretty much over as soon as they really started hitting their stride.
In other news, I recently graduating from designing themes parks and epic roller coasters to designing hospitals.
I bricked my Witch lol. I started out with a minion build, it wasn't going too hot, so I pivoted to a build I was looking at on the leaderboards and then, I just didn't have the funds to finish it right so the character is dead weight.
Started a new one though, Druid! Playing with some serious frost spells and the clear is just insane. Still need to finish getting through the campaign, but the handful of hours I have put into it so far has been great times.
I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about PoE2. It's good, it's really good, but it's not PoE1 either.
Interesting card! Do we know if you can repeat an ammunition type? The wording "choose another" pretty clearly means you can't take the same one two times in a row, but perhaps for your 3rd choice you can take your 1st choice again? I'm guessing not.
I had a weird experience the other day. I was playing a Dalaran Heist (I do that sometimes to decompress from intense laddering), and I had the Last Kaleidosaur Quest. I completed the quest with an echo card that filled my hand so I didn't get Galvadon, but then Galvadon appeared in my hand as soon as I had hand space. It made me think of this new Godfrey mechanic, and I wondered if this was an intended interaction (not one I've seen before) or maybe a new effect in anticipation of how Godfrey will work?
