  • How's everyone's Voyage going?

Enjoyed theorycrafting yesterday and see a lot of meme potential between the new expansion and core set.

    • First builds were Deathrattle Hunter, Naga Spell Hunter, and Reno Hunter.
    • Unsurprisingly, faced much more aggro on the ladder than in Casual.

Brann Bronzebeard has been an engine of fun with Monstrous Parrot / Selective Breeder, Queen Azshara, Ambassador Faelin (+ Harpoon Gun), and School Teacher (or rather the token weaved in with one of the above combos).

Also just feels great to have back some old favorites like Doomsayer, Tar Creeper, Zola the Gorgon, Houndmaster Shaw, and Reno Jackson.  Though I do miss dear old Yogg :(

  • How's everyone's Voyage going?

I had one of the most epic games in years yesterday. It was me, Reno Paladin, vs. a Mech Paladin. We traded threat for board clear over and over. I Reno'd from one health and Zola'd him. Thanks to Lightforged Cariel and an Alliance Bannerman, the second Reno was a 21/23 that healed me up from 5. It gave me those old Hearthstone giddy vibes, where my only win condition was running the opponent out of resources.

I'm sure that will fade away as people switch back to Combo and scumbag Quest decks, but so far I'm really enjoying myself.

  • How's everyone's Voyage going?

I have been having a blast so far. Had a busy day at work and then a busy evening at home so didn't get to start opening packs until 9pm last night. I opened 246 and got 13 legendaries, so just barely above average (+7 from pre-orders, freebies/tavern pass). I got all the epics really quickly, so that felt good.

I have begun my obligatory XP accomplishments grind, and am really enjoying a Fel DH from this site (Deaddraw's list) which is helping me with 3-4 of them. Not sure how I am going to get 8 attacks with Lady S'theno! Congrats on the double legendary pack, Linkblade91!

Has there been any official comment about the bug for Classic decks?

For those who are not aware, all your decks for the Classic format were converted to Wild format yesterday. Moreover, all the cards in a decklist appear as banned, so you can't even copy it. The only way is to recreate each deck manually.

Yeah, this has to be a mistake by Blizzard. I haven't even opened my packs yet and I wouldn't be surprised if there are other people that need to login, open packs, and buy the tavern pass.

That's great to see you got a golden finley though. That's the ultimate value!

  • Which cards are most overtuned in VtSC and why is it mech mage?

My most recent game. I'm playing Pirate steal rogue, nicely fidging his life total. But this is not aggro and I cannot kill opponent in first 4 turns, I play more like value oriented decks.

    Turn 5, opponent

    1 mana Mecha-Shark

    1 mana Mecha-Shark, 3 damage

0 mana Amalgam of the Deep, 6 damage, 9 damage total

3 mana Mecha-Shark (discovered by Amalgam one step before), 6 damage, 15 damage total

    0 mana Annoy-o-Tron, 9 damage, 24 damage total

0 mana Annoy-o-Tron, 9 damage, 33 damage total, my board is cleared.

    I conceded.

Is this OK on turn 5? How could I play around this? And this is not an unusual situation, even without the third Mecha-Shark on turn 5 I would be totally screwed. And a lot of mech mage games end up like this sooner or later. To wait until next expansion when the mech pool may dillute or some even more broke stuff will be created?

  • Switcheroo OTK!

    Thank you!

Getting Legend for the first time

  • Which cards are most overtuned in VtSC and why is it mech mage?

Its still too early to say. Its only week 1.

Mech mage and miracle naga mage practically plays the same way, just wait and then vomit out stats and swing board. With removals being thin right now, there's not many decks that can swing right back after a big turn like that. But the deck has some issues against tempo decks, and they're still slow enough that I dont really consider it impossible to play against.

Quest pirate warrior is a problem less because of the pirates, which differs very little from before rotation, and more because of the seeming ease of discovering multiple Mr. Smites per game. Slow decks have little to no chance, because everyone is teching against control by having nellie in their deck, and the pool is small enough that you'll likely get mr. smite off nellie and then its practically game over.

Against tempo decks though, and vomit decks like mage, quest pirate has problems. A lot of problems.

Will we see a week 1 nerf this time? Not sure really. I guess if the play rates for quest warrior is high enough team5 might be forced to act. Not sure what they can do though, but I wont be too surprised if they decide to axe Mr. Smite in one way or another.

Oh, and I should also say that if Amalgam of the Deep gets a stat nerf I wont be surprised neither.

  • Which cards are most overtuned in VtSC and why is it mech mage?

So far while not "over tuned" perse I find Preist to be annoying as everytime they've used that magic cup spell they get size swap 4/4 priests were able to get the cup in their hand and hit size swap on turn 1 I can't even get a Murloc in my starting hand when the deck is made out of 24 murlocs

  • How's everyone's Voyage going?

Well, I have not played a lot yet, but I can't complain at all: I got 3 legendaries from 17 packs and my Fel Demon Hunter won 7 games out of 8 (Gold rank). I guess Blizzard noticed I had abandoned Hearthstone and now they want to make me happy to keep playing xD

  • Reminder: Short Dust Refund Window for Hearthstone Cards - Sir Finley, Sea Guide and Golden Ambassador Faelin

That really is a super short window.  Not even 24 hrs after launch?!  I was on right at launch with the day off work, got golden Sir Finley as one of my random bundle legendaries.  So really my bundle legendaries were one golden and pick two regular legendaries since I planned on grabbing the pass.

  • Which cards are most overtuned in VtSC and why is it mech mage?

I would like to have fun at least the first few days of expansion but at least 2 out of 3 matches are against the same decklist of mech mage.

I understand, that this supersynergistic deck works well, but this is the pirate warrior experience again - same deck, same play patterns, very few cards I face. Ugh.

  • How's everyone's Voyage going?

I opened plenty of packs since I was lucky enough to win a standard bundle giveaway and had a lot of gold saved, all in all 150-ish so far. And with a full questlog I got to level 26 on the same day. 28 epics, legendary haul below.

Freebies from bundle, Prime gaming and rewards track: The Leviathan, Kotori Lightblade, Ini Stormcoil and Raj Naz'jan.

From packs: Lady S'theno, Hydralodon, Priestess Valishj, Blackwater Behemoth, Crabatoa (golden!), Pirate Admiral Hooktusk and Lady Ashvane.

I'm happy with the haul, I got several of the legendaries I wanted to try out and I'm having a blast with Pirate Rogue. Queen Azshara and Radiance of Azshara is on my shortlist for crafting but I might wait a week or two with that.

  • Just got to legend in Wild While playing Switcheroo Priest.

How. Seriously how. I've played this deck for the past 2 hours, over 30 games in total. i've lost more games than i won, i counted. You draw the boar or darkness very often, about as often as finding switcheroo. Thrive in Shadow and Shadow Visions help but more than often give you other things than Switcheroo. And with each cards you draw you have higher and higher chances of getting boar or darkness.

    Quote From Vision136

Been playing Reno Questline Priest, and I'm having an actual blast after quitting for a couple months. I missed games where you interact with the board instead of taking 30 from hand (which still happened a couple times but for the most part it's been awesome.)

Sounds cool - maybe i will try a Reno Priest too!

  • New Rogue Minion - Pirate Admiral Hooktusk

I initially did not think too much about this card, until in my first match my opponent played Reno+Zola and I immediately plundered the second Reno from his hand (while putting more pressure on the board).

Quite fitting that the option is called “Take their gold!” and that Reno was also golden.

To be fair I was lucky, since my opponent had like 7 cards in his hand, but that’s why you run shadowsteps and such.

Murlock is really all or nothing to be honest. I've dumped one of the troggs for Gigafin, because some decks like mage just vomits bs down and there's really no coming back from those boards.

Chum bucket will usually buff 2 or 3 murlocs, because you'll never get a hand full of fishes. Sometimes I just throw it out for a +1+1 buff. Best results are with Lushwater Scout

I really dont like the trogg. But that may be just my opinion.

    No deck by WowHobbs? WTF?

  • Awesome Voyage to the Sunken City Launch Decks from Hearthstone's Top Players and Streamers

I was using Bankyugi's Murlock list above and the deck lacks draw even with Gorloc Ravager. I also found myself loosing tempo when I wanted to buff my hand with Chum Bucket so either you buff only 2 or 3 murlocs in hand, or have small lackluster buffs for 6/7 murlocs.

    Definitely an unrefined list

Not quite sure if you are being jovial,  Aesan but I guffawed!

All I have to say is that unlike other high role decks this is way more consistent TBH, having your combo ruined because you drew Boar or Darkness happens to you; but that number is quite minimal.

  • Awesome Voyage to the Sunken City Launch Decks from Hearthstone's Top Players and Streamers

    Ok, next step: wild decks!

  • Sir Finley, Sea Guide

Yes, this swaps your hand with the bottle of the deck, so depends on how many cards are in hand for more many you draw. For an aggro deck, this card is likely not a good choice, but you should as aggro pick decent early game cards. This seems good for midrange and control decks that use dredge.
