Weird but..decent? It's hard to kill so it's not unreasonable to get multiple draws but at the same time, what do you even draw with this? I mean I'm sure Pirates are going to be a thing this expansion but there needs to be a strong wincon behind this or else it's just pointless. I'm not gonna play Poison Pirate hybrid just to draw a few more cards.
Strong on paper, but if Mor'shan Elite didn'T see play despite being much easier to activate on curve I doubt this will. Well...not unless we get some really sick new weapons.
I'd say it's decent. Priest is known to have ways to cheat out big stuff so if that'S a feature then this is a strong defensive play. You also need to consider the context in which this is played. Priest has boardclears out the ass, you clear a wide board, usually your opponent will refill by going tall and then this is a good answer.
Its also 2 turns earlier. If Im going up against an aggro deck, of which the healing is the most relevant against, Lightshower Elemental will heal me for 8 and block at least an attack 99% of the time, as opposed to this card which has a much less chance of appearing, never mind actually doing something.
Both have their drawbacks, and advantages. But if I need a heal and have to choose between the two, I'd go for the one that comes out 2 turns earlier with a taunt.
Is this the first colossal minion to feature the appendage in front of the minion itself? I wonder if the positioning when summoned will actually reflect that.
Regardless, this minion is not really all that good. It heals you for 8 sure, but there's other cards that do the same at a cheaper mana cost like Lightshower Elemental, and though it does have monstrous stats, it has neither taunt nor grant you initiative after playing because it attacks at random, at the end of the turn, so its even worse than a regular rush minion.
The stats of this monster is really just the only thing it has going for it. But in a class that rarely plays for tempo, its all for naught. It almost feels like its foreshadowing some other card that synergizes with it, because its a little baffling that its printed for priest, one of the classes that dont do normal mundane legendaries. Maybe some easy way to copy it, or its lure, so this minion full clears the entire board and heals you back to 30.
You can dodge the Lightshower Elemental heal - silence, faceburn, transformation effect, steal effect. For this card you only need to have your opponent a minion. So this is heal, removal and big threat in one card, packed.
"Had this had a simple rush or taunt below its name, then there's still something in it"
It has rush actually, but it's random and it's only useful against other control typed decks, but not against token decks. But considering that this heals you on the turn you're playing (except against divine shield targets) it can have some use tho. But it's obviously a bad ressurect target. And aggro decks hate this beefy boy, because they don't want you to get healed.
"Wonder if you're allowed to hit face and two enemy minions."
I doubt it, it sounds like a cleave like effect, but you can do it with the 1-mana weapon, when you can take an honorable kill. On the other hand it doesn't read "adjusted targets"...so I don't know.
Stats does not equal strength. The current standard meta has Carnival Clown. So far, the cost has been the biggest drawback of these minions. Drawing these on turn 1 is terrible.
I like this card as an idea, pure control, but I can't see how the "colossal" minions are supposed to be balanced, I mean they're clearly overstated and what scares me the most is that this is only the first expansion of the year and they're already setting the power level too high
Would Murloc Tidecaller be good enough to run if it only triggered off of other... Murloc Tidecallers? And had only one health? Even with Rush.
I mean other cards will apparently be able to generate these. How many? How common will they be? And will those cards be any good?
I can envision being in a situation where you need at least four damage, but can only manage to summon two of these (a 1/1 and a 2/1). And it will feel bad. If you can keep the momentum up--they'd probably be a viable part of a zoo strategy that wants to keep stuff on the board. With a lot of other support. But topdecking this will be the weakest possible zoo inclusion. Not sure at this point.
Of all the cards to get alt skins its this one. Just a palette swap, mind you. A dip into the waters before one day selling alt arts for other cards Im sure.
Probably see it generated more often than actually existing in the deck. Because this card is carp, I mean crap. Its outdone by Emerald Skytalon for god's sake.
There's probably a minion down the pipelines that summon a bunch of these to fill the board. Because I doubt team5 would give this an alt art without having a card to justify it all. And also because in what world will anyone actually put this in their deck deliberately?
There was a time where I doubted SI:7 Skulker could even feature in standard. Proven wrong then. And this card is an even bigger version and more consistent with its effect.
So if nothing else, if midrange comes back so will this card be playable. And honestly, sometimes having a 1 mana discount is all you need to gain an insurmountable advantage.
The more I think about Dredge, the more I'm starting to think of it as being like an ever-ready second 'hand' to use for storing cards and retrieving them...
Is a River Crocolisk good enough to keep in your deck if it gives you the ability to Dredge? Not if the rest of your cards are only as good as River Crocolisk. (Maybe its Pirate status improves it a bit.) This feels more like an Arena card than a Constructed one, but it depends on whether or not the other Dredge options are worth their salt. Maybe you want to be able to Dredge as often as possible. I doubt it, but it could be the case. Sir Finley, Sea Guide shenanigans feel like a more efficient way of doing that, but not everyone will have him.
Its an arena card. Because if Lifedrinker actually does make it to standard, this card just lost all reason there is to even get a second glance at all.
Vanilla stats plus draw a naga. If you squint hard enough it actually reads, draw the second copy or your win con.
Good card I guess. It does have a condition that makes it unplayable on curve most of the time, but if you can tutor your win con that's perhaps enough that this card gets a second look.
New Druid Spell - Flipper Friends
Okay so why did we give Druid yet ANOTHER way to efficiently clear wide boards?
Also, why is this a Nature spell? Animal summoning spells have never been Nature before, why is this different?
New Neutral Minion - Excavation Specialist
No tribal tag, high cost and no immediate effect. Sunken treasures wouuld have to be very good for this to be any kind of useful
New Rogue Minion - Cutlass Courier
Weird but..decent? It's hard to kill so it's not unreasonable to get multiple draws but at the same time, what do you even draw with this? New Neutral Minion - Crushclaw Enforcer
Tutor is good. Can'T evaluate until all Nagas have been revealed, but just the Druid legendary alone is reason enough to run this.
New Warrior Minion - Blackscale Brute
Strong on paper, but if Mor'shan Elite didn'T see play despite being much easier to activate on curve I doubt this will. Well...not unless we get some really sick new weapons.
New Neutral Minion - Baba Naga
Is this even good? I feel like this needed to be at 3-mana to see any kind of play
New Shaman Spell - Scalding Geyser
Great card for Shaman, Fire support for Multicaster for basically any deck.
New Priest Minion - Blackwater Behemoth
I'd say it's decent. Priest is known to have ways to cheat out big stuff so if that'S a feature then this is a strong defensive play. You also need to consider the context in which this is played. If you survive to turn 8 against agro, the opponent is doing something really bad.

I was thinking about this. I came to a conclusion, that for a very expensive card it is OK to be powerful if all these cards are equally powerful.

It is a win-con against aggro. I will give it that much. Otherwise, it is just a Ragnaros that kills itself.

That's a lot of stats for a measly condition.
But Mor'shan Elite never did make the playoffs. Will this one share its fate? At least it has taunt by default, I guess.
Don't know if that's enough, because its looking a lot like we'll never actually see this card outside of arena right now.
