  • Archetype Diversity in Hearthstone's Wild Format - A Meta Discussion

I will agree that wild around diamond 5 has fewer types. You can tell just by playing. I think its more healthy than standard where it seems that way in every part of the ladder. Pirate warrior is a problem, it needs a big nerf hammer taken to it.

  • Archetype Diversity in Hearthstone's Wild Format - A Meta Discussion

My personal wild meta experience (not claiming statistical significance):

    • Quest Pirate: ~50% (I sometimes have 3-4 games in a row against them)
    • Quest Hunter: ~25% (still extremly strong)
    • Ramp Druid: ~10% (this is clearly the most viable control option right now)
    • Other: ~10% (some less viable decks from other classes and some classics, e.g. recently encountered Big Priest and Cavern Rogue)
    • Various homebrew decks: ~5% (there are some idealists out there still)

As I said no statistical signifcance here, but this is how it feels for me. How to solve it? Well in the short to medium-term only nerfs will have some effect and I doubt that they will do it just for wild. In the longer term we need more tech / counter cards printed. You already mentioned Loatheb, which is the best ever tech card for me. Remember when Secret Mage was one of the most popular decks and many people complained? While it was pretty strong you could relatively easy tech against it, which is much more difficult against the current quest top decks. So yes, print more disruption cards. Just look over to MTGA which has a lot of hate cards. That being said holding the balance will always be a problem and not overdoing counters is also a challenge.

Mobalytics uses deck trackers for top ranked players.

Pretty sure the stats are fine...

But we can all find justifications for our delusions if we want to.

I chose to belive Jarvan, Jayce and TF have valid meta decks and if I digged hard enough I'd find 53% winrate list.

But is that meta? No respect the stats man it's literally math.

Mogwai, swim pretty much all the top players have said bandle city is a problem and they got flamed for it.

But they really wanted to say is its not the region its the current design philosophy.

Easy to play and build Champs, that hit the board do their thing, and then get replayed. Because leveling is not important anymore or happens instantly like on Gnar.

You have to understand that Legends of Runeterras unique "questing" mechanics was pretty much the only reason to play this below average ccg. You take that away and there's nothing unique about it not taken from other better card games.

  • Hearthstone Grandmasters 2022 Season 1 Continues With Week 3 - Here's What You Need to Know

    I cant account for last week because I legit thought it wouldn't grant any more packs if you got it from the first week, but in general, make sure;

    - Your battlenet account is connected with your youtube account

    - You allow the youtube window to be 'active', which means you can't just let it run on a tab. Just open another window if you need to do something else.

    - You don't mute youtube. Just mute the entire tab instead

You'll usually get the packs instantly after fulfilling the hours requirement. Usually. Otherwise, be prepared to wait at least a day or two.

  • Hearthstone Grandmasters 2022 Season 1 Continues With Week 3 - Here's What You Need to Know

I didn't get any packs while I watched previous weekends... is there a cap maybe? do i need to somehow claim  them from within Youtube?

EDIT: I found the cause of the issue... i was logged in with my old Youtube account with nickname, which isn't allowed to be connected to Battle.net. I had to manually switch to my Gmail Account in Youtube, which is connected with Battle.Net and gives the rewards.... I missed packs from 2 weekends in this way :(

Please, please, pleeeeeeease can we have the brawl block mode now Dean? Not just a tavern brawl, but an actual permanent mode with rotating sets every month

Arena has it, now we just need constructed to have it too

  • Dean Ayala is Hearthstone's Interim Game Director

    Congrats Dean!

  • Dean Ayala is Hearthstone's Interim Game Director

A permanent mini Nozdormu would be great. Just flip the fast mode switch. If both players flipped it then the turn timer is shorter than usual.

Excactly, remember Ben Brode was also very chatty all the time. I don't think it will decrease Dean's presence in his new role.

  • New Meta Breakdown

I'm not sure how many times I have to point out to you that unfiltered stats don't tell you much about what is actually good. You have to use better websites. This will be the last reply I make to you until you stop using inaccurate information for your rants. For the last time - the mobalytics stats page is NOT an accurate representation of the current meta.

The only pure aggro deck that's actually on the charts right now is Gnar/Ziggs, both in terms of playrate and winrate.

The players certainly don't think control is dead, because Darkness is the most popular deck presently at higher levels. It shouldn't be, but it is.

You can very easily argue that Pantheon decks are combo decks. And incidentally, they also have a champion wincon - something you spent a couple of months whining about not being true about LoR. Two of Pantheon's decks are in the top 7 in terms of winrate.

Sivir/Akshan is also somewhat of a combo deck as well, and also has champion wincons.

Lastly, there is a hilarious combo deck out there that is probably making use of a bug - but I saw Freshlobster using it. It is a control combo deck that uses Plaza Guardian and Transposition in order to cheat out Corina Veraza for free in a board-wiping blowout. It was hilarious to watch. None of his opponents ever saw it coming. The skill ceiling looked pretty high, so it's not exactly going to take over the meta - but it was still pretty nutty. (Edit - for Transposition purposes, Plaza Guardian is considered 10 cost, so Corina can be played at zero cost, as an 8/8. Plaza Guardian can then be replayed for zero cost as well, due to his discount, and Corina's ability probably does 5 damage to the nexus. So, you get your opponent to spend their mana, then you wipe their board and deal a casual 19 damage to their nexus in a single turn ... completely ignoring anything else you have on the board or in hand ... just using the combo only and spending 4 mana for Transposition).

He might be doing a Q&A tomorrow.

I think Ben Lee was a bit more of a private person. Sometimes we get people in the higher positions who don't want to constantly be in the spotlight and that's cool. Hearthstone definitely needs figureheads though to talk about the game with the community, it's been a bit refreshing to see community managers actually doing that more. You know... managing the community. Who woulda thought?

  • Dean Ayala is Hearthstone's Interim Game Director

Aggro decks are important for the meta. They punish greedy combo players. Control decks are already built to beat aggro, so a mode with no aggro decks would just be combo spam.

  • Dean Ayala is Hearthstone's Interim Game Director

Probably more fitting as a tavern brawl to be honest.

Even if they implement something like this, there's a high likelihood of a chance that all you'll be facing is that same control class, because control or not, there's always one class that does it better than everyone else. Take control priest for example, what odds are the chances it, or any other class, ever beating warrior in an attrition based control game, who can generate 2 health every turn and is not bound by the health cap.

And really, if such a mode exist, there's a fair chance it wont even be about control because I'll just be queuing deathrattle decks or the greediest decks available, which as we have seen in barrens meta, counters control easily. So control gets sidelined in the very mode its created for.

So essentially this solves nothing, brings in more complains, and is unlikely to ever be popular enough so even the queue timer would be 10 minutes long on average.

  • Dean Ayala is Hearthstone's Interim Game Director

The question would now be whos going to be the face of hearthstone now that Dean has been promoted to game director. Let's be honest here, Ben Lee hasn't exactly been making his presence known to the public, though assuredly he's working hard in the background. So Dean taking his role means no more usual Q&As from him now?

I'm looking forward to the FMA and HxH expansions. Year of the Weeb hype

  • Dean Ayala is Hearthstone's Interim Game Director

What about give us 2 standard mode: Fast (same as now, no change) and Control, this one for player who doesn't care play a 20-30 minutes game, where heroes have 30 more HP and some cards are banned (to prevent infinite dmg in one turn like shaman otk ecc.)

  • Dean Ayala is Hearthstone's Interim Game Director

'Dean' huh? Hmmm, I guess it's close enough to 'Ben'. I would still feel better if he changes his name.

  • Dean Ayala is Hearthstone's Interim Game Director

I miss Secret Mage. It required thinking to decide which secret to play, and which card to play to trigger the mage's secret. There was a skill floor to perform well with it and against it that isn't present in Pirate Warrior or any other wild aggro deck.

  • Dean Ayala is Hearthstone's Interim Game Director

For years? The last time mage got secret deck support was during the Darkmoon faire expansion, and the last time before that was even more years ago. You are also heavily overestimating how much impact a single dev has.

  • Dean Ayala is Hearthstone's Interim Game Director

oh christ alive anyone but the guy on the team thats been pushing secret mage for years.
