It's very likely a small percentage of the current core set will remain in the 2022 core set. I'm thinking the 5 dragon aspects will be among them as they seem relatively balanced
It'll most likely be the announcement of the winning faction for the event and the big battlegrounds changes they promised.
The announcement for the next year of the... along with some core set card teasers will probably come after the mini-set release in late Feb, seeing as the Year of the Gryphon was announced at Blizzconline on the 19th of Feb last year.
I was just thinking that too! While most of them aren't really THAT good, there are some decent to good cards that I would happily craft or even pay some gold to just own all of the Core specific cards that rotate out. Would be a shame for some of these cards to just disappear forever!
But seeing as 204/235 cards are from collectible sets the other 31 might remain completely intact this time and we won't have to worry about it.
Core set cards going away unless you own the collectible form. I know this wasn't how the actual exchange was worded in the Q&A but honestly, what if they don't have a collectible form?!
But what if they got rid of Overlord Runthak? I don't know how much he's played right now, but he's seen plenty of play. Taelan Fordring is one that I like to play a lot in my Ping Mage lists. Gan'arg Glaivesmith is another one that might not see a ton of play right now, but I have used a lot. Actually I still have an Odd Demon Hunter list currently loaded in the game that runs this guy!
Out of all 235 Core Set cards, only 31 were brand new and not from an existing card set though. So with that in mind I'd bet that the big changes will be to those cards that are also collectible and most or all of the 31 cards made for the Core set will remain in the set, at least for a while. However if they ever rotate out some of those cards I hope they at least give us the option to craft or purchase those cards rather than just deleting them from the game! Are most of those 31 cards bad and seeing little to no play?! Yeah... but even the occasional Ritual of Doom can make for a good time!
Does anyone knows if there is a way of de some extra cards that are in classic set?
When I try to de there is warning that doing this will also de its classic version.
I do not want to use mass disenchant button though.
It is bugged for sure. No sure if it only displays wrong number of cards. I don't want to hurt my classic collection and get some dust ;)
Edit:
Well.. Looks that I have found solution. Ofc its Blizzard way. Changed collection collection filter to CLASSIC cards and then there is no warning and it seems it won't remove the classic cards (tried by disenchanting Faerie Dragon..). However one have to be careful because you can disenchant all copies and there is no warning about having less than 2 left. Undo works but after confirming there is no coming back.
One potential solution for things getting too wild in... Wild, would be to have another game mode that acts similarly to the Brawl Blocks with rotating card pool sets. If any particular rotation they put into play has a deck or combo that is too strong they could actually just ban the problematic card(s) from that mode during that time.
I know one of the arguments has always been that another new mode like this would further divide the Wild player base and make queue times longer. But I'm already seeing a lot of Wild streamers starting to play Standard on stream because they are annoyed with the state of Wild. So what's the harm if Wild's player base is already starting to leave?
Not to mention I feel they are already at a point of critical mass in the number of cards making it nearly impossible to keep things balanced in Wild while still printing new cards meant for Standard. So it's either 1) Let all cards be and just let Wild be wild with very few if any balance changes, 2) Nerf certain cards straight to hell to essentially delete them from the game once they hit Wild and banning them until they leave Standard (ex: The Demon Seed), or 3) Make balance changes sparingly similar to option 1, but also have a "Limited" mode where they can ban certain cards, rotate through old sets for different metas, etc. The "Limited" format could even just go off the current Arena rotation list to make it a little easier.
A WILD non-curated Wild would be a nightmare and a wasteland, just as Classic. It's doing relatively fine as is now, it just needs the same attention Standard gets in terms of balance. How on earth warrior and hunter questlines weren't dealt with yet? Or [Hearthstone Card (Sorceress Apprentice) Not Found]? Why no Wild tournaments, even smaller scale ones... They're being stupid to neglect their Eternal mode. Still, here we are... since Beta and Wild-only player.
Still, I'm hoping they'll finally address it this next patch.
Seems like there's plenty inspiration to go around this week.

Twilight Hammer's Den doesn't seem like it needs to be spread out, since it already doesn't give any immediate benefits.
Wave of Ooze is okay, but I feel like it should really belong to Warlock or Warrior.
Sigil of Momentum is my favorite. It's quite unique and doesn't seem OP, since you have to pay upfront.
Wailor
I feel like this should probably be a Dormant minion.
Demonxc95
Voodoo Grounds is good, but indeed not very original.
Icewing Bunker is definitely more original, but I'm not sure how to balance its cost.
BasilAnguis
The Questline phrases it as "Deal damage with 2 spells.", so this is fine. I like how the effect works, although I'm not sure 1 damage makes this card worth it to me.
Buried in Ice is simple, but still a good option.
I'm not sure how I feel about Pacifism. I know Druid uses Taunt, but they also have a lack of removals and I'm not sure how often the draw will be worth it. I also don't like that it affects your opponent, which should probably make it a 1-cost.
BloodMefist
I like both of these. Rain of Chaos is very interesting, but needs a few turns to get strong and could backfire, but it's still a great control tool. I like Massive Hoard slightly better, because it seems really fun.
A daring 0-cost. It fits Arcane's resourcefulness perfectly. Normally it would be a bit unconventional, which is how I got the inspiration for this prompt.
Works like Tracking, but you'll have to get the draw yourself. The counter shows how many uses it gives and how many have already triggered.
BloodMefist - I like Rain of Chaos: it's a good play on the Warcraft III subtitle, while also being a neat ramp-up clear.
BasilAnguis - I like Freeze Shaman a lot, but Freeze Mage is a pain in the ass; I think they're doing different things, though, which is where the hatred partially stems from. Shaman is (supposed to be) playing for the board, while the Mage is just stalling for its OTK. Anyway, I like Pacifism the most even though you can circumvent the condition with hero attacks.
Demonxz95 - Voodoo Grounds could win the whole thing, but that would be very disappointing to me because I think it's too on-the-nose. "They gave the Rogue Baron Rivendare; I'll give the Shaman Brann Bronzebeard." It's low-hanging fruit :/ Icewing Bunker is more interesting, IMO, giving the Warrior some draw.
Wailor - I believe the "three" should be a number, but beyond that it's a neat idea. The payoff is way too low for such a long time to wait, in my opinion; one of those should be fixed. I'd lower the turn count, as you suggested.
The first one is an ode to the most fun aspects of Thief Rogue and an homage to Dragon's Hoard. The second is a bit more out there, caring about how long it has been on the board and ramping in intensity.
3 ideas for this! Buried in Ice is probably gonna get hated because people hate freeze mage and frost in general (hello shaman). Cover Fire might be broken with the quest, but i envision since it's only 1 spell only the first time it deals damage counts. Pacifism is my favorite but might not be everyone's flavor.
Two Shaman ideas for this week, both placed in earlier expansions:
Shaman never got a C'Thun card for whatever reason, so I gave it one in Twilight Hammer's Den. Wave of Ooze is a Control card to deny stuff like Dudeadin, Zoolock or a Hunter summoning a bunch of small Beasts. Edit: Added in a Sigil, Sigil of Momentum. Finding art for Sigils is hard, with the added difficulty of trying to phrase it right. My example is, if you have 7 Attack at the end of your current turn, next turn you would go back up to 7 Attack again for that turn (before adding in anything else). You carried your momentum into the next swing.
Not sure how I feel about using the "Lasts X turns" formatting since it didn't exist back then, but it definitely allows me room to fit the effect. When I came up with two Alraune cards using a multi-turn effect over a year ago, I explained the whole thing more verbosely:
[Game] Card Treasure Hunt (Hearthstone Riddles)
Right class, wrong card.

The new dragon aspects like Alexstrasza the Life-Binder, I expect those will stick around. Enslaved Fel Lord could disappear and I don't think anyone would ever miss it. Maybe the same for Felsoul Jailer.

So does this mean if a card made for the core set (Korvas/taelin the new dragon ascpects) would leave we'd have to craft it then?
