Not sure if I understand that deck correctly... survive long enough to have an owl trigger it's DR, then flood board with imps, Phylatery them and finally play School Spirits?
I guess the confusion is on how to survive and get a lot of imps on board plus combo in one turn.
Edit: Ahh, the rod. Would love to see this deck in action. Seems hard to survive long enough.
So far haven't faced any quest decks of old. On launch day I played quest warrior coz needed 1 more win for weekly quest to get extra gold for packs, glad to say I got rekt and ended up just making new decks anyway to get the win.
It's still quite early but having so much fun with big beast hunter and Wing Commander Ichman, thought he was going to be terrible but he's not bad.
Plenty other control decks like deathrattle priest and big paladin that are seeing success. Can't win against paladin once they play Lightforged Cariel. Need to start adding weapon tech to all my decks now
The achievement bugs are annoying, but they're nowhere near as bad as the animation bugs. Several times on mobile I've had to restart the game after my opponent played Celestial Alignment because the game just starts strobing the animation, the Secret Passage animation has often stalled out on me across platforms, and the Sleight of Hand hero power animation seems to trigger more times the more you use it (e.g. the first time you might get one animation, the next time you get several, etc.). And that's just from my games yesterday playing Burgle Rogue - who knows how many other bugs like that are floating around and they all cut into your turn time.
Played 5 games this morning to complete quests and went 0-5 against exclusively Quest Mage and Pirate Warrior, yet again not a single new card detected in any of the games.
"Immune for 1 turn" lasts until the start of next turn, which I don't think is intended. It should be replaced with "Immune this turn" or Divine Shield.
Right now it would be a guaranteed 5 minion damage (+ 5 minion/face damage if you got the HK on the previous turn) + a 5/1 Charge.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I'm just not sure which idea to submit now... Charon is also being well-received, but I still like how clean and simple Fierce Cub is.
My idea with the Cub was that it gets a bit too reckless, but as long as it manages to get a clean kill, it can return to the safety of the pack (It makes sense in my head and many cards are a bit far-fetched). It also fits the expansion better. But I understand if others disagree with that first point and apparently there's a lot of love for HP Mage. I'm just a bit scared most voters will find Charon too complex to do well in the comp.

I wasn't happy with that 'give windfury to neighbours' minion before, and especially not with Mr. Smite. It went from 'setup up a two turn kill' by getting two big minions, to just OTK with charge (a weapon rogue with pirates, nice). And now warlock can do a OTK as well? It's not much fun, I'll skip for a while.
Very nice, also had a similar deck coz all the new freeze shaman cards are pretty great and locks out any weapon based decks.
Kind of like how all the discovers and random card generation is locked down to just commons and rares too. Just shows Blizzard has the technology to make these brawl blocks it's own game mode.
I did the research yesterday and played it against a Pirate Warrior who got the Juggernaut online pretty early. It took some time, but I actually managed to outvalue him in the end. Galakrond was not fully upgraded when I had to play him, both Macaws had to be played with a weak but necessary battlecry so I only got one Shudderwock turn. And it still worked out!
All in all it looks like Pirate Warrior has gotten into trouble. Handbuff Paladin has a decent chance against them as well, they just can't deal with a 20/20 Saidan the Scarlet and Shadowburst Priest has already had a decent winrate against Garrosh before Alterac hit.
Humongous Owl Warlock looks like a problem. It just cycles through the deck so fast while having such good removal and healing options that allow it to stall the game. I played it yesterday and I was able to stave off some Face Hunters and Token Druids, and that's without havingDreadlich Tamsin in my deck. Though it seems like midrange decks that can continually pressure it will be its weakness, since I had a hard time beating Quest Warriors and the new Elemental Shamans. Still, expect a nerf to Humongous Owl soon (maybe its deathrattle only hits minions) because the consistency of this deck will just kill any other slower strategies.
That's a hard sell, because unlike quest fatiguelock, owlock can actually be disrupted by something like Mutanus. Either take down the owl, or Tamsin Roame, both can do quite severe damage to the deck's consistency. Sometimes even just vipering the weapon goes a long way (interesting enough, some limited data in hsreplay seems to suggest a high played win rate for viper).
A bigger problem is actually Dreadlich Tamsin itself. Draw 3, and sometimes fill the board with 3/3s for 6 mana? Like considering the effects of comparable heros like tavish, this is extraordinary. There's argument right now to simply just stick tamsin in every warlock deck possible, even quest handlock and fatiguelock itself, despite the anti-synergy. Im not asking for this deck or this specific hero to be nerfed, just a perspective. Because Ive a harder time trying to sustain pressure against warlock with so many random 3/3s coming out of nowhere.
Overall, I am having fun with this expansion start. Admitably I can see some problems in the making (dreadlich tamsin, the sheer amount of freezes in shaman, etc.), but its a very far cry from the stormwind expansion, which is a good thing.

Speaking of killing slower strategies, I'm still worried about the questlines...I'm pretty sure Questline Handlock will rise to top tier again, all you have to do is insert Dreadlich Tamsin in that deck and it'll still perform the same, possibly even better.
Overall, I had a fun first day with the new expansion. I played some Deathrattle Big Priest with the questline, which kinda sucks especially with the Owl OTK around, and Anacondra Druid with Wildheart Guff, which also sucked. I've yet to try Freeze Shaman, just waiting for the meta to settle before I craft the needed legendaries for it.
Swizard my friend... When I thought I had seen everything...
My 1st game with this deck (with a couple changes due to not having (yet) Bearon and Snobolds) has been one of, if not THE most fun game I've had in HS in a looooong time. I went against a Big Priest, started developing some board and freezing his so that he could never attack. Then at turn 8 I dropped by big shiny (golden) bomb Bru'kan of the Elements that I subbed for the Bearon. Man...
My Brann stuck at the board allowing for some hilarious plays, like a 23/23 Snowfall Guardian and some obscene Shudderwock plays. How did I kill him? Bru'kan's constant 2 dmg AoEs to his endless waves of creatures and 6 dmg iceballs to the face!! He even Psychic Scream'ed me just to face ANOTHER Shudderwock lol.
When you get Bru'kan give him a try. Bearon looks awesome summoning a board of 3/4s but you need an additional turn for the kill and can be wrecked by AoEs. Bru'kan can give you the edge to win with accidental iceballs to the face! Snobolds seem to be a must but can wipe your board too after a Shudder. Trying Marshspawns in the meantime.
EDIT: 2nd game. Win against Evenlock. Just pure efficiency on board, freezing his and finishing turn 8 with fully upgraded Galakrond and hitting face with two 8/8s. Glorious.
Thanks for nice guide. Have not played it, but after I read most of the article, it looks really good with fun synergies. Cheaty Snobold increasing damage with freezes seems strong.
I might go as far as to say that it might become a meta breaker maybe?
Reading how many freezes it can output, it can stop maaany board based decks, maybe even Pirate Warrior? (Pirate Warrior lacks burst damage, so if it gets frozen... it cant do much, unless it completed the quest)
it kinda does what it is meant to do but I feel like the build will work way better with Poppy than it does with Zed.
Also Yordle Captain is a unit that works very well in this build
In general Ahri looks very flashy. Currently I am experiementing with Ahri played in Targon (recalling and playing Solari Sunhawk multiple times really slows down the opponent well while The Serpent is a nice way to give Ahri challenger and have a unit that you can recall without losing mana.

FiAV Pack Opening Day
I've opened 57-ish Alterac packs since launch. 4 legendaries which is a better rate than usual and strong ones as well: Lightforged Cariel, Dreadlich Tamsin, Shadowcrafter Scabbs and (well...) Najak Hexxen. Looking forward to my freebie at lvl 20 later today.
Also 12 epics which feels avarage at it's best, including double Ur'zul Giant, The Lobotomizer, Mass Polymorph and Spring the Trap. Weirdly enough I'm still missing 5 Rares or so...
Gotta love the complaining
