Yes, because nerfing owl in some way (deathrattle proc, only targeting minions and not ALL characters) only nerfs that specific combo. Part of the 'problem' of OwlTK is that it enables the deck to do an obscene amount of lethal damage from hand. You could argue that Rune Mithril Rod is the worst part of the combo (and in some ways it is, cost reduction effects have been proving for awhile now to be the most egregious parts of any combo that is gamebreaking) but it didn't exist before. The primary method of preventing this OTK is to nerf Owl in some way that prevents the combo from existing, and then seeing if further tweaking is necessary.
Personally I plan on making a Rustwix version of the deck for funsies.
also Vol'Jin's task 16 is still bugged in mercenaries, you cant get a task for him. Stranger igrores him. This is present in the game since 3 December or so.
Honestly, I think it is too early to decide whether or not OTK Warlock is an issue. It absolutely crumples to Libram Paladin and Quest Mage, and I imagine once people start playing Face Hunter it will suffer even more. Currently I feel like it is only good against grindy decks who win through attrition.
Greetings everyone, and welcome to the submission thread of fifth challenge of Master Duelist!
General Information
This challenge will begin today, December 10th, and will end on December 31st. During this window of time, you'll have to start a Duels run with a starting deck including at least 6 Fractured in Alterac Valley cards: both class and neutral cards are good!
Everyone who'll post proof of a 7+ wins run in this article's comment section will be awarded with a different amount of gold, an in-site currency you'll be able to earn from different activities and that will be used to purchase cosmetics in our in-site shop.
Submission Rules
In order for your run to count towards the challenge, you'll have to provide an appropriate proof of your feat; otherwise, your result won't count. To be precise, you will have to reply to this forum thread including:
a picture of how your run ended;
a picture of your starting deck;
a picture(s) of your final deck.
any other information you want: even though it's not necessary, it may help other players or generate a discussion!
you can submit as many runs as you want: we'll always pick the best one. Don't be afraid to show what you experimented with: let's start a discussion here!
Remember that we have to make sure you actually played following the rules, so please help us in doing so - disqualifying players feels bad, and we'd want to avoid it if possible! No exceptions will be made.
Challenge Rewards
Here's a quick breakdown explaining the rewards you'll receive based on your performances:

Time Criteria
Those which follow are the time criteria we'll use to determine the winner in case of identical scores:
An Heroic run will be considered more difficult than a Casual one, therefore Heroic players will have the priority.
If you get the best score overall with a 10-wins run in Casual and somebody else gets a 10-wins run in Heroic, the latter will be the winner of the challenge.
In case of more people getting the same score, the winner will be decided by the submission time.
If more players will get to 12 wins, losses will count as well: a 12-0 will be considered better than a 12-2 or a 12-1.
You could get the highest score on the first day as well as on the last day of the challenge, but if someone submits the same score before you do, then they'll be the winner.

I havent played a ton of games but I have actually only seen old decks (mainly Quest Mage, Pirate Warrior and Aggro Druid). Must just be the MMR bracket I'm in or bad luck queueing into people just worried about ranking up.
Well, this time I was very unlucky. I´ve opened 58 packs (8 free, 50 with gold) and opened 2 legendaries and 11 epics (two doubles). The 7th pack gave me Wing Commander Mulverick, then I had to wait to hit the pity timer, so 47th pack gave me Dreadlich Tamsin. That left me with 11 packs with.. well, nothing really. I guess I´ve hit the bare minimum, kinda dissapointed, but at least I got all the common and rares. I will keep buying packs until I open another legendary and start to save for another expansion I guess lol.
I saw one of those my first game: I froze out the Kobold when it appeared, forcing her to kill it herself. You can also Freeze the Rogue to make the Necrium Blade's Deathrattle suboptimal. Do what you can to make her objective spell a low-value play: she barely could do anything while it was up, making it much easier.
Ultimately the game went kind of slowly because I couldn't find my board generators, but I won handily.
I haven’t played against that deck much at all, but try to make your own huge minions with the help of Brann, Bolner, Snowfall Guardians and Parrot and then remove their board. I think you may be able to outvalue them. Flurgl and Toxfin is also huge in that matchup.
I've certainly seen fewer Questline Warlock decks than before launch, but I've still seen a lot (particularly after Day 1). And Humongous Owl Warlock is a problem for basically the same reason Questline Warlock is a problem - Warlock has way too much card draw, making the deck super consistent and way too good against slower, value-oriented decks. Maybe one overtakes the other, or maybe both continue to see play - I doubt it makes much of a difference for the metagame, because both warp it in much the same way.
Not saying it should be nerfed just yet, but one potential nerf to the Owl deck that I actually think would just make a ton of sense would be to remove the Shadow school from Tamsin's Phylactery. A lich's phylactery is magical, but it's still a physical object - lots of other spells that represent mystical items have no spell school (e.g. Skull of Gul'dan, Moontouched Amulet, Deck of Lunacy). There are certainly counterexamples (Soul Mirror, Amulet of Undying, The Dark Portal), so I guess Blizzard likes to do this in part for flavor and in part for balance. If the deck is getting out of hand, this seems like an easy tweak that could be made to remove the possibility of a free copy from Tamsin Roame, which would make the deck easier to disrupt.
Mo'arg Artificer can help with survival by pairing it with Drain Soul and to a lesser extent, Touch of the Nathrezim. Although it can also help with survival if you pair it with AoE since then you've got nothing scary to attack you.
But yeah, Rod is overpowered! Yay cost-reduction =/

If you can't think of another way to use it, you probably shouldn't craft it.

This deck is so much fun. Thanks for sharing!
@Siegfrieddo - Cheaty Snobold only deals damage to enemies. Definitely worth the craft if possible, as it's crazy powerful.

Ah... knew I was missing something important when a new expansion launches... the game board!
What is the Alterac Valley Meta going to be?
Neo burgle Rogue has actually surprised me in it's efficiency and fun factor. Two 3/3's on turn two? Sign me up!
Also has made Scabbs and Maestra playable... Which is amazing in it's own right.

Still can't disenchant my non-golden Drek'thar. Are you serious Blizzard? We supposed to get them for free, and yet, it opens on first legendary.
I think it's not a coincidence. The odds too great. 1 out of 24 legendaries.
Update. It's disenchantable now. But still sucks losing 3/4 dust.

Great deck. Only played 3 games but having a blast. Resurrecting Leper Gnomes and Kobold Sandtroops really let the OddQ Hunter consider. Thumbs up.

Regarding early crafting, Dreadlich Tamsin will probably be good in other decks, but if Humongous Owl gets nerfed will Tamsin's Phylactery still be good?

I have the small hope, that the owl deck is only a temporary phenomenon until other decks are more refined.
