I would only do that if you already own all the legendary mercs and want to max out a specific one as soon as possible.
The value of getting a new task for a merc, even if the merc is on task #1, is way greater than getting 15 coins for a specific merc, because a task that rewards a lot of coins for a random merc is always way more value than getting 15 specific coins.
Missing out on a new task for 15 measly coins is not good IMHO.
There are plenty of ways to build a Leona/Demacia deck, the most successful one is Leona/A.Sol. Your basic gameplan is to stale with Daybreak unit's like Leona, Solari Sunhawk, Solari Sunforger and cheat an A.sol ( who now levels very quickly ) on turn 8 with Eclipse Dragon effect. The deck can also withstand early aggression and put pressure on slower midrange deck with Solari Soldier and Solari Shieldbearer.
I have completed all tasks (there are 18 in total) for Xyrella, Samuro and Cariel.
It's a resounding YES the most efficient way to earn coins and craft missing mercs (even legendaries) is spamming tasks. I'd say it's even better than opening packs.
If you target certain bounties, you may get coins for the one you need maybe once every 3 runs, and even then you can get lucky and get 40 coins or just get 15, so bounty targeting is WAY too luck based.
With tasks you are guaranteed to get up to 40 legendary coins in one go, and legendaries proc pretty often. Tasks are the way to go for sure.
I only target specific bosses if I'm missing 50 or less coins to craft a legendary, otherwise don't bother. Sometimes you need 4 or 5 runs just to get your last 30 coins, it's quite insane.
I've given up hope for this challenge unfortunately. I've tried maybe 30 times or so but couldn't be able to pilot a deck with more than 6 wins.
Deathrattle treasures are so bad all decks I could come up with feels so weak. The only good treasure I've seen so far is Rush treasure which gives you the edge to compete with the other decks but to my luck I saw rush offered very few times in my runs.
Tried a lot of unconventional deck ideas but none of them had any success. I never tried hunter which have the best deathrattle support cards. I already have a 12 win record with Hunter and I really don't enjoy playing Hunter in duels.
The coins deal is terrible and let me explain why.
Imagine you own 3 legendaries: Gromash, Malfurion and Jaraxxus and you have 250 coins for Sylvannas, Diablo and Lich King. You buy this pack and you get 250 coins for each of those three => the value is HUGE because you get three new legendaries instantly.
Now imagine that you get the coins for the only 3 legendaries you already owned. That's like 3-4 tasks worth of coins for each? (which translates in slightly upgrading not even 2 skills) => absolutely TERRIBLE DEAL.
Adding to that, I've been playing the game for just 8 days and I'm only missing 8 legendaries (I only bought the 1 legendary + 5 packs deal and around 20 packs with gold), of those 8 legendaries, I'm missing more than 250 coins to craft on only 1 of them (Illidan // 284 coins).
If you spam tasks farming and some targeted bounty runs you don't need to buy anything at all in this game.
TL;DR the value difference of owning the mercs you get coins for or not is way too huge for this deal to make any sense.
This is just the classic "pay to not play the game" logic that's so prevalent in the industry nowadays.
The full moon has pushed me to... lunacy. Stalagg and Feugen? Hell yes! Posting my deck image to keep a spot warm. Will add the final results and other images once I get under way.
Welp... that was quick. Is there a consolation prize for a lame AF 0-3 run?
Game 1 vs. QLMage playing few minions. Lucked into a fireball generated by RNG to close it out. Game 2 vs. QLHunter playing no minions. Dead on turn 5. Fun. Game 3 vs. HPMage that played a turn 8 Mordresh Fire Eye followed by a turn 9 Mordresh Fire Eye.
Still struggling with "You think Avengers: Endgame was the most ambitious crossover event? I think NOT."
Show Spoiler
I know it has something to do with a crossover between Blizzard IPs, but I have visited all Diablo related pages, as well as the pages about the Sarge mount, but I cannot seem to find the right answer.
Yes and no. It's pretty much possible to get through Normal challenges even with the base, free crew (especially Cariel/Samuro/Xyrella); highrolling strong treasures and learning enemy moves goes a long way. Then what might universally be "the best" for a specific zone or boss can vary greatly - you can get a lot of mileage out of synergistic Nature or Shadow comps, for example.
It's a little harder to pinpoint with players' collections being far from the same (and rerolling zones can give you more favorable encounters/nodes, not to mention the treasures, too) and their coins for ability/equip upgrades varying greatly. With PvP there's just been more "static" data, the leaderboards, and the combat generally following the same set of rules.
Im probably laying down the game for good. Its actually more about standard ranked being shit that Im still grinding out mercs in the first place.
Fair enough and part of the reason I dedicated a whole week to playing the new mode. I just find it extremely shallow (even Heroics included). Yes they are more challenging I do agree. But at the end of the day most fights play out very "samey".
Look I wasn't expecting them to make a Hearthstone version of "Slay the Spire" (though that would have been fantastic if they did), but at the same time I didn't expect them to create an experience so devoid of any actual variation that Saviors of Ulduum Dungeon Runs, or Duels look complex by comparison. I know it's still early on, and we can expect it to evolve and change, but generally speaking people only give modes "one first impression" and then they have a sour taste forever more.
I find the daybreak archetype is currently the best archetype for the Taric extra attack engine because it has high statted low cost aggressive units and the the best tools in targon demacia to devalue blockers (stun effects).
It doesnt need more than a double attack combo with 2 blockers stunned to win games and the deck doesn’t struggle to do that
I'm out of the loop on competitive meta decks (or how to build them) in LOR. I mainly play expeditions and silver (meme decks in LOR. How would you go about creating a Targon/Demacia with Leona as the archetype post balance adjustments?
Thanks for all the feedback! i already submitted because i liked the way the final renditions of my cards were so i guess there will be some little point deductions because for example one of them is missing an apostrophe :)
nevertheless , even tough this comp was a little harder than others it was still fun and challenging!

I only pre ordered Sylvannas bundle and guess what I opened the diamond skin of sylvannas, even if its the diamond one its not ok, because I am missing a lot of legendaries, I rather prefer to open another random legendarie rather than diamond skin....

I think they should work on adding new "AI" difficulties and add a mode to the Fight Pit where you ALWAYS play against AI opponents.
I enjoy AI matches WAY MORE than "real player" matches, because real players always use boring "meta" combos and the AI uses all the characters.
I also can't stand people that take a year "thinking" before they make their moves.

It really is so carp. I queued up/played the stream before it started because I was going out. Came back and it was playing some 2017 final.
If they don't move back to twitch and build that tournament mode, then RIP HS esports.
Even with drops on, there's only 400 people watching. A single twitch streamer gets more than that.

Initially I thought the same as you: get mercenaries in packs and save coins for upgrades.
Until you realize you barely get any coins for a merc until you own that merc.
And that legendary merc drop rates in packs are abysmal.
So to sum up, always craft a mercenary IMMEDIATELY once you get enough coins to do so.
