  • Celebrate Oozefest With a Hearthstone Word Search - Call of Darkness

Nothing has changed with it /shrug

    Good to hear it though!

  • Top Three-cret - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Thanks for the feedback, i made some little changes:

Hold the Line is now an Epic card and equips a Spiked Wheel:

Dr. Booms Boombox is now a Rare Card instead of Epic!

Shields Up stayed the same so i did not implement it in this post :)

Always love these word searches, fun way to kill time while the Coffee brews.

  • Problem with pre-order duplicate protection

I heard a lot of talk about there being some kind of protection so you'll only ever get skins once you have all the mercs of that particular rarity, but I guess today I can see that that is not the case.

I think - or rather thought - there was some distinction between 'card slots' and 'coin slots' in this regard. By 'card slot' I mean the part of the pack which is guaranteed to have a merc in it (at least until you own all the rares), and 'coin slots' are the other 4 parts. My understanding was that an epic in the card slot would be one you don't already own the base version of (and hence falls under some sort of duplicate protection), while an epic in a coin slot would most likely be a skin which doesn't care about duplicate protection at all. I certainly got the 2 cool Tyrande skins very quickly that way.

I'm not entirely convinced it is working that way anymore though.

Pretty sure this is not how it works, or if it is it'll certainly never be confirmed. Because its so knee deep in shit that its impenetrable as an explanation. How can anyone aside from blizz justify what a 'coin slot' would be? By opening multiple packs, anyone can see that the 'card slot' is not a constant in terms of position, so what we have here is if you have more than one 'card slot' then it stands to reason that one of them is guaranteed to be a skin, which means the pack quality of each pack is literally much worse than we can imagine.

For now Im running with the convenient logic that there is no protection anywhere, aside from the fact that you'll be receiving coins in 'card slots' only if you've gotten all the skins in that particular rarity. Since there's clearly more skins than there are mercs, you'll be screwed fairly often because of it, unless the logic is that you roll between a skin and a merc for each 'card slot' first rather than as a whole.

Do you have the complete set for epics yet?

I opened a pack today and found much to my annoyance that I was granted a skin for an epic I have, rather than an epic merc I dont have.

I heard a lot of talk about there being some kind of protection so you'll only ever get skins once you have all the mercs of that particular rarity, but I guess today I can see that that is not the case.

Yeah, to be clear on this, I do have all the rares, but I don't have all the epics or legendaries. Like many, I foolishly imagined that duplicate protection didn't treat portraits as unique mercs and expected a new epic merc when I opened that pack

Really nice development of your cards, I like the latest iterations quite a lot. One small suggestion: Boombox doesn't feel worthy of being an Epic, I'd go with Rare here, while Hold the Line! looks quite strong so maybe make that one your Epic? Doesn't really matter, you'll get 4 or 5 stars from me anyway.

    AeroJulwin
I'm not a big fan of tackling the Sigil-issue head on to be honest. You should also try to work around the text that is visible in Rigged Sigil's top right corner. Gaining attack on the opponent's turn would be a new mechanic and not very intuitive so Warding Glyphs is a no for me. Sacrificial Summon is a cool card though, I like it quite a lot.

    FenrirWulf
Focused healing should be a Rare at the very least. Half a Reno is nothing to scoff at. Disarming Palm and Spell Ward are cool cards. Not completely convinced by the art of all three of them, but I'm leaning towards 4 stars anyway.

    Wailor
Probably my favorite bunch so far. Great cards, nothing to criticize here.

    Neoguli
Demonic Presence is a nice idea, but running two conditions might be too complicated. I also struggle to find the connection between breaking Armor and drawing a Demon flavor-wise. Maledict Shadow is a nice enough idea, but the name makes me expect a minion and not a spell. Also permanent -2 Attack is pretty strong, you can kill a token deck with this card alone by locking their board. Maybe make it a temporary effect? (I see that was the original version of the card… really hard to balance this effect.) Soul Harvest rather looks like a Priest card to me and needs an "s" in "minions".

    linkblade91
Second best set of cards for me after Wailor's bunch. Product Recall has a bit of a crammed text box and the art of Engage Defenses! looks very crowded but those are minor issues. Great work!

    grumpymonk
Nice ideas, I like them! Sudden Deluge is a huge power creep on Explosive Runes, but I guess it's fitting. I do think you should up the rarity though. Regarding Voodoo Mastery I don't get the connection between drawing cards and Voodoo.

    R
There's a typo in United We Stand ("it's") and I'm not sure if putting Outcast on Secrets is a good idea. Also canceling Battlecries is a new mechanic that would annoy the hell out of people so I'd rather not go with that one.

    Demonxz95
Very nice cards overall. I feel like making Shadow Flash deal 2 damage would be better, but that probably depends if it could be played in a deck with Shadowcloth Needle. Nice work!

Just in case you were wondering, I'm still on HS break and submitted way too hastily. So yeah, I'm the idiot who created the Demon Hunter Secrets with the wrong syntax. Sigh.

Alright, time for feedback. I literally hit Legend for the first time today, so I'm feeling pretty good!

Nice one, congrats! What deck did you use? Did you do the deed in Standard or Wild? Enjoy that card back, I hope your experience was as great as mine when I first made it :)

Standard with Pirate Warrior. Here you go!

    Some extra feedback

    AeroJulwin

I agree with Grumpymonk that Rigged Sigil is a bit weird given that Secrets don't have two-sided effects or the potential to backfire if used at the wrong time.

    Warding Glyphs is okay.

Sacrificial Summon is, as noted, a better Spellbender. Spellbender has never been of Mage's better Secrets, but the discrepancy in power level is still kinda insane. A logo also appears to be visible in the bottom-right.

    FieselFitz
I think you've done good, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to say no to Hold the Line! It's almost a strictly better Ice Barrier, which is something I can almost get behind as Armor is supposed to be a strength and key mechanic of Warrior, but the big problem here is the random Warrior weapon. I could equip a Whetstone Hatchet, or I could equip a Gorehowl. There's too much variance in size.

  • Runeterra Patch 2.18.0 - Live Balance Philosophy Detailed, Card Balance Adjustments, & More

    - Next event being centered around dragons is highly unlikely, as we already saw with KD/A and Sentinels of Light. Riot like to have the same event across all of it's games. Since League and TFT are confirmed to have an Arcane related event coming around that time, it's safe to assume that it will be the same for Runeterra.

    - I disagree with the assessment that this patch is mediocre, they hit all the top tier decks, Draven and Twin Blade for Draven/Sion, Nami and Sparkfly for Nami/Zoe , tenor of terror and stone stackers for Yordle burn, relentless pursuit for rally elusives and gave some love to day break and lux.

    - I do agree that however that the buffs to dragon, the overwhelm on dragon clutch's especially, could make them overpowered.

    - "The patch notes on twitter don't have half the repercussion of the previous one 4 months ago" there is a bit of confirmation bias here, during that time we had Azir/Irelia and Watcher Control two of most oppressive decks that this game has ever saw so naturally the community was very happy to see them gone. None of the current top tier are as strong ( or hated ) as those two.

    - Yes there are still some cards who could use some nerfs ( looking at you Bandle City mayor and Poppy ) but since Bandle City have less cards than other regions they need a couple of OP cards to be competitive.

  • Runeterra Patch 2.18.0 - Live Balance Philosophy Detailed, Card Balance Adjustments, & More

Because now you can run effectively up to 6 copies of Golden Aegis in your deck.

It's not like you would run 6 copies but 4-5 copies (3 Golden Aegis + 1/2 Relentless Pursuit) gives you that much more redundany and deck consistancy (especially because Written in Stars indirectly got buffed through Solari Priestess that getting the double rally combo going will be very easy to do now.

It's not like Taric gets to do something new but he is getting to do something strong he already did way more consistanly.

  • Oozefest 2

  • Runeterra Patch 2.18.0 - Live Balance Philosophy Detailed, Card Balance Adjustments, & More

I try to be as neutral as possible but this game is dying because of the lack of patches. I know it's a controversial term to say that a game is dying, but come on, you can't tell me that we're going to have to wait until next year to see the next patch when this patch has been mediocre.

They have not buffed dragons, they have forced them to be played with questionable card changes and making a very beastly powercreep (Loyal Badgerbear vs Vanguard Sergeant or Ruined Dragonguard).

In fact I dare say that the next PVE event will have a dragon theme and will include several skins for Aurelio and company. And if that's the case, I'm quitting the game. When a company starts making balance changes to make money instead of keeping their game fresh you know it's dead (that's what they do in league of legends)

Just look at how even the patch notes on twitter don't have half the repercussion of the previous one 4 months ago or even how this page has stopped publishing news/articles and has been moved to the side to promote Mercenaries (creator of the page is not a criticism towards you, don't take it wrong).

Regarding the Furbolgs: I'm just dump. I got the quest after the "Felwood-last-boss-bounty" quest and was sure I have to do it in Winterspring because the quests seemed to build on each other.

Yeah,  i was looking for them in Winterspring as well at first :D The quest-chain certainly threw a little curve-ball in there for us :)

    Seems like it was bugged:

"Increased the spawn rate of furbolgs in the Winterspring area."

Why do you say that when there are cards like Golden Aegis that allow you to do the same and better?

If you plan to add the the title word searcher I'd gladly wear it as a proof of my total love for this.

  • Top Three-cret - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Thanks for the Feedback - did not realize i made different Watermarks :) Here are the new Cards (all with the same Watermark) and a with some little changes:

Those are the new secrets - i changed Shields Up so it only gives +1 Attack instead of 2. Boombox is the same and the third one is an entirely new card because Bomb Throw was a little too weak and similar with the Secret effect.

Now all 3 effects are different (attack a minion, opponent plays minion and after you've taken damage).

I think those are the cards i will go for in the competition - maybe some little changes etc but overall these will be my cards for this comp.

  • Hearthstone Hotfix - Legend Ratings Adjustments, Mercenary Tasks Fixes, Casual Mode Quest Completion, and More

it'ss pretty clear that Mercs didn't release in a completely finished state, but at this point it's obvious that they were under time constraints and couldn't delay it any longer. Seeing how much last minute stuff was clearly still being added it's actually quite impressive how functional it is for the most part.
