You don't see something as gloriously weird as Maestra of the Masquerade without at least trying to make practical use of it beyond just bamboozling the opponent at the start of the game. The dream is to somehow exploit it with Tess Greymane, but that has problems with not being able to run anything other than rogue and neutral cards, so you'll quickly return to a normal burgle rogue except for being able to get a couple of extra cards from Maestra's pretend class with things like Wandmaker.
That's fine, but not exciting.
Then it hit me. The most glorious little unused meme card that turns our hopes for a meme into reality. Behold, Wyrmrest Purifier!
Originally intended for Pure Paladin, now used to make a genuine, bona fide dual-class deck. No need to waste time generating cards, just transform all your neutrals at the start! And if you don't draw the purifier early, no worries because you can make a fully competent deck that just happens to run Maestra, Tess and 2x Purifier.
Will it be good? No. But is it the sort of thing that I keep playing HS for? Absolutely!
Just finished my first run with MF, didn't have much problem with GP since I had an insanely fast deck with domination and an elusive Miss Fortune my only death came from getting snowballed by a legion marauders deck.
It's honestly a little bit surprising to me that we're this far into Hearthstone's life cycle, and we haven't seen field effects yet. Seems like it's a mechanic they're considering now. I guess you could consider Transfer Student to be a stepping stone to that. It just lacks the player's ability to change the field themselves.
Seems very very slow. But with all the fire spell stuff revealed it doesn't seem that bad.
In wild i dont think Grand Magus Antonidas will see play. Most mage decks in wild are either OTK, Highlander, Genn/Baku or Casino. And i dont know if any of them even want Grand Magus Antonidas.. The best contender of course is Highlander mage, BUT try casting a fire spell 3 turns in a row in a highlander deck. Oh and dont forget that Highlander mage often has to play Reno Jackson on turn 6, so you have play around that as well.
Hmm in standard i guess this is the pay-off for playing the quest. Infinite +2 spell damage AND an infinitely scaling fire spell is pretty good together. The problem with this is that mage this expansion didnt really get any lifegain.. well except for some neutral cards. The reason hero power mage flopped was because it lacked lifegain and honestly i'm afraid Ignite and the questline will suffer the same fate.
In wild it can be made into a OTK which is pretty cool, certainly will try that deck out. But another thing is that it might see play in some mage decks that run Frost Lich Jaina because those decks often die to fatigue, and Ignite can solve that problem. Yeh a mage card that effectively does the same job as Jade Idol or Kingsbane + rogue hero power shouldn't be underestimated.
In standard you can get Flamestrike and Grand Finale out earlier, and you can play a 3th Fireball on turn 10. (if you generated one) Also Elemental Evocation saw play a lot, so i dont see how Hot Streak does not see any play. Oh and it can discount Ignite to 0 mana, can be nice in some Ignite decks.
In wild its still quite good. Its not THAT strong, because there is a.. lack of fire spells to cheat out with this. Specifically fire spells that work well with Mozaki, Master Duelist and Flamewaker OTKs. The "best" spells i think of are Forgotten Torch and Fireball.
Actually the only decks that might really use it is Archmage Antonidas OTKs because it can discount a Molten Reflection by 2 mana, which then can be played for free because you probably have 2 Sorcerer's Apprentice on board. Maybe this gets the OTK out a turn earlier?
And most of them see play anyway, so this quest should be quite viable. I'd be quite interested to see if it's better than the current Face Hunter though, coz we all know the HP always goes face, even if it can target minions.
Interesting card, but i feel like Imprisoned Phoenix is just better in spell damage decks. Still it might just see play because you can play anytime you want and get the spell damage +2 for fire spells.
But i feel like its probably better in control mage decks or maybe hero power mage because it buffs Fire Sale and Combustion.
Will most likely see play in quest shaman, but outside of that archetype, it's not really needed. Other archetypes like elemental/aggro doomhammer shaman don't need this kind of value.
New Mage Spell - Ignite
it's infinite ?! excellent !

New Mage Spell - Ignite
Couldn't this be an OTK in wild with 2 Sorcerer's Apprentice and Sanctum Chandler, assuming the animation won't take too long?
Clumsy Courier

New Mage Minion - Clumsy Courier
Seems decent in wild, where you actually have 10 cost spells. In standard it seems very bad.
Actually Inkmaster Solia and Dragoncaster are way better, so nvm Clumsy Courier is still bad.
New Mage Spell - Ignite

New Mage Minion - Sanctum Chandler
Seems strong. Can draw a whole lot of cards with all the fire spell support in standard. I like it.
Sanctum Chandler can also work well in wild in a Sanctum Chandler + Ignite + 2x Sorcerer's Apprentice and Stargazer Luna OTK.
Seems like a solid card, looking forward to play around with it in some probably bad decks.
New Mage Spell - Hot Streak
Preparation for fire spells, thats so good!
In standard you can get Flamestrike and Grand Finale out earlier, and you can play a 3th Fireball on turn 10. Dark Alley Pact
Twilight Drake sees a lot of play. This is better
New Warlock Spell - Dark Alley Pact
Twilight Drake sees a lot of play. This is better
New Hunter Spell - Defend the Dwarven District
So there will be 9 spells in standard that do damage to anything: https://outof.cards/hearthstone/cards/hunter?text=damage&collectible=yes&standard=yes&card_type=6
And most of them see play anyway, so this quest should be quite viable. I'd be quite interested to see if it's better than the current Face Hunter though, coz we all know the HP always goes face, even if it can target minions.
