  • Hearthstone Gets Druid & Priest Balance Changes This Week - Our Thoughts on the Potential Cards

Let's do math at how much the average priest player heals right now with current version and with a 5 health version.

    VersionAmount of playedHealing
Current (+3 heal)4 average (can be a lot more if go loop with Wand)12
Nerfed (+5 heal)2 average (at most one or two more if lucky enough)10

    Seems fair.

Now let's do the mana math:

    VersionMana value
    Current (+3 heal)

    Discover = 1 mana

Heal = 0.5 mana (flashlight is 1 mana so this is half the effect)

Total mana value = 1.5 mana

    Nerfed (+5 health)

    Discover = 1 mana

    Heal = 1 mana (Flashlight)

Total mana value = 2 mana

The card right now IS broken since it does do more than it should for it's mana. If you add up in the mix LOTS of combo potentials (enhanced with Palm Reading) the card is just disgusting.

Current priest relies on three things for winning:

    1) Controling and developing board constantly: This aspect will be hit since the combo potential is reduced A LOT

    2) Healing: Not so much to talk about here, obviously reduced

    3) Value: Since you removed the Wandmaker + Renew loop, OF COURSE the deck loses most of it's value generators.

Attacking 2 out of the 3 aspects of the class is A BiG hit. Attacking THE THREE would utterly kill the class and send it to bottom tier 3 or 4. Increasing a little bit the heal of Renew at least will keep the survivability and the class will probably be tier 2 or high/mid 3 at most.

Do you understand now my point?

  • Hearthstone Gets Druid & Priest Balance Changes This Week - Our Thoughts on the Potential Cards

Greetings fellow humans! I hate Priest too, and I really hope they nerf Soothsayer's Caravan. Don't worry about those healing cards guys, please just nuke the Caravan!

Ramp Druid still not nerfed.. what a clowns.

  • Hearthstone Gets Druid & Priest Balance Changes This Week - Our Thoughts on the Potential Cards

The issue with the current version of Renew isn't healing: we are totally on the same page.

On the other hand, a 2 mana restore 5 and Discover a spell Renew would be another case.

  • Hearthstone Gets Druid & Priest Balance Changes This Week - Our Thoughts on the Potential Cards

Apotheosis is amazing, and universally good.  The one combo makes it essential.  If they kept it at 3 mana, but killed the attack bonus it would align more with Priest's focus of fat butts.  It would still be useful for bigger minions, but essentially kicks the Blademaster Samuro combo in the groin.

Renew is just too tough.  A decent enough heal along with being able to discover itself or any number of other valuable cards needed to be addressed a long time ago.  I would say that something along the lines of only able to target minions OR heroes instead of generic heal  would be enough to curb it personally.

Gibberling going to 2 makes sense and slows it down substantially.  Making Druid wait one turn to start building up is enough to slow it down to a manageable status.  When they nerfed Innervate it dead stopped the ability for Vicious Fledgling to hit the board turn 1 and go nuts.  Just last night I played a game and got 4 Gibberling turn 1 and still had 2 cards in my hand.  That kind of power needs to be curb checked.

  • Hearthstone's Liv Breeden and Cora Georgiou Discuss New Expansion, Battlegrounds, and Priest - Full Interview Recap

I don't think people reacted negatively to your issues with Priest (that's a major community sentiment after all, and the reason we're finally getting some nerfs to it). It was more about "skipping the expansion and hoping the game dies", before even seeing 90% of the cards that are yet to come.

As for Priest generation, we knew this year would still be rough because of the cards printed for Ashes/Scholo/Darkmoon. They only made this promise to tone this down from Barrens/Core set onwards. I don't know if they will eventually get it right, but they did acknowledge some of the problems they created.

  • Corbett's Odd Deathrattle Demon Hunter

I've been playing something similar to this in standard with C'Thun, the Shattered.  Since with Demon Hunter, you are able to cycle through cards so quickly, taking advantage of the Deathrattle abilities from the last few expansions helps to get through your deck quickly as well

  • Mythgard Has Officially Entered Maintenance Mode, No More Large Content Updates Planned - Seasonal Tournament Continues

    Sad to hear this :(

Due to current life circumstances limiting my gaming time I've only actually played it a few times (going through the single-player missions to get an idea of how to play), but I'd been hoping that maybe when I got tired of Hearthstone I would be able to pick this up instead.

  • Rewards Track: Current progress 2.0

Micro update, I have reached level 304. Current Demon Hunter wins: 633 (+8)

I should still be on track to reach level 350, just before the next expansion hits in August.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

And remember that the answer card is old, so scale your expectations of huge stat value appropriately (i.e. not *that* huge). Though I recall that folks thought it wasn't given a tribe because it would have been broken with a tribe. How times change.

    Edit: another mini-hint

  • Hearthstone Gets Druid & Priest Balance Changes This Week - Our Thoughts on the Potential Cards

Please fix typo in "with a change of Discovering another Palm Reading". Chance not change.

Thanks for the great analysis! I'm curious to see if nerfs actually became predictable in this game. It is lovely if they took this route.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

Orphan is without tribe. The Faire counterpart, is well, the opposite really. And has another attribute hinted at. And the stats are not ginormous, just large compared to the cost, which is also equivalent between the answer and the Faire counterpart.

  • New Neutral Minion - Spice Bread Baker

This card will be played in every control deck, especially the new with the new Warlock questline. Rarely better than Antique Healbot, but with the lack of heal options, and this being Neutral, ups the rating significantly.

  • Seed of Pain Warlock

The quest requires 21 damage face, but heals for 6, so after completing it you can be at 15hp. However, if you use Crystallizer then you can get 5hp towards completion without actually losing hp. So using one of those, you can be at 20hp after the quest which is reasonably high. Or you can use one spellstone for 7 and be at 22hp. If you combine multiple spellstones (Tamsin Roame can duplicate them) and Crystallizers which is doable since this deck has a lot of card draw, then you can be at even higher than 20hp after completing the quest. Of course aggro is going to try and damage you too, but that's why the deck will have premium removals like Defile and Dark Skies. Also some cards like Spirit Bomb and Unstable Shadow Blast will help remove aggro minions to stop additional damage while helping you progress in your quest.

  • Seed of Pain Warlock

    Pro

Thanks! Please let us know your thoughts once you've tried it, we're still looking for the best version. Swizard has already tested it in a few games since the only new card is the quest. So far, it seems to work pretty well.

I think it has quite some similarity to the currently used Darkglare lists, but while those control the board with whatever minions they find and Broomstick, we have added some spells like Defile and Dark Skies. Cheaty Anklebiter might be worth a try as well, since it helps with Darkglare turns and provides some healing if we manage to trade it. The main argument against it is its Cost: we need as many cheap minions as possible for the OTK. The goal is defintely to end the game on turn 6 whenever possible.

It's a thin line we're walking with this list, but we haven't seen the support cards from the new expansion we're expecting to get for the questline. So yeah, there's almost certainly room for improvement, but we've put further development on hold for the time being.

  • Hearthstone Gets Druid & Priest Balance Changes This Week - Our Thoughts on the Potential Cards

@dapperdog, I don't blame them, there are plenty of people that seem to think everything out of an OTK or a Fatigue deck is aggro. But you are a 100% right. Especially concerning Spell Druid, if anything it is a board based combo deck. It wants to assemble the right pieces then kill you in a turn or two.  I do want to add that priest generation of random crap is effectively knocking out all other control decks, except for Control Lock, which is just a bad deck to begin with and without Tickatus would also lose to priest.

  • Hearthstone Gets Druid & Priest Balance Changes This Week - Our Thoughts on the Potential Cards

I envy you, the deck  face the most in legend is control priest.

So I checked for the most flashy Darkmoon Faire cards and entered their stats into the card search to see if an old minion with a tribe comes out.

I found Frozen Crusher for Tickatus and Lyra the Sunshard for Ringmaster Whatley. My guess is that "solitude" translates to legendary, so Lyra the Sunshard?

Hey guys, congrats on this cool, collaborative effort! I look forward to trying this deck out.

I'm thinking we might need more healing if we're going to be burning our own face so much. You have 2x Drain Soul and Spellstones, plus the Lifesteal on the Questline. Will that be enough?

  • Hearthstone Gets Druid & Priest Balance Changes This Week - Our Thoughts on the Potential Cards

Dude, the core problem of Renew is not that it heals and it discovers. The big problem is that you can generate it an oppressive amount of times with Wandmaker + Raise Dead, while also discounting it to 0 mana allows it to save it for insane turns with Sethekk or Xyrella. Adding +2 health seems fine. 2 mana for an effect like +3 health and a discover is just too expensive.

The issue IS NOT with the amount of healing, is with the amount of card generation that's possible to get and the insane combo potential. I don't know why you're suggesting that the problem is the healing.
