  • Is a Really Big Event Coming to Legends of Runeterra Next Week?

    If they are going to implement champion skins with the event then project would definitely make the most sense since a lot of the champions currently in LoR have project skins in LoL, those being Vi, Lucian, Yasuo, Fiora, Ashe, Zed, Irelia, and the recently announced skins for Renekton and Sejuani. Pyke and Ekko could be included as well if they are the next champions for Bilgewater and P&Z.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Mid-May Forged in the Barrens Card Nerfs Including Crabrider

    Seeing lots of Aggro decks after a balance patch is quite the rule - they're the easiest way to cheese out wins.

    Give the meta a few days.

  • Post-nerf Meta Discussion!

    So... what happened? I haven’t actually gotten around to playing Hearthstone after the nerfs but from what I can tell it seems pretty bad? Like Paladin has actually become even stronger? (Well, at least judging from HS replay statistics).

    I mean, I hope this is only a short-term problem that comes from a recent meta fluctuation with people changing around their decks and what-not. But I’m also surprised to see that Hunter winrates have ballooned as well. I don’t remember Hunter having a particulary good matchup against Paladins either.

    So my hypothesis right now is that: Yes, Paladin is still a very strong class but will have a tiny bit weaker early game considering the First Day of School and Crabrider nerfs... however, it clearly did not address enough of its power cards like Blessing of Authority or Hand of A’dal. Anyway, I would like to think that the current fluctuations in winrate (for Paladin and Hunter) are only because people are trying out their janky new N’zoth decks and Deathrattle Demom Hunters with the new buffs. Also, the Hysteria nerf cannot be downplayed as Warlock and Priest, Paladin’s major counters, were probably temporarily shelved away in light of the nerfs.I mean Priest in particular has really good matchups against anything that’s not Warlock, so I am honestly quite shocked at the massive fluctuation in winrates.

    So to summarize, Paladin and Hunter are just beating up all the new homebrew decks, artificially boosting their winrates (combined with their main counters Priest and Warlock probably dipping in playrate a bit as well). So what do you all think? Just the usual doom and gloom from the community or a sign that the worse is yet to come?

    I like the 4 Mana version quite a lot. The 5 Mana Weapon is too complicated with the two restrictions and requires too much setup to be really worth it. The only issue I can see coming up is that Barrens has no other highlander card. But for me, that's only 4 instead of 5 stars and with a average of 4 you'll be fine :)

    Demon
    The Warrior card is super flavorful and I would probably rate it 4 stars if you made it a 6/6/6 (like in the song of Iron Maiden). What keeps me from giving it a top rating is what linkblade said: the tokens are too weak. Oh and I agree that "Riffy" is too much. That said, I do also like The Kingslayers quite a lot. The first one might be a bit too much, but if you decide to go with it, I suggest considering to cut the "from your deck". Or is this meant to be the card's weakness? What happens when it starts in hand? Really cool idea anyways!

    Nirast
    Nice idea, especially how you worked around the major catch of making a highlander spell (it becomes a dead card if you end up with duplicates in your deck). The power level is a bit hard to evaluate, but I'd probably cut the Overload. It makes the card more complicated than it needs to be. If you think it's too strong at 5, you can just raise the cost.

    DestroyerR
    Very creative idea, I like it! Maybe you can sneak a "on your turn" in the fourth line to prevent the issue linkblade has pointed out.

    Lol, it was for a card back. If you want different puzzles, you have the entire internet to look for them.

  • Celestalon Gives Insight on the Creation of the Barrens Mysteries Achievement Puzzles

    These puzzles were lame. How could we possibly know that combination for boxes is 7 4s when he didn't even know what's the reason behind it. So lame. It was literally solved by brute forcing the script. There are 10 million combinations of attack of the boxes, not to mention that getting them to certain combination is not easy as well. The rest of the puzzles were solvable but Rogue one is a total joke

  • There Can Be Only One - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

    @DestroyerR Neat idea, but what about if you draw a card during your opponent's turn? You're not allowed to make decisions while it is not your turn.

    How is this supposed to be solved by a single average gamer?

    It's not. He said it was meant from the beginning to be solved by a small handful of people on reddit, then everyone else copies the solution and praises how "innovative" the puzzles were even though they never solved or were aware of any clues from the beginning.

    FTFY.  Don't care about disagreements, naysayers, or downvotes.  As others in this thread have pointed out, this wasn't really engaging from an average player/user perspective.  Hearthstone, a game meant to include as many people in the online card game genre as possible, then includes clues/puzzles that 99.99% of the community is never going to find, figure out, or solve; either on their own or even with a friend.

    The riddle lab mini-expansion is a good way to engage the community with some mind-games.  Including secret switch/button/clickable combinations on boards for little surprises is a good way to engage the community.

    Making subtle hints from months back hidden inside random tweets (i.e. clues outside the game) isn't inclusive to a community.

    This whole trend of "lets make meta community riddles that require people who should be (or are) in cryptography, or the skills in that area necessary in order solve them.

    As an average player/user of hearthstone I just didn't find these puzzles OR clues engaging.  The only puzzle that was actually fun to figure out was the river crossing puzzle with caravans.  Other than that, the other 3 were just convoluted messes.

    As I said before, 99.99% of this community (including myself) got the cardback by rote copying the solution.  Rote copying is not engaging in any way, shape, or form.

  • My biggest gripe with HS...

    Perhaps I was not clear enough, so I will share my perspective of why I turn emotes off. Aside from playing a turn-based game of digital cards, I do not care for ANY other interaction with my opponent whatsoever. I do not play HS to make friends or enemies. I like HS because it reminds me of Magic: The Gathering; it has a collectible aspect, cool animations, tons of flavor, most of the time it is really fun and it even runs on a mobile device. When playing a match (Win or Lose) the outcome will be decided by who played the best sequence of cards. If I get bored during a match, I will fiddle with the board or direct my attention somewhere else. If the AI was smart enough, I would not even mind playing against it, but since it also rewards less XP I will not do this. Whenever I want to discuss about HS, I just go online and visit a great HS community like Out of Cards instead of spamming emotes with some random stranger opponent.

    People are different, which makes them unique. People play games like HS in their own way and get their personal satisfaction/enjoyment out of it. The fact Blizzard assumes an auto-squelch setting would be used only because people got offended prior is already flawed and false.

    Bottomline is this; there already exists a manual squelch option in the game. So, they clearly are not opposed to players getting squelched. Some of us just want an extra auto-squelch setting which save us some time. The saved time is at most 2 seconds each game. Considering I already played 15000+ games (and counting) it adds up significantly (8 hours! rounded down). It is just plain ignorant that a Quality of Life request so simple and harmless is not granted to HS players by Team5.

    By the way, not trying to convince you of anything unless by any chance you are working for Blizzard who randomly saw my somewhat harsh (rant) comment 😇

    Wow.  That is a pretty bold statement right there!  4 free puzzles that give an optional card back and encourage the community to discover and work together is the worst thing ever to happen in the game?

    Personally I think it was when the arena wins crown was upside down for months but that's just me.

    Well the warrior one was easy to solve by anyone.

    And if I could solve 3 of them on my own* then I think most people could give them a go if they were so inclined.  Or a community effort which Celestation himself took pains to encourage - sharing links of places people were working on them together.

    The forth one I didn't attempt as text was too small and my eyes aren't good.  Don't know if I'd have solved that or not.

    * didn't figure out the spells combo in practice mode.  I thought it was building a specific deck/import deck code or something you had to do in Book of Mercenaries lol.  Also I'm retired with time on my hands

  • Interesting Lists & Hard Counters

    Hey there card game fans, I've been playing the expansion for a little while now and have finally caught up on Champs which means it's time for another off meta deck list roundup.

    1. The landmark deck - very flexible with its option selection right now but primarily comes in 3 forms Malphite Thaliyah, Malphite Yassao, Thaliyah Lisandra. The goal is to A reduce countdowns in lissandeas case, two control things out with Yassao stuns, three turbo level landmark Champs.

    2. The anti Irelia tech, there are some very strong deck options out there for beating Irelia Azir but the strongest by far I found to be shadow Irelia.

    3. Time bomb fun - the strongest version I found to be ezreal duplicate shuffling more bombs in and predicting that Tefari want to be. Although Swain time bomb works okay as a win con too, where you have access to flock

    4. Finally new takes on old classics like lee sin and  plunder using the expansion options

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

    Didn't think it would be possible, but the meta actually got worse after the nerfs. It's like the clowfiesta of brainless cancer decks.

    So long I found:

    _ weapon rogue;
    _ face hunter;
    _ burn mage;
    _ burn shaman;
    _ token druid.

    But I must admit that people can get very original when it comes to not use their brain.

    These puzzles were terrible! The only Q I want A'd is "what is wrong with you?"

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Mid-May Forged in the Barrens Card Nerfs Including Crabrider

    I was happy at first for Crabrider nerf, but I didn't think that the end of Paladin dominion would open the way to any kind of cancer deck. Face hunter, token druid, burn mage/shaman... It's a fuckin' nightmare.

    I'm starting to think that I'd rather get slapped by that murloc than this.

  • Oh My Yogg bugs

    Quote From Pezman

    Bugs with this card are consistently inconsistent. I played the coin into it the other day, and it turned into Flurry (Rank 1), which did not cast and my opponent's only minion remained unfrozen. Then later that same day, my opponent coined when I had this same secret up, turned into Flurry again, but my minion got frozen. Yogg just hating on me personally?

    Normally I would say that there's probably a reason for that, but after getting scammed out of Legend by getting Yogg'd into Shadow Council I can say with definitive certainty: Yes, Yogg was designed with the sole purpose of frustrating players into a violent rage.

    For fuck's sake, just remove this broken cards. It's probably responsible for like half of Paladin's success and it doesn't even work properly.
