  • Cards We Would Like to See Nerfed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

If Warlock gets hit (and I think Tickatus probably has to) Priest should get preemptively nerfed. Apotheosis would be a good hit.

Edit: having just played a couple Priests and having them Samuro + Apotheosis me I can confirm; that combo is very good. Maybe a little too good. I get it that Samuro is a Legendary, but Priest already has access to tons of heal.

I agree with the entire article except about Paladin cards (I agree with the Crab Rider nerf). There are three extremely strong archetypes - Secret Paladin, Secret Libram Paladin, and Aggro Paladin. Conviction (Rank 1) is only run in one of those archetypes. The WR data on First Day of School is overwhelming. 70%+ Mulligan WR across all archetypes. Make it 1-mana. It may kill the card, but it's had its time to shine. The minion pool is too small and powerful. Un-nerf it when it rotates to Wild.

Now, don't pile-on the downvotes for bringing up a discussion, but the other Paladin card I think needs to be addressed is Oh My Yogg!. I don't have the data/stats to back this up though. It's usually cheated out by Sword of the Fallen so it's a bad Mulligan selection, and the "played" data is also distorted. But it's on a completely different power-level than the other Paladin secrets. Counterspell is perfectly balanced, and this is a 1-mana version (or 0-mana through Sword) that sometimes wins the game on its own through RNG. Paladin has an easy time getting on the board (First Day of School), and Oh My Yogg! shuts down early-game board clears for 0-1 mana, and might end up buffing the exact things you were trying to kill. Even if it's not as OP as I'm suggesting here, I'd argue the card falls into the same un-fun category as Tickatus, Illucia, and Il'gynoth.

But I'm not sure how you nerf such a unique and complicated effect as Oh My Yogg!. Here's my best suggestion. "Secret: After your opponent plays a spell, cast a random one that costs less."

That means The Coin won't trigger it because spells can't cost less than 0. That means a board clear won't get disrupted, nor any other spell, the Paladin just gets a random free spell afterwards. That means if the opponent plays a 10-mana spell the Paladin can't also get a 10-mana spell, it'll randomly cast a spell that costs between 0-9 - thus avoiding some of the pitfalls of the smaller spell pools at each mana-cost. There's still huge potential game-busting upsides to a 1-mana secret like this, but it won't shut down your opponents' game plan. It'll just make crazy stuff happen, in the true spirit of Yogg.

lol, probably not. Was thinking about how absurd it was like an hour after I posted, but decided against editing it away. My own opinion on how to deal with crabrider is to just remove the rush so its only truly good versus decks that don't play for tempo.

  • Cards We Would Like to See Buffed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

regarding Caravans....I don't think we want to see them buffed.

We have Watchposts terrorize us for a week, we now bow to the Crabrider overlord, maybe at some point we have to come to terms with the fact that 2_mana 1/4s with continuous effects aren't a good idea.

Not to mention what buffing these things would do to Arena where they are already incredibly powerful.

If you make them end of turns the good ones are just going to become autoincludes. Paladin would get a better Primalfin Totem, Shaman gets a more powerul Mana Tide, etc.

Maybe we just need to accept that these things just aren't meant to be.

  • Cards We Would Like to See Nerfed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

I really really hate illucia. Copying my cards is fine, but outright stealing my cards is very frustrating.

I agree that it requires much more skill to use properly than tickitus, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating to lose to. Dirty rat isn't so bad since it is one random minion taken from your hand rather than whatever your opponent chooses. And you still get to play with that minion since it is on your side of the board instead of the opponent's.

Having your cards yoinked right out of your hand will always be frustrating regardless of how powerful it is or how much skill is involved in the stealing.

    New idea:

Support for thief Rogue. It's basically Azalina Soulthief, but cheaper and way slower. You opponent can also react to it.

    Feedback:

I think Grim Fortune is a lot stronger than at first glance, since it leave you start with a clean slate, which is VERY strong. I like Smart Investment a lot more, card looks good.

    TheHoax91
Hmm, don't like this one. It's either really broken, or absolutely useless.

    linkblade91
Delayed Commencement with Rush instead of Taunt. I'd say it's pretty good.

    grumpymonk
Shrink Ray was an ok card as far as I recall, so a delayed version that prevents your opponent from playing it would probably also see play.

    Demonxz95
The wording implies that you replay all the cards you play the turn it activates, which is… none. If you meant 'that you played last turn', this is probably a bit strong, even if you only have 7 mana to work with. I'd say it should probably cost 4 or 5. Rez Priest would absolutely love this.

    Neoguli
Love the effect, but not sure it's legal for the comp.

So 2 mana 2/3 rush windfury is fair card?

  • Cards We Would Like to See Buffed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

That would certainly help Vashj, but I'm not sure how much it would do for shaman as a whole given you need good draw to reliably find her twice in the first place. So it depends on what the goal is: if you want Vashj to be stronger, then sure; if you want shaman to be appreciably stronger, then I'd look elsewhere.

  • How to fix murlocs in Battlegrounds

Murlocs in Battlegrounds are just a bit too weak to be enjoyable, right now.

I think an easy way to buff them would be to simply remove the Murloc Tidecaller from the pool of minions. It would make all murloc generation and discovery effects a little bit stronger, and it would help Fungalmancer Flurgle quite a lot.

    Any thoughts?

  • Cards We Would Like to See Nerfed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

Agree with all of them... Except one I missread like a fool XD

I cannot understand how the hell I read and instead of or, but it was really overkill xD

    Quote From AngryShuckie

Vashj Prime - Literally the only Prime minion with garbage stats and no immediate impact on the board.

Having made a thread about the failings of Akama Prime just yesterday, I can't not chime in on this statement. I mean really? How did Akama get classified as having an immediate impact? It couldn't even be given taunt if it wanted to. Akama just has to hope it survives a turn to do anything, which is surprisingly difficult considering his whole purpose is to be tough to kill. Meanwhile, at least the spells Vashj draws can do something right away.

Anyway, I think Vashj Prime's main problem is that, as a prime card, you have to draw on average 75% of your deck to see her (helped out a little bit by possible extra copies from Primordial Studies). By that point, how many worthwhile spells are even left in your deck? And you certainly cannot plan for specific ones. Reducing her to 6 mana wouldn't really fix much, other than the rare times you draw her early.

I think shaman is better off getting a new OK bit of card draw (preferably one that draws 2+ cards) than patching up existing options.

What about Vahsj 6mana  But discovers 3 spells youve cast this game

    Pro

Whoops. Yes, it is. I wasn't happy with it anyway.

    Feedback time!

In general, I can only repeat what I think I have picked up from one of the devs: Spells that trigger next turn and don't affect the board in any visual way are a bit problematic because it's easy to forget about them. I can't think of an example that breaks this rule of thumb from the top of my head. This issue comes up with all the cards in this thread so far.

    Neoguli
I do think it wouldn't qualify because the prompt specifically states "your spell shouldn't have any other effect but one that happens at the start of your next turn". That said, I like the flavor of the card.

    Demon
Really hard to determine the cost… I think I'd draw the line at 4 Mana which prevents Spellstone shenanigans and make this a stronger Vargoth in Wild's Big Priest. Other than that, cool card!

    grumpymonk
    Cool card, I like it!

    linkblade
Nice idea, I like that kind of card. The one thing that is a bit off is that the "Charge" in the name doesn't work out with "Rush" in the effect. But maybe that even happened on purpose?

    Nirast
Nice idea, but I agree, the art isn't great. The text box looks a bit crowded as well. The effect looks strong but fun.

    TheHoax91
I'm sorry but I don't like these time turner effects. The tiny bit of useful feedback I can give is that the comma in the third line should be removed.

    Wailor
Grim Fortune is quite flavorful and strong at the same time. Maybe it's even too good at 4 Mana if you compare it to other AOE cards in Priest. It would defintely powercreep Mass Hysteria since that one doesn't guarantee a board clear. Out of your two ideas I think I prefer Smart Investment anyways. Evaluating the power level is hard, but I'm leaning towards making it cost 2 Mana. It would still be better than Conjure Mana Biscuit in a class that is better at utilizing the potential of both the Mana gain and the Combo potential.

  • Cards We Would Like to See Nerfed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

I see Illucia very much like dirty rat, I love that card and there is a lot to think around especially when were talking about timing and when to play it.

Its very different from ticktatus where you just jam it down whenever its corrupted and have 6 mana.... There is much more counterplay and skill involved with a well timed Illucia

I agree with the other nerfs but I strongly disagree that Illucia needs it, it acts as a decent counter otherwise broken decks like OTK DH, its a good card to have in the meta and arguing that it should be made unplayable just because it techs well against certain decks is a pretty poor argument imo.

  • Cards We Would Like to See Buffed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

I have played with Al'ar a lot in my own meme Priest decks and it won me many games (mostly due to the opponent being dumb enough to ignore it). If people think this is a card for deathrattle decks then they are just wrong. This card is good for cloning decks. Cards that create extra copies of it directly on the board can force the opponent to sink too many resources into it. Ignoring it is bad because buffs can make it pretty scary. And it hits pretty hard. It works best in Priest because of the class' copying effects. The card is a fine meme. It doesn't need any help in that regard. I don't think it needs to become a competitive force either.

  • Cards We Would Like to See Nerfed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

The ones I agree with are mankrik, consumed by hatred (only because mankrik is too good for a card that's free and easily slots in almost every deck) and crabrider (because of the hand of a'dal curve)

  • Cards We Would Like to See Buffed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

Vashj Prime with a 1 mana cost reduction is about as sad as it gets. The real problem with this card has never been its costs, or its playability, its simply that shaman never gets there without dying. Then there's also the fact that Doomhammer is still just the better finisher, something that not only can be tutored, is fairly good on its own. Shaman needs some card draw, but I don't think team5 will do it. Given the god hand a couple of times, I honestly can envision a consistent shaman being equal to being tier 1 right now.

Caravan at 4 health, I can't see why this is broken. To get value out of this, your opponent has to have skipped his first turn, or they are a control deck. Even if the caravan triggers, its still not the end of the world. Perhaps giving it the true Nat Pagle treatment and taking away their attack, making it a 0/4 would be even better.

Also, give Shadowform its mind shatter back. Like really.

    Quote From YourPrivateNightmare

Btw, what would people think of turning Tickatus into an 8-drop, but just...removing the corrupt (and obviously changing the effect to post corruption)?

There's about a 0% chance of this happening. Pretty much every keyword gets a legendary version, and Tickatus was corrupt's one (Y'shaarj and Xanesh don't count because they don't get corrupted themselves, so they aren't really showing off a big fancy corrupt effect).

That might not constitute a good reason, but it is definitely a factor here.

  • Cards We Would Like to See Nerfed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

Nerfing flow, octobot, apotheosis is little dumb i think (what im confused is these cards doesnt making a deck %65 winrate) and I REALLY dont think suggested paladin nerfs are enough.

  • Cards We Would Like to See Buffed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

I want to be fair and honest: I completely forgot about Akama Prime - I guess we can say he hides very well :P

    @anchorm4n

Isn't this just a worse Corruption, but for hunter?

  • Cards We Would Like to See Nerfed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

The only card here that probably I would want to see get nerfed would be Refreshing Spring Water OR Incanter's Flow. The number of times my eyes rolls every time I see these two cards being played on curve...might as well just get my eyes checked. Apparently its so tilting that even pros get upset. Just witness Felkeine in masters. Sad to see someone just concede early because his opponent played incanters flow on 2.

Probably only spring water. Incanter's flow is bad, but its only after team5 decided to make mage the new draw all your deck class that it really gets truly ridiculous.

The others...well I'm not really a person who likes to see constant nerfs just because its a strong card, only when they are flat out broken. Crabrider is really good, but its only because its arch nemesis Hungry Crab isn't standard anymore so there's little to no punish against this card. Removing the rush off this card is my take, if at all. Taking it down to 3 health is fine, as long as it gets 1 extra attack, but I doubt this will calm anyone's nerves.

Il'gynoth? that's new. Ive always treated OTK dhunter as a niche, since anything that plays on curve minions can reliably take this deck down. Getting destroyed by this on turn 7 is pretty rare, and having grinded with this deck in the last meta, I can say its fairly difficult to ever assemble the god hand early. Usually you're forced to play out your hand because dhunter's clears aren't really all that great.

Tickatus nerf will probably never happen, and to be honest its really unnecessary. Jaraxxus is by far a better ender, and Cascading Disaster is the real reason why control warlock is anywhere near competitive. Tickatus is a somewhat insurance card, and is mostly only effective against priests, not that jaraxxus himself wouldn't do the job anyway.

I believe they were planning to look at potential card changes this week so depending on the result of that meeting it'd likely be 1-2 weeks from now, yes.

  • Cards We Would Like to See Nerfed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

How far does this upcoming balance patch gonna be? a week? two maybe? Because honestly, balancing things when it get so close to the miniset is not really useful in 'refreshing' the meta.

  • Cards We Would Like to See Nerfed in the Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Patch

Oh and they need to completely obliterate Deck of Lunacy for tournaments. If I see Mage doing nothing nothing for 4 turns and miraculously pull the exact answer needed out of their prolapsed asshole one more time I'm going to go homicidal.
