Time will show but we haven't seen Targon rise during the aggressive metas LoR has seen lately, and you have to have a certain amount of landmarks in your deck to level up Malphite. Thus, you are prone to drawing some really slow cards. Spending 3-4 mana on a landmark while your opponent develops 1 or 2 minions seem like a bad trade off.
And if you are playing Targon you might just play Asol/Zoe, so you aren't forced to have a bunch of slow cards. I might be wrong here and it depends on the landmarks. I just haven't seen anything that can prevent you from dying on t5-t6.
Teron Gorefiend is a really strong card in this deck as well. I'm using almost the same list and got my win 12 ranked games in a row achievement with it yesterday :)
Glad you like the deck :) I've been thinking about the paladin matchup myself, since its the start of the new month and plenty of players are jamming paladins for the easy wins.
Thank you. I've edited my quote as well, since that doesn't happen automatically when you change the original. I hope we're cool, I didn't want to offend you and asking for an edit seemed worth a try instead of straight out reporting the post.
After playing this deck for a bit, i can certainly say it's a really fun deck and i have gotten a decent winrate with it. As said it's not that good against spell mages who ignore board, BUT i have seen a lot of spell mages actually using their burst to remove stuff instead of pointing face lol. The deck works pretty decently against warlocks, who often actually run out of clears... or because they dont have the time to play Tickatus. Control Priest is also a good matchup, because they need to remove everything twice. (Initial board of minions + minions after deathrattles trigger. Actually against priests i can often just get away with keeping Primordial Protector in mulligan lol.) But Paladin is a bit more tricky matchup, in my experience it depends on draw and your skill. (To be more precise, your skill on knowing how to play around the paladin secrets, and when you should trigger them.)
This is really fun deck to play, and it feels sooo good when i beat a FACE hunter with 1-5 hp left! It takes a bit to really learn the deck and use if effectively, but after you know how to use it it performs well on ladder. (ty for posting it Dapperdog, it's been a blast playing this deck!) :]

But Targon already got its champion for this expansion: Malphite. The three champions for the last set should be Shurima, Bilgewater, and Piltover/Zaun; SkinSpotlights discovered audio files that gave away most of the champions (again):
Shurima is rumored to be Rek'Sai, but she doesn't have much in the way of voice lines to be sure. Another possibility is Xerath, but he was not in the leaked files IIRC.
Everyone else revealed/released so far were in the files.
Plus...you know...Targon has a Daybreak champion already :P

I'm afraid that some people will walk away from this result and claim that Nasus/Thresh and TLC are fine and don't need nerfs - after all, none of the winners had either of those decks.
The actual reality is that it was very predictable that players would bring those decks (due to their very high power level), so the winners were the ones who successfully built their lists to target those decks.
The winning decklists are generally not top tier decks, but they are very good against TLC and Nasus/Thresh specifically.
Side note - I'm kinda terrified of what a Targon's Peak deck can do with the new card, Buried in Ice.
I think this card is harder to use than it looks. The fact that you can't choose the target and that this card has to be your first card played each turn may be really awkward to use sometimes. It is certainly strong for it's cost but not 5 stars imo
a 0 mana elusive 1/1 with an ability meant for combo'ing is something that hardly can be bad but we don't have the payoff for this card to actually be nuts so let's see if it we get it.
If you think how this card plays out then... I take a 5/3 spellshield/Challenger/tough/overwhelm. The card bears the chance to brick which proably kill's It's competetive viability but this card is far from a bad card
According to this official Blizzard blog post, the seasonal ranked rewards are indeed Standard cards only. That is a bummer. Reaching at least Diamond 5 every season has become a bit less interesting now I know this 😔
Oh well, it is still 100 extra arcane dust though!
This is similar to Arachnoid Sentry. It costs less mana, which is a very big deal; but you can't choose the target of its stun, and the stun only triggers if it's the first card you play that turn. Also significant is that this is a Targon card, not a Noxus card; Targon as a region excels in taking over in the late game due to the Invoke mechanic, which means they naturally make better use of stalling tools like this one.
This is a very strong card for Targon in general, and for Leona and Yasuo + Leona decks in particular. 5/5

Everyone is excited about Yasuo with these cards.
Meanwhile, I see a glimmer of a hint that the final set of this expansion will have a Daybreak champion in Targon.
Yeah, my brain freaked out on me a bit. When I wrote this, I saw Targon and wrote Targon, but I was thinking Shurima.

New Shurima Card - Merciless Hunter
In a way this unit is better than Sejuani so I guess we will see this card a lot...
New Targon Landmark - Eye of the Ra-Horak
They REALLY want yasuo leona decks to become a thing I suppose.

Good luck to all finalists!
I do have a question though, why are there ten finalists for this week when there's usually eight? Was there a three-way tie for eighth place?

It's a 4/5 without that.
