  • New Warrior Spell - Physical Training (Rank 1)

I just think this card is too slow both to scale and to realize the buffs. Playing this at rank one means you aren't buffing a many minions, and waiting until later ranks means that the slightly scaled up buffs aren't even that impactful later in the game. I just don't see an ideal use case for Conditioning (Rank 1).

  • New Warrior Spell - Bulk Up

Handbuff Taunt Warrior historically hasn't worked and I don't think it will work now given the tools they were given this expansion. While Mor'shan Elite is a high roll with this card, there isn't another really good target I'd feel good enough buffing and copying. I also think Warrior just has more efficient strategies than handbuffs that there isn't much of a reason for me to think this will be competitive.

  • Decks auto updating???

    Staff Pro

Ah shit. I'll figure it out, I made a mistake when I did some magic earlier.

  • New Neutral Minion - Oasis Thrasher

I don't think aggressive decks are willing to commit resources to damage their own minions on their turn just for three face damage. The face damage isn't even guaranteed, which makes me want to run something with a more consistent output like Sneaky Delinquent.

  • New Neutral Minion - Lushwater Murcenary

Another good follow up to Spawnpool Forager. I don't see any class having a murloc deck right now besides Shaman, and I'm a little skeptical of Murloc Shaman's finishing potential, but I still think Lushwater Murcenary will find a home in some murloc deck eventually if Murloc Shaman doesn't work out this expansion.

  • Decks auto updating???

Also i have this too, and they've been updated in order from least upvotes to most it seems.

  • Decks auto updating???

Two links for this thread on the front page but only one of them actually works? Just me?

  • Name theories for next expansions.

This cavernous maze is known for housing a sleeping druid,  Naralax, and his students now twisted by the Emerald Nightmare all becoming the Druid of the Fang.

It was only a maze your first time through and if you didn't jump at the one cliff lol

Also i think it was pretty much confirmed through art that wailing was going to be the theme for the miniset and i don't have a link to it, but i saw it on the front page here if i remember correctly. I have heard people say ironforge would be the theme of the alliance part of the expansion, but it just doesn't really ring with me if you compare it to the barrens. That's why i said redridge or westfall. Westfall in particular, is very similar to the barrens for alliance, and it houses the deadmines, just like the barrens has WC. It seems to click for me at least. But then again how many alliance character skins are there compared to horde skins? We only got a tauren this year. Maybe alliance will get the longer end of the stick again.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

    @Live4vrRdieTryn got it!

  • Name theories for next expansions.

Most predictions have it as Lordaeron. I think this could be right. If we go with the Lordaeron hints how does this apply to the Alliance? This was once a major city now fallen and used as the Undercity by the Forsaken. Seems weird but in the past (warcraft 3) this was a major plot point. Arthas killed his father in that throne room with those petals falling as we see in the preview picture. This is why I think we'll time travel to that point (or some mix of past and present) and reimagine that moment in Hearthstone. Kurtus Ashfallen's flavor text says he is chasing Anetheron, the dreadlord. We see him in World of Warcraft in the Caverns of Time Hyjal raid. A Raid reliving the battle at the end of Warcraft 3 with Archimonde. So in chasing him maybe our Mercenaries end up at the wrong destination?

But before that, we have the mini set. With Darkmoon Faire we got a peek at their races. For Barrens, two things we didn't touch on. One of the big dungeons of the area, Wailing Caverns. This cavernous maze is known for housing a sleeping druid,  Naralax, and his students now twisted by the Emerald Nightmare all becoming the Druid of the Fang.

We also have Ratchet, a goblin port "city" missing from mention in the cards. It's only mention is Ratchet Privateer. Could be expanded more much like Mean Streets of Gadgetzan did. With Kazakus, Golem Shaper back and some handbuff support maybe we'll see the return of the other gangs.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • New Neutral Minion - Burning Blade Acolyte

Reminds me of Twilight Summoner, which probably means the initial body is too slow and non-threatening for the cost to ever see play.

  • New Warlock Spell - Grimoire of Sacrifice

Traditionally these self-destroy effects have seen play when they are tempo oriented, which Grimoire of Sacrifice isn't. Control Warlock already was School Spirits and Fire Breather for AoE and Zoolock doesn't care for the AoE. Overall, I just don't see what Warlock wants to use this card.

  • Name theories for next expansions.

I’m pretty sure the next set will have something to do with Ironforge. Going purely off the cardback given to us last year.

  • Decks auto updating???

I noticed all of my decks suddenly say updated in the last 2 hours, and I checked and it’s the same thing with other accounts too, some accounts with 100s of decks suddenly show them all as being updated at different times in the 2 hours.  What is going on, is this supposed to be happening?

  • New Rogue Minion - Oil Rig Ambusher

This is a four mana SI:7 Agent that is more easily played on curve and has additional upside. Given how much Rogue likes drawing cards and using Shadowstep, the upside can easily be realized. The only thing going against this card is that a lot of Rogue's damage is super cheap along with their card draw to the point where they may not care about a 4/4 body unless the class slows down in the future.

  • The Cards We're Going to Miss Plenty When Saviors of Uldum Rotates

One thing I disliked about this set was that, unlike RoS, all classes had access to Zephrys and Alexstrasza. During RoS, only the EVIL classes got Galakronds and the other classes got nothing. In SoU, as it turns out, the classes that could utilise Zephrys and Alex the best were... Galakrond classes.

I realise there wasn't really any way to have the same card printed for only 4 classes, but it always felt strange that the EVIL classes had access to cards that were not intended for them.

  • New Neutral Minion - Lushwater Scout

Considering the historic aggressive nature of murlocs, this doesn't lend well to that history. Murlocs want to be dumped onto the board as early as possible, and I don't think plus one attack and rush makes it worth holding them back, not to mention that you don't want to play Lushwater Scout on curve because of its stat line. If a Murloc Shaman deck sees play, I don't think they will run this.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

  • New Paladin Minion - Veteran Warmedic

This is pretty synergistic with Libram Paladin, which has Animated Broomstick, multiple cheap holy spells with Libram of Wisdom, and cares about the lifesteal. You also more reliably get holy spells with Knight of Anointment, making Veteran Warmedic a consistently threatening card.

  • Is standard casual gone?

    Quote From TriMay

If I've read between the lines correctly, picking casual auto-queue's you against opponents you based on your deck's format.  If your deck is standard, you'll queue for standard casual, if it's wild, wild casual, if it's classic, classic casual.

I could be entirely wrong though, and even if I am right here, they're making this sound like it's a simplification when it just makes it more confusing :/

This is my understanding as well. This is also the explanation I heard from the Coin Concede Podcast.

When on casual, it will auto select your format (standard, wild, classic) based on your deck format. So you can play casual in all 3 modes, you just have to make sure the your deck's format is correct.

    EDIT:
Sorry didnt realize OOC already had an article on this
    https://outof.cards/hearthstone/2897-casual-gets-its-own-game-mode-matchmaking-has-not-changed

  • Is standard casual gone?

For the longest time in this game i played casual, and i quit this year, when i came back to hearthstone again.

    There's 2 reasons for it.

    1. No one plays casual in casual except me. People just play the same degenerate aggro netdecks as if they were on ladder and they misclicked somehow instead. If i want to test a deck or play a grindy matchup, where i get to play every card in my deck, and enjoy my time, i play the innkeeper.

    2. There is literally no incentive to play casual anymore. I used to do it because at least it was fun sometimes, but not even that anymore. And with the new battlepass it's clear they REALLY don't want people playing casually, they want you on that damn ladder. Well, i've been beaten down and here i am falling in line.

  • The Cards We're Going to Miss Plenty When Saviors of Uldum Rotates

    Staff

I realize it was a very weird choice, though I don't really have much of a connection with most of the SoU cards since I didn't play a whole lot during this time. Khartut Defender is a card that I have a love/hate relationship with and I feel that a lot of people do as well, so I picked it.

My second choice would probably have been Bazaar Burglary.

  • Reviewing Hearthstone's New Hunter Cards Arriving in Forged in the Barrens

So the damage your opponent will take would be equal to 6 minus whatever health is left of the minion, regardless of the Mo'arg Artificer's effect right? From that logic, then the damage the minion will take would be equal to its remaining health multiplied by 2.

I guess its obvious this interaction wouldn't work or otherwise this card would be the most dangerous face damage card ever printed.

  • New Neutral Minion - Kindling Elemental

The existing of Arid Stormer makes this a promising start to a promising elemental windfury package in Shaman. I think that all the mana breakpoints will work out for the elemental chain in that archetype, especially with the two-drop elementals and Fantastic Firebird.

  • New Shaman Minion - Earth Revenant

While this isn't as flashy as the other elementals, it will probably be needed to curve into the insane midgame tempo swing of Lilypad Lurker, which is basically a Rotnest Drake for elementals. I also wouldn't underestimate the AoE ping effect that will make the 2/6 body a better one to trade.
