I’m very concerned about the how the game will work with (or without) rotations. I agree that it’s a tricky issue, and any option will have pros and cons. Specific regions and champions mean so much to players that it’s hard to take them out, and because the regions are not evenly distributed over expansions, a typical rotation would feel very unbalanced.
On the other hand, the number of powerful potential combinations keeps rising, and I don’t think it’s sustainable to keep growing the pool of cards without taking some out.
I’m open to creative solutions for this, but if the team doesn’t even have a plan yet then I’m worried that the game is heading toward a bad place in a year or two.
Saw the whole interview on stream, very insightful and I would recommend you guys to listen to it if you have the time.
They seem to imply the that the void won't necessary be the 10th region due to only having 8 champions but the other regions have even less, Ixtal only have 6 and the Bandle City only have 7 two of them are already in the game (Teemo and Lulu), maybe their planing to mix the latter two regions or maybe this just some misdirection.
I'm glad both of your featured Druid lists run 2x Savage Roar and 2x Force of Nature. I can't understand how anybody ever thought that running only one copy of each would be the better choice. We have learned so much since 2014...
Yeah, I don't agree with every card Cheese put into this set, but the effort he put into it is unmatched by a lot of people. This was a very long term project.
I think the art of Kill Command is just infamous for not matching up with any other card in the game, so the attempt to change the art seems to be to try to make it fit in with the rest of the game.
I personally don't have much faith in Power Word: Fortitude. Realistically, I don't think there will be any deck that A) is able to consistently hold 5 or more spells in their hand to get a decent mana discount. B) is running enough minions in conjunction to all of the spells that they are able to consistently have a target for the buff. And C) is playing the kind of deck that actually wants a slightly above average buff. If you are holding onto enough spells that you are able to get this to the desired mana cost, then you are probably playing a slower grindy control deck and would rather play something else instead.
I don't play a lot of priest though so I could be wrong.
Just broke into lvl 225 and will stop here. All combined I accumulated 14955 gold since the introduction of the reward track, without buying the tavern pass.
Thanks for the massive write-up. This must have taken you a VERY long time. We appreciate the effort.
As a response to one of the devs actual points, regarding TF/Fizz, I have to say that they are completely missing the mark with their evaluation of that deck, and of TF in general. "Only a 10-11% playrate" ... yeah, because people are fed up with it and many of them are refusing to play it, on principle, not because they don't think it's good. It has a super negative stigma, so a huge percentage of players are just flat refusing to touch it. The playrate metric doesn't account for this.
About TF specifically - they insist he wasn't a problem and was just "flexible" - so how do they explain the fact that probably about half of the nerfs in the game since Rising Tides have been targeted at TF's decks? If he has been OK all this time, how does he keep finding his way into the decks that end up needing to be nerfed?
*holds up his hands* "Not my fault - it was those other guys ..." *sneaks off to find another deck to force into being nerfed a couple months later*
Edit: And just to call out the dev on his stats, I just checked mobalytics - yes, some people are meme-ing with TF, which is pulling down his overall numbers. I saw one list that has Concurrent Timelines in a TF/Fizz deck - ok, yeah. Let's include those stats in an argument that TF isn't that bad. But anyways, back to the point: Mobalytics has data for 267,000+ games right now with TF. His overall winrate is 51.8%, which is not less than 50%, obviously.
Edit #2 - I overstated his playrate, because I did not read the fine print of playrate on mobalytics. He's 48% of all bilgewater decks, not of all decks. That's still noteworthy, but not insane.
In Classic, there are Auras, which are always active minor buffs, and Seals, which have a short duration, a stronger effect and the ability to be consumed by Judgment (a flying hammer) to deal instant damage or apply debuffs to target enemy.
In Shadowlands, there is Holy Power, which is just like combo points for Rogue, except they are consumed 3 at a time to provide big damage/heals/mitigation.
I am on a project about a custom in-game RPG for Hearthstone.
I played WoW for so less time(like about 35-40 lvls) and these are only with two or three classes. I need an expert help for resource mechanics like mana, energy, focus and such.
I know the basic mechanics but when it is come to Combo points like rogues have or Runes of Death Knights, my experience in wow isn't enough to create new mechanics for my game mode because I don't even know if there are another mechanics like these for other classes.
I only know about;
Rage for Warriors, Druids*Bear form, Focus for Hunter and some pets, Energy and Combo Points for Rogue, Druids*Cat form Mana for General, Runes for Death Knights.
Both would be so helpful that If you answer here; or direct me to the some resource about these mechanics around web. The websites I have found about these are either old or guides about how to play the game and what is efficient in the way you are leveling so If you direct me a website, what I need is a resource that introduces the game mechanics for who doesn't know anything about WoW. Guides are mostly for people who knows the game's mechanics and what is the efficient way to play.
I'm not so convinced about a Lordaeron connection as some people are. I get the link between petals and Arthas' return there, but as @Synnr7 points out, it is Horde territory in (Classic) WoW and I highly doubt the Alliance themed expansion would put so strong a focus on the Horde and undead. Plus I don't think Lordaeron can claim exclusive rights to petals...
Time travel to force Lordaeron into place just seems so unnecessary when we've never been to Stormwind either. Similarly, the fact the Alliance began in Lordaeron doesn't trump the fact the Alliance has been led by Stormwind's king for the entirety of WoW.
In the end though, the Barrens isn't Orgrimmar, and I don't expect the next expansion to be set in Stormwind itself either. It is more likely centred in Alliance land (primarily in the southern part of the Eastern Kingdoms), with some cards almost certainly referencing Stormwind and perhaps Lordaeron too.
I have stopped doing my weeklies and dailies to leave up the maximum amount of available quests for the next Rewards track. I have multiple challenge friend quests lined up which will quickly jumpstart my XP progress. I somehow completed several new XP achievements but I did not collect the XP yet. It has been really hard to not click on them because I have the obsessive compulsive urge to want to get rid of that annoying red exclamation mark as soon as possible.
I will absolutely buy the Tavern Pass again because of all the new cosmetics and the XP boost.
And lastly, I am not going to repeat my end level for the current Rewards track anymore -> level 350 😆
So at, the end of the Rewards track I´m stopping at lvl 255 and leaving all my Weeklies and Daylies for the new one. I am very happy with the results, I´ve bought the mini expansion and Sylvanas for gold, and still have plenty left for the new expansion (17k+). My average was 8k before. Gonna buy the TP again.
So where did you guys end? And do you plan to finish all your quests before the new track or save them for the next one?
Nice overview! I remember giving Death Speaker Blackthorn 5 stars, assuming they would print some good Deathrattles to support him. Adjusted it down to 2 stars after the full set got released lol.
