awesome, big priest gets 1 mana increase that will make zero difference meanwhile apm druid gets banned out of the fucking game despite taking 10x the skill to pull off. so sick of seeing every single interesting combo deck not just nerfed but completely banned from existing, this is not how you balance a game, you give other decks the tools to combat the combo decks instead of deleting them.
every other archetype can get whatever they want but as soon as any combo/tempo deck gets any amount of play it has to be nerfed to nonexistence or banned completely. even naga mage, the highest skill cap deck in standard gets slapped for being too strong. does it not occur to anyone at blizzard that there might be players whose primary interest in the game is playing decks that reward you for being able to play well and quickly with big tempo turns or cool combos? finally for the first time since apm mage was ruined combo players had a high apm combo deck to learn and play and get better at and they just have to ruin it.
Hmm, I don`t think Cabal Lackey is viable anymore. It is really bad now compared to Anonymous Informant.
It is a relevant nerf to Secret Mage, but the deck will still be viable.
I don`t like the change to Shadow Essence. I don`t think this will make a difference. Big Priest will still be the same level of annoyence than before.
Epic has already been recycling games every now and then - I go to pick up a free game and it turns out I already own it, and I definitely didn't buy it.
If they move to less big-name games, you shouldn't expect stuff like Subnautica to show up for free outside some Christmas event. The excel is actually pretty interesting to look at. Entitlements shows how many people claimed the game for free, and the EPIC UA Cost column shows if how much they paid the developer (Buyout price) was a good investment. For Celeste, for example, they overpaid, as the UA cost is really high. At least, that's what I think it means :D
The article was getting a bit too chonky so I didn't spend much talking about the mystery box, but you make a good point with POE players craving POE's loot boxes.
Compare POE's loot box to any other sort of loot box mechanic on the market. I'll pick Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone for my example. HOTS' loot boxes are only purchasable with gold, and the contents are purely cosmetic. HS loot boxes are purchasable with gold (albeit at a bad rate) or money (at a better but still bad rate) and the contents all affect gameplay.
POE's loot box has the following qualities: - A fairly restrained amount of things are contained in the box. 14-20 mtx, disregarding variations. - Duplicate protection - Mostly similar drop rates for each item. Some are slightly rarer as Chris Wilson sometimes notes in his voice-overs, but duplicate protection means you'll get them regardless.
Hearthstone's loot box (the card back) has the following qualities by comparison: - A large amount of cards (~130) in each set, and you "need" two of each for about 110 or those. - Duplicate protection per rarity tier. - Wildly differing drop rate for each rarity of card. What's more, two versions of card: Normal and Golden. What's even more, a third version, Signature, for a chunk of the cards in each set.
Heroes of the Storm's loot box: - An even more ridiculous amount of cosmetics of all varieties. - No duplicate protection. Getting a dupe converts it into 'Shards', which you can use to craft cosmetics. - Wildly differing drop rate for each rarity type, although less horrible discrepancy than Hearthstone.
I've purposefully chosen two other F2P games, with different contents to each loot box. Why are POE's loot boxes the most acceptable of the three? - While they can only be bought with money, they do not grant any gameplay-affecting loot (unlike Hearthstone) - While they can only be bought with money, their contents aren't an absolute mess of 1000 MTX that you'll grind for eternity if you want them all (unlike HOTS) - While HOTS has no duplicate protection, and Hearthstone's duplicate protection in no way increases your chance of getting those last 10 Legendaries you're missing any faster after you've already got the rest of the set collected, POE's duplicate protection transcends rarity. The order in which you get your cosmetics doesn't matter if you're looking to collect a fair few.
I can't express how happy I am for wild. Even not knowing what the changes will be, just the fact that they acknowledge the problematic decks and at least try to do something about them is a huge improvement. There's barely a problematic deck left imo and I'm very much looking forward to exploring the new meta.
Now i'm actually very happy to locate this web site and also would take pleasure in studying beneficial posts published the following. The particular tips with the creator has been great, thank you for your discuss. ทางเข้าgamehall
Loot boxes seem to be on a slightly downward trend recently, but microtransactions as a whole aren't going anywhere.
This statement might be true for other games but damn, when GGG took forever to release the TOTA mystery box in August, all their news posts comments were: "where's the mystery box?"
I for one spend too much money on PoE MTX coz they are that good. I eventually sold all my Dota 2 cosmetics on the Steam Marketplace just to purchase one of the (more expensive) PoE supporter packs.
My friends and I also have a "rule" at the start of a new league: You found a divine? Best thank Chris Wilson by buying a mystery box 😜

I really don't understand why so many people are talking about 10 folks leaving as the time to quit HS. The team has over 100 people (likely over 2-300 at this point) so 10 people in the grand scheme of things isn't very many. The time to quit was when the game started getting more RNG heavy, we didn't have duplicate protection, and the only thing we could buy was card packs or three cosmetic skins. Hearthstone had some dark times and bad monetization patterns in those days, even for a card game, which is why we saw the changes.
Agreed that it feels like a "cut some people loose before the acquisition" situation so Microsoft doesn't take the flak.
We can see DK buffs and I can already tell you what it would likely be, its gonna be a rune rework. Because none of those cards are bad, its just trapped inside a shell that can never work, and team5 properly capped themselves in the knee trying to discourage players from those triple rune cards but its not gonna work.
Because having designed DK's win cons within the triple rune cards, what makes them think anyone would want to play anything else? The entire rune system by itself is causing problems in that we're seeing the same decks over and over, and team5 is forced to keep all rune combinations OP as hell to get any one of them to see any play.
As for the nerfs, Im licking my lips right now because theres tons of useless legendaries in my collection that I can now get full refunds for.
One last note. For fuck sake please team5 design druid properly. I dont want druid to be a mess of unplayable shit, but at the same time playing druid shouldn't be a default single player experience. Nearly all druid decks fall under one or the other, being completely worthless or pulling out some disgusting combo that no one can beat. Unsurprisingly, their cards keeps getting nerfed all the time.
Great tip! It's an easy way to try and force certain class cards to appear which can help make the game a bit more accessible if you're on a budget and only care about a couple of classes. It is one of the better things they have added to the shop over the years IMO.
Wait wait wait. Are you telling me Wild is almost becoming fair with one patch? With Mechwarper FINALLY gone all mech decks actually have to pay mana for their shit instead of spamming out 8+ mana worth of stuff on turn 3. Gadgetzan and Frog removal/nerf should force people to again pay fair mana for card draw. Flurgle and Scargil, depending on the way they're nerfed, should stop giving Shaman just free wins and complete board dominance off of a single universal package. And Discardlock (hopefully) gets obliterated. Not sure what's gonna happen to Res Priest, depends heavily on how they nerf Shadow Essence. Might kill Res Priest, might at least slow it down enough that strategies other than absurd aggro get to have a shot against them. So many design mistakes fixed, assuming those nerfs are actually done in a meaningful way. Off the top of my head, the only major decks unaffected by these are Kingsbane (which should make a comeback after these nerfs) and Secret Mage, which will depend on how the Kabal Lackey nerf goes. We might just have a brand new meta overnight.
Edit: ooph, forgot about Totem Shaman. That might be the new meta overlord.
Skins purchasable with gold coming with 5 class packs is actually a great deal. You're essentially buying the hero portrait for 500 gold. And if you're new to class packs there are good chances you're getting a legendary.
Tip: wait for the new expansion launch to open the class packs if you're having a decent collection.
Just a quick question. Suppose i want to write an article about a game that isn't in the top, play/knowledge-wise, and i don't care about getting money nor joining the outof.cards content team, is there somewhere i can send it for review?
I'm not talking specifically about zero-day news, but maybe our own gameplay tips/etc. Even taking some opinions from other people and compiling something useful (with proper references links) etc.
US law in, I believe, all but one state, allows employers to lay off employees without needing to give them an x-week notice. I can only assume they don't bother being nice and doing it anyway because of any combination of the following reasons:
The employee probably won't put in the 'regular' amount of work when they know they'll be out in two weeks.
To avoid the employee doing something that could mess with their product.
Both these reasons show the employer having basically no trust in the employee, and is honestly extremely insulting, especially to people like Hunter C., who's been with the company for 18 whole years.
According to Mythic+ data and Warcraft logs, the number of players completing raids and dungeons were substantially less in the Dragonflight expansion launch compared to Shadowlands. So according to data, it just goes to show how badly Shadowlands burnt players that never returned for the next expansion. I'm sure Blizzard also have this data so maybe that's why they brought Chris Metzen back to try salvage what's left of Retail WoW.
As for WoW Classic, whatever they do, they better not remove Deathwing from the lore. I'd be very upset with that retcon.

Still doesn't seem to be working @Fluxflashor. The fact it can't be found though seems oddly fitting for it being removed after how many years? ;)

There's actually a pretty cool excel photo that came out... I think during the Epic vs. Apple trial? Not sure. Anyway, it shows how much Epic has paid for a bunch of the games they gave for free: https://www.thefpsreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/epic-games-store-free-games-cost-breakdown-2019.jpg
