Somewhat off-topic, here in Canada right now our grocery industry has record profits meanwhile everyone working the stores is having problems affording the same food they are selling. Absolutely FUBAR. Public companies were honestly a mistake.
No idea why American companies are so harsh with lay offs. In the company I work for, if there are redundant positions, the employees are first given the opportunity to change teams or at least go through the interview process again for a different team/department (within the same company) if there's vacancies available.
ABK definitely has that "corporate no care" behavior, very sad.
Undead Priest is still working fine. I've climbed to D3 with it on a 6-star-bonus. To my surprise, Warrior isn't the worst matchup, Warlock is far more difficult to handle (Defile is a nightmare for Reborn boards). Soulburner Varia is a nice addition to the usual list. I replaced Astalor with her to spice things up a bit - as powerful as that guy is, playing him has become boring (insert angry reminder of the reasoning behind the Renathal nerf).
Them saying they're redundant positions gives off nothing but bad signs for the game. If anything it feels like they need more people as the game is riddled with bugs that take a while to solve. And the monetization seems more and more greedy with offers like 50$ for 3 cosmetic cards. Honestly, I'm more concerned about the Microsoft acquisition now. A big company like that will dismiss Hearthstone very quickly if they see it doesn't create much profit and that the studio is just another expense.
I think these list are outdated. Some of the miniset cards actually work themselves into meta decks, like Sanitize and General Vezax but more crucially, the fact that miracle druid and miracle rogue isnt here is perhaps an oversight.
I was in a small stream of my friend’s, someone came in all “I guess it’s time to quit HS” like the whole team got laid off or something. I thought that sounded crazy given they just made a new mode, maybe brought back some older players, etc. However, I couldn’t find anything at first. But a restructure before the completed buyout sounded more reasonable. Might have even gotten Microsoft feedback on cuts to make the transition easier. Cut them now instead of later when it’ll look like MS layoffs.
Ranking wikis based on number of pages isn't a great metric - Wowpedia for example has a pages for a good chunk of all the quests in the game, with not many in my experience have had content that helps people with pain points during them and instead exist to function just as a database - something a non-wiki site does much better. That's not to say there aren't good quest pages on Wowpedia, because there are and there is great historical information on a page such as for Thunderfury's questline, but they are a rarity.
Pages on wikis that don't provide a boost of true usefulness have never been really interesting in my eyes so there is clear bias there. Wowpedia does need to find a new host though because fuck giving Fandom any more views! I hope they figure out a new domain so if they ever have to migrate again, they can take the domain and run.
I should also mention that the HS wiki likely isn't that big anymore from a traffic point of view. HS as a whole gets less traffic on the internet now and Fandom certainly added a ton of new wikis to the site over the almost decade Hearthstone has been around - I'm showing my age and bias.
Layoffs reportedly hit Blizzard today. A tools engineer at the company for 18 years said they were suddenly let go without notice due to a restructuring of the Hearthstone team. Waiting for comment from Activision Blizzard.
Source tells me 10 people impacted, all within Hearthstone. Activision Blizzard statement: "Organizational changes were made to the Hearthstone team; as a result a small number of roles have become redundant. We want to thank these employees for their many contributions."
It's certainly possible some positions could be hit due to the Microsoft acquisition going through. I'm not certain that will happen. Blizzard might be a part of the Microsoft family, but they should still be their own studio, much like all the other studios under the Microsoft Games/Xbox branch. It's not like they'd dump the social team and use an existing studio's team.
I hope there aren't any big layoffs if they do happen. Blizzard needs all the people they can get to keep their stuff pumping for Game Pass.
I'm not sure the Hearthstone wiki was even in the top 500 in terms of number of pages. Wowpedia is like #2 or so. Let's hope they leave. Still, for like 99% of stuff there is no alternative other than Fandom.
Great news to see! Looking forward to all the new content on this site 😊 Always enjoyed the Hearthstone content from way back when Flux was still working on Hearthpwn and found outof.cards the much superior site after the move. I've had very little site issues and always enjoyed the welcoming community. Hope outof.games gets a boost in content and popularity coz Flux and the team deserve a big win 😎🦄
I'd say out of all the classes, Rogue got the "most interesting/most RNG" this mini-set with the concoction/Chaotic Tendril miracle rogue. The card isn't that bad and every time I've faced the deck, each spell cast was beneficial to the owner. Doesn't take long to get to the 10 mana spells and those start to hurt
Quick tip: You can add "-siteName" in the search bar to avoid the site that you named. So, if you want to look for "path of exile wiki -fandom", it will give results that don't include Fandom. There's a chance you won't find another wiki, though.
OMG this is such valuable info! I've been using the fandom poe wiki for way too long 😥 glad to see though as I google search "poe wiki" it shows poewiki.net as the first link.
Overall very valuable info and great article Flux. I've always used adblockers so didn't noticed so many ads on Fandom wikis but have noticed the lack of/ or bad quality of information on their wikis over the years. Sadly this includes all types of entertainment, not just gaming.

Firing producers is no coincidence. The latest trailer was so underwhelming and it looks like that will become a trend.

Yeah it's way too many advertisements causing the problems.
We're not exactly out of that realm either with our ad stack, but it's a hella less intrusive than the nonsense at Fandom.
