Yes sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm playing more often LoR since January so right now my experience with card games is Hearthstone where usually you pay for more deck related content instead cosmetics when a new expansion launches. I thought it was a mini event you paid for having more card archetypes and not too much oriented on cosmetics. Having at least one copy of each new champion, a "wildcard" for a deck on the store, more chests... Something like this.
After you've been playing for a while, you'll reach the end of the region rewards -- these basically give exactly what your talking about for free. :-P
I got 1 copy of Lissandra, Jarvan, and Kindred yesterday for 2000 XP/ea; working on LeBlanc right now. Also got 3x copies of Sun Disc for free. You can also choose to focus on a specific region to get more of the new non-champ cards from that region, but I've been jumping around because I want to try as much new stuff as I can.
Yeah. It’s a lot. IF you’re going to play that much anyway and if you’re willing to spend money on the game, then the pass is a no-brainer. The rewards are a better deal than any other way to spend money, even if you only care about a handful of the items you’re getting.
But if you’re not going to play that much otherwise, then the time cost is significant. I pushed to finish the Spirit Blossom festival last year, and I think that’s why I burned out on the game for a while. Right now I’m playing more than ever, so I think this will be a great festival for me. But if you don’t see me commenting on anything next month, you’ll know they drove me away again.
This thing saw no play as a 4/4, so team5 decided after a collective meeting of the brains to make it a 5/5, instantly transforming this from an execrable pile of stinking trash, to slightly less trash than before.
But jokes aside. The real reason why this one will never see play is simply because of the mana cost, as opposed to the guaranteed body. Even if this was a 6/6 body (which means at its lowest low row of Stonetusk Boar its still 8/7 stats for 7) its a 7 mana card that doesn't win you the game. Then there's the variance of getting something really good like Teacher's Pet or the legendary King Krush, as opposed to Stonetusk Boar or the famous River Crocolisk being so great, is there any reason to not just play a good card as opposed to something that might be good.
Bear in mind that cards like these are designed for memes. Its simply impossible for team5 to ever make this a good card because its just going to replicate the famous 'will rag hit minion or hit face' scenarios in all games. Narrowing the beast pool so it gets you good beasts more than 50% of the time will make this playable, but at the cost of making the game frustrating for everyone, including those who play it.
The devs did consider this, and they decided it was not a workable addition to Hearthstone, probably for the reasons mentioned above.
I personally would not like it at all because it could only serve to further polarize games. Polarization is the biggest balance challenge in most CCGs, and Hearthstone is no exception. We need ideas that will make more games feel winnable, not cause more auto-concedes.
Maybe we'll see more decks in form of Catapults and stuff from Alliance and Horde? I don't think they would have included this if mech support was not going to be added.
New Neutral Minion - Loot Hoarder
Now that Novice Engineer is gone it's good that combo decks won't have as many core tools for drawing.
New Neutral Minion - Stoneskin Basilisk
Can't see this appearing anywhere outside arena.
New Shaman Spell - Feral Spirit
Great buff, can see play in both aggro and control decks now.
Even combo if they want to gain time I guess.
New Rogue Spell - Sinister Strike
I guess it can appear in aggro rogues, but now that malygos is gone the place for it will decrese a lot.
New Rogue Spell - Sprint
The question is if this will find a spot aside Secret Passage

New Rogue Spell - Preparation
Now that Sprint has its cost decresed we may see again this combo.
New Rogue Weapon - Assassin's Blade
This buff is incredible, without adding buffs to it from other cards this just hits for 10.
New Neutral Minion - Toxicologist
With the change to Assassin's Blade this could play there.
New Neutral Minion - Voodoo Doctor
Can't see this in any deck really, don't think will see play at all.
New Neutral Minion - Elven Archer
I guess this is here for being the vanilla battlecry card? Since Pen Flinger is still around I don't think this will see play at all
Core 2021
Thank god
New Neutral Minion - Abusive Sergeant
I guess this will only appear in zoolock and from First Day of School
New Neutral Minion - Argent Squire
So weird to be reading about these "new" cards.
Well, it's a solid 1-drop. What else is there to say?
New Neutral Minion - Arcane Anomaly
I can see this in aggro druid, you drop it turn 1 and then the buffed Mark of the Wild.
New Neutral Minion - Murloc Tinyfin
Will only appear in weird combo decks and from Devolving Missiles
New Neutral Minion - Worgen Infiltrator
I guess this will still see play in stealth rogue, aside from that maybe hunter or other aggros.

New Neutral Minion - Argent Squire
The vanilla dinie shield minion, good for core.
Seems like a fun deck to play with
Barrens NEW ETC Warrior!
I like ETC deck and think it can be refined if there are more supporting cards in the new expansion. Hopefullly
New Neutral Minion - Barrens Stablehand

New Neutral Minion - Spider Tank
With the current power level I don't know how good this will be, my guess is that not so much.
