Varied quests encourages playing between formats, which is good for Blizzard.
It really, really doesn't, though, with the sole exception of the quest you cannot reroll. As long as a reroll option exists, I will always choose that over actually playing Battlegrounds.
Players are willing to give new things a try when they are free. Free Arena/Duels tickets encourage people to try those modes. Battlegrounds being completely free has made it extremely popular. Hearthstone itself snares most of its players by being "free" (in air quotes). We've all tried all of these things not because of quest rewards, but out of simple curiosity. But once you've tried them, you know whether or not you like them. This weekly incentive to try them again is not engaging; it's annoying.
While I wouldn't say that she is bad, (I learned my lesson with Tahm Kench and Zoe). She just look like another aggro champion and Noxus has plenty of those already. I was hoping for something more control oriented like Swain.
I don't think that changing him to a 2/1 is going to change anything. Twisted fate is not hard to remove, the problem is that he levels up way too fast, so I would say make him harder to level up. Nerfing the red or blue card is also a good option.
I don't know. They seem to want to push Mage towards spell damage but the core set lacks any decent burn cards to profit from this (except Fireball). In general Mage will need quite a lot of support in the upcoming expansion imo.
What pisses me off pretty hard though is that they axed Polymorph, one of the most iconic Mage cards. Why Blizzard, just why? This was a perfectly reasonable and fitting card for Mage. Blizzard will also be missed.
Alright, so I'm not a fan of what they did to mage, but its not really too bad, and mostly because Fireball still exist. Unfortunately, one card does not alter the fact that mage as we know it is more or less dead. It used to be that mage was considered one of those classes that can basically ignore tempo because it can stall for days and isn't really short on draw. Now with Frost Nova, Blizzard, Doomsayer, and Frostbolt gone, the stall tactics are all but over.
Combo mage took a hell of a beating and I simply can't see it make a comeback. Losing apprentice is bad enough, but also losing the majority of its stall, Violet Spellwing, and Arcane Missiles means mozaki mage will have to go back to the drawing board. Something tells me that Barrens will introduce more freeze cards for mage, and maybe some other way to make use of those spell damage increases, or we just simply don't play any combo mage for a year.
Mage looks very one sided in what it can do. Then again, so do most of the other classes after the core set shift.
They still have Mask of C'thun, Apexis Blast and Ras Frost Whisper but those aren't cheap, you'll need a turn to set up whatever minion gets Aegwynn's effect and then use the spell.
Imprisoned Phoenix would be a great target for Aegwynn, the Guardian... there are no Frostbolt and no Ice Lance in standard, but if Mage gets another cheap burn spell, an OTK might come together. After all, with two Phoenixes in play and one of them having inherited Aegwynn's Spell Damage, you can already deal as much as 24 damage with two Fireballs. The lack of stalling tools like Frost Nova and Blizzard and the inconsistency of Aegwynn's Deathrattle would keep it at a reasonable level I guess.
Other than the first suggestion I don't think the other two are happening because RubinZoo talked about it and said that changing TF's cards felt clunky compared to what we have right now. Honestly one of the suggestions I want to say is just to readjust his level up in general. The condition could be upped to 10 and I think that's the most possible change. Or make it much weaker so that it's not as an amazing win con anymore. Kind of like what they did to Ezreal. Though I'm not exactly sure how to go about it. The safest bet is still the 2/1 possibility, but I feel like there's a better solution to this that we just haven't seen.
Not sure what the big uproar is surrounding this card. King Krush hardly sees play outside of rare meme OTK decks. And we already know DH is best at aggro and tempo (which includes Soul DH). The class would need some other insane big demons for a big demon deck to emerge. So this card will see as much play as Hulking Overfiend
Turn 1 Cogmaster into Turn 2 Annoy-o-Tron is pretty nasty play. Problem is, only 2 health on both. I wish the Core had ways to buff health (like Beaming Sidekick).
Very hard to judge this card, I don't see players repetitively bouncing this back to hand very often. I would be surprised if it sees as much play as Pen Flinger seeing as there's such a limited number of outcast cards. Will probably see more play as more expansions get released, coz there will inherently be more outcast cards printed in future expansions.
I get where a lot of the criticism of the weekly quests is coming from - it can be frustrating to get a quest for a format you don't really want to play. But I think focusing exclusively on individual player responses to a given quest ignores a critical part of why Blizzard gives quests at all, and that's player engagement.
Blizzard could just as easily give you no quests, and just replace them with daily login rewards whereby you get 1000 XP just for logging in. That would be easy, and it would mean that no one has to play any format they don't want to just to max out rewards. But that wouldn't push players to engage with the game.
Let's take the "Play 3 Games As [Class A], [Class B], or [Class C]" example. It's not a hard quest to complete, but if you don't want to play any of those classes you might be disappointed to get it. (You might also be frustrated if they're classes without top tier decks.) Blizzard could just as easily see what decks you have constructed, or see what your play rates are for different classes, and give you a quest that better matches your preferred constructed play.
But they give you this slightly harder quest in the hopes that it will push you to branch out over time, explore the playstyles of every class, and maybe find a class you didn't think you liked, but actually love. That kind of discovery is positive for the player, and it increases engagement, which in turn can increase revenue.
With all that in mind, I wouldn't expect them to change this approach at all. Varied quests encourages playing between formats, which is good for Blizzard. That said, I do like the idea of swapping Win with Play - maybe something like swapping all "Win X" quests with "Play X + 2" or "Play X + 3" to reduce the burden of completing a quest for a format you don't like.

That is actually interesting consideration... let me redo it a bit.

Wrong. Hint: what’s the first creature that comes to mind when talking about cryptids? (at least going by the definition of “cryptid” on google)

I much prefer beast midrange hunters, compared to face huntards, so I am definitely looking forward to this card

So where does mage go from here? Tempo mage will be losing Mana Giant, Mana Cyclone, and unless Evocation gets unnerfed its likely too slow to make any impact. Secret mage gained Arcanologist but bizarrely having also lost Kirin Tor Mage and Arcane Flakmage, there's really little reason to want a secret in hand anyway. Tempo-burn mage is probably where mage is heading towards next, with some really good cards like Imprisoned Phoenix, Firebrand, Jandice Barov, and Ras Frostwhisper still in standard. Its also where Aegwynn, the Guardian will most likely find a place in.
Combo mage took a hell of a beating and I simply can't see it make a comeback. Most likely the red card nerf (because removing attune would be a flavour fail for tf) also maybe they add 1/2 cards to the level up condition

New Noxus Spell - Sigil of Malice
Blade's Edge finally can feel like a good card because it just got a bad cousin

It's a decent card with reminiscent affect to Lunar Eclipse. I'm sure it'll see play somewhere throughout the year

There has been some buzz that TF is finally gonna get a much-deserved whack from the nerf bat.
Assuming they actually do nerf him, what do you all think they will do?
My bet is on one of three possibilities, maybe a mix of more than one:
