I feel like a 5/1 is really underwhelming. Its a decent blocker but its so easy to punish and its stats make it worthless as an attacker if the enemy has any chumps that it is fine throwing away. The spell it gives you isn't even that great a pay off either.
I don't know...its solid when it gets reduced but its not insane...on the other hand its awful if you pay 4 mana for it. I just feel like you won't reliably pull this off and then you will be stuck with a pile of clunky rubbish.
Actually now that I think about it, this change is actually less beneficial for aggro. Most aggro list are typically filled with at least six 1 drops, and a whole slew of early game cards that in the late game comes as completely worthless. Old tracking would enable you to remove at least 2 useless topdeck cards while giving you an opportunity to search for lethal, or a much better card.
New tracking is better for the mid game, or slower hunter variants. In a way, I like the change because I usually dont play face hunter, but I can't help but feel that being able to thin down a deck by 2 cards may come across as more significant that we once thought.
I am so glad they did this. Cause every time I got a pre-made deck, guess what? I removed tracking and replaced it with another 1 cost card. Now, I have a reason to keep it. Thank you, Blizzard. At least they did something right with this Core Set.
Old tracking wasn't bad, in fact one of my favorite things about it was that it got players thinking about the pros and cons of the cards in your deck, and how manipulating that can be advantageous.
I do think this is a good change though as it makes the card text "cleaner" without impacting the mechanics of the card a whole lot.
Congrats man! I remember you posting a while back trying to hit Legend with Dragon Hunter, and I knew you could do it! So happy for you & enjoy your new card back :)
Well well, here comes the class that has largely benefited from all the core changes, perhaps more so than other classes. Unsurprisingly, that's because paladin's main game plan hasn't really changed much. Just about anything that's important to paladin is still here, Tirion Fordring, Truesilver Champion, Blessing of Kings, Equality, and Consecration, while losing its relatively interesting but for the most part worthless cards like Blessed Champion, Eye for an Eye, and Holy Wrath
Shouldn't be surprising that dude pally is likely to be the most popular, and perhaps best archetype, in the next meta. Card draw continues to plague paladin with the removal of Blessing of Wisdom and the now rotating Salhet's Pride, and it wouldn't surprise me too much if none is to be had in Barrens to draw paladin some cards. Tempo-wise, their cards are simply just better than the other classes. We should count ourselves lucky that Lightforged Crusader is rotating as well, or its likely to be unbearable.
What else can pally do? Murlocs are conclusively out of the way, with Murloc Warleader gone. Managerie paladin is a possibility, libram paladin suffers from card draw and since you can no longer tutor out Pen Flingers, it might be too inconsistent for the top meta. There's a small place for some kind of midrange paladin with Rally! as a centerpiece, so we forgo the dudes and bring in the usual stuff with rally for reload.
One thing is for sure. Paladin is likely to still be in the top 3 of the meta. Unless rogue and dhunters get some really powerful tempo tools, I can't see otherwise.
That's partially true, but having an advantage is different than flat out having a deck that shuts others out of the game, and its entirely different than having a singular card be the cause of such advantages. There are a lot of powerful tools in Targon but Hush alone is the reason why so many champions have been locked out of play. Vi is a decent example of this, being a card that was part of a top tier deck and now its entirely vanished because that one Targon card is so common and basically chops her legs off.

I feel like those cards should be openable somewhere, but really... I guess I’m not likely to buy more Legacy packs, so what makes me think I’ll want to buy Legacy Core packs?
Maybe if we all complain they’ll offer a bundle for gold or money that gives you permanent Wild copies of the new cards when they leave Core? But really how many will be impactful in a Wild meta? Guess we’ll wait and see.
Almost everyone on Reddit argues that the Tracking change is a nerf, and the way they justify it just sounds like people who try to make themselves look better than they are because they understand the "difficult to comprehend" value of deck thinning.
Yes, I get the feeling people have grown so accustomed to trying to convince people that the discard isn't hurting them, they've gone a bit overboard and started to believe it's the most important aspect of the card. In reality, the positive statistical impact of one or two cards' worth of deck thinning is super tiny -- literally exactly as tiny as the danger of "needing" the cards you lost.
This change doesn't make the card better or worse. It just makes it work the way they probably wanted in the first place.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but all card games operate on cyclical balance systems.
Aggro beats one thing
Midrange beats another
Control beats another
Combo beats another
But this can also be represented by regions Runeterra's equivalent of the colors of magic.
For example mono red (aggro) should have a favorable match up again mono blue (control)
The "fun" exists in region combinations and deck building iterations where we can bend these rules and expected outcomes to their breaking points...it's a beautiful thing
Yeah but think about the landmarks we've gotten so far. An arena so two creatures can fight each other. An over costed sac engine, a 7 mana champion engine, a self harm engine that gives followers tough.
A 5 mana charger generator is scary as hell by comparison.
Its consistent value every attack that your opponent needs to chump over and over and over again for the rest of the game.
Don’t forget Carnival Barker which may not be a “Dudes” card directly, it synergizes with them since they are 1 health minions. And the new spell Pursuit of Justice only buffs the attack of future SHRs, so it won’t disrupt that synergy either.

[GUIDE] Timeline Kindred Control
Good luck! I haven't seen anyone use Kindred with this combo, so I'm interested to see which version comes out on top.
Edit: One weakness of this list is a lack of three drops. If anyone has suggestions I'd be happy to hear them!

Love it. I hadn't gotten to tinkering with this idea yet; I will quite happily try your decklist.

Paladin has vexed me this year.
I've only ever taken Murloc Paladin seriously. I see no Murloc support in the core set. Warleader is gone. It's sad.
Fish people are people too.
