I find the colours matching very well with the new Diao Chan Valeera portrait!

Agreed, it's such a waste. You get to see your opponent's mainly when they discover something, and you pretty much never get to see your own.

  • LeBlanc Champion Reveal and New Noxus Cards for Runeterra's Empires of the Ascended Expansion

    -Rage Post-

She is one of my favourite champ in LoL and I won't even want to try her in LoR. SHAME !

Where is the all trickstery about her ?

I'm so angry at Riot, all of my favourite champs in LoL are crap in LoR. I know it is so early to say that she will be bad or good but she is not interesting to play neither.

They might even use Jandice Barov - like effect for her passive in LoL like; "When I die, Instead I am summoned again with 1 health and with my Mirror." And Mirror could have a text like "Your opponent can't see this text. I can't deal damage and whenever i take damage, i die." You simply level-up her for nothing. Because she won't survive for another 15+ damage most of the times and her requirement is "I saw" which is bad most of the times. She needs to be on board with her little hp.

Her blinks, Her Trickstery, All are gone for this Aggro crap. I had my hopes that some mage-like plays can be implemented to Noxus with LeBlanc. Now all is gone. They really want Noxus to be pure aggro region. That doesn't have to be. Red  in Mtg isn't like that. Even Hunter has some cool mechanics in Hs.

I am really disappointed. I will keep my high hopes for Akali -the other favourite champion of me- for some interesting plays it seems and will wait to see when she will be released.

Bloody Business is situational Whirling Death, that you don't have to wait for combat, Sigil of Malice is worse Mystic Shot. Whispered Words is just a good card tho, but not interesting.

Black Rose Spy might be good, but delayed most of the times. You might be too late to play her most of times and for duping Champs, there are better options.

Thorn of the Rose is just a filler to give cheaper 5 attack to players that is interested in Reputation but doesn't have enough cards. Most worthless of these. Not even related with LeBlanc. Seems like "Leblanc also can stun your enemies like in LoL!" stuff that Riot wants to say.

The only interesting card here is Mimic to gain copies of fast and Slow spells that your opponent cast. Might be the best card of this reveal.

I totally agree with you - since the first time I saw it I've always thought of it as a cool tempo/midrange card, not as an OTK one.

If we hear anything today, it'll be in about 2 hours (Blizzard almost always drops info at 1 PM Eastern on weekdays). I wouldn't be surprised if we'll get a card reveal schedule.

I was just coming to OoC to see what news.  Haven’t seen anything myself.

  • How is Mage Going to Perform in Hearthstone's Year of the Gryphon? Core Set Review

This is me thinking of mage in relation to it's WoW counterpart (or rather classic, as I have no idea what current wow mage excels at)...

The idea of spell schools gives credence to the idea that spells will now have "specs".  In relation to mage, this means that I think if supporting cards came out for it, things like Frost Barrier.  Maybe if you have frost barrier up, and you play some card that says "For the rest of the game your frost spells have +2 frost spell damage".  This means that frost barrier, which holistically couldn't gain any more value at it's default 8 armor, could potentially gain +2 armor.  Likewise your frost spells will gain power.  Maybe they'll have things like "shifting power" where one school will increase, but others decrease.  The spell schools open up a ton of meaningful deck building choices.

  • New Noxus Champion - LeBlanc

In fact this champion is the most cunning and most innovative Champion in all of LoR so far. The LeBlanc Champion is NOT the LeBlanc card. LeBlanc's level up is NOT giving damage, it is acquiring Reputation. Once you have 4 reputation you can use the support cards - in particular Black Rose Spy. This card is the real LeBlanc. This is why Black Rose Spy can copy a Champion because it is a Champion.

For example - play LeBlanc and attack for 5. Whether it is blocked is no matter. Next turn you block with it for 5 (10 so far) and it probably dies. But if you now have 4 reputation, you can play Black rose spy to resummon an Exact copy of LeBlanc, including its level up count. Continue like this until you get 30 damage (Noxus has alot of burn), and mirror image comes on line to summon multiple LeBlancs. Black rose spy can also copy any champion because LeBlanc can be anybody.

Read the reddit posts, once you get it, you will see how innovative and in keeping with the lore it is!

Check out the Level 1 and level 2 LeBlanc artworks - you can see in the reflection that everybody is LeBlanc...

It doesn't really matter if this is supposed to be Canon, but as a way to play with the card, this is how I would do it.

  • How is Druid Going to Perform in Hearthstone's Year of the Gryphon? Core Set Review

Nordrassil Druid is great, IDK what the author is smoking.  Play it on turn 4 and Wild Growth the same turn, you basically played a 1 mana 3/5.  Play Wild Growth on 3 and then Druid + Overgrowth on 5, you get a  1 mana 3/5.  Since you probably weren't going to do much on turn 5 with your Overgrowth anyways it's almost like a free 3/5.

  • Hearthstone's March 2021 Card Back, Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Has Arrived!

Yeah, it kinda blows my mind tbh. Aside from a few, every card back seems to just get better. This surely is unsustainable and the card back market is going to crash at some point. The great card back design bubble!

  • 'Warcraft III'-themed Expansion

    No Maiev Shadowsong. That's Sad.

I wanted to avoid having cards with the same name as an existing Standard card (I was less strict about this with Wild cards), so instead the Iron Raven, Blink and Avatar of Vengeance cards stand in for Maiev.

There are plenty of good idea in there, but I do have a few points of (hopefully constructive) criticism.

Thanks, I do appreciate having detailed feedback to think about.

don't think that motivates making everything into dual-class cards. It would be sufficient for both mage and paladin to have a human focus, for example, but to also have their own distinct cards.

Yeah, I can understand the dual-class thing causing problems. While I could divide the cards more strictly into their appropriate classes, I just can't help but feel like it wouldn't be right if you couldn't use all of a race's toys in a single deck. I don't think it's weird for Paladins to have freeze though, since they can throw a Frozen Shadoweaver into their deck like anyone else.  Although I won't deny that this does present an issue with Secrets.

Neutral weapons with non-0 attack is always a no-no.

I guess I should mention that I got into Hearthstone with the Dragons expansion, so I don't really have a historical context for why something should/shouldn't be. I guess I didn't think much of it since even a Mage can swing an Ashbringer in Standard with the right cards in play.

You have a disregard for vanilla stats.

Guilty. I feel it's justified though since I don't think I ever saw someone use a vanilla card even once outside of new accounts. This might change with the new core set though, since some of them appear to be seeing buffs like Raid Leader.

The Sentry Ward, Shade and Sentinel Owl, all of which can be summoned very early on at next to no cost, should not have permanent stealth. Revealing the opponent's hand, in particular, ought to be valued quite highly.

Agreed. They probably could use some kind of a rework. Probably making it Stealth for 1 turn, or preventing them from being on the board so early.

  • My wish for weekly quests

    Quote From FortyDust

It really, really doesn't, though, with the sole exception of the quest you cannot reroll. As long as a reroll option exists, I will always choose that over actually playing Battlegrounds.

You can't really assert that "it really, really doesn't" in general; you can only make that claim for your own personal experience. The only way to know whether or not there's a real increase in user engagement across the millions who play the game is to get usage data from Blizzard. And anyway, I'm not arguing that this sort of "quest-driven cross sell" effort is highly effective, I'm just saying that it's why Blizzard (and other CCGs like MTGA and LoR) offer randomized quests - they're hoping to encourage you to engage in more of the game. This can be as simple as trying a class you wouldn't otherwise play, or it could be engaging in a different format like Duels.

Your point about rerolling quests in any format you don't like is clearly true for you, but there are plenty of other players who don't do that for every quest. For example, the "Deal 1500 damage to enemy minions in Battlegrounds" is pretty easy to finish in two or three decent runs because of how much damage you can deal in a single game. Plenty of "Constructed main" players prefer just completing it rather than going through the hassle of rerolling until they get a more constructed-friendly quest (particularly given the 25% odds you've already mentioned of getting another Battlegrounds quest, and the comparative difficulty of other weekly quests - including constructed ones like "Play 30 Corrupt Cards" which requires a specifically tailored deck and potentially lots of games).

    Quote From FortyDust

Players are willing to give new things a try when they are free. Free Arena/Duels tickets encourage people to try those modes. Battlegrounds being completely free has made it extremely popular. Hearthstone itself snares most of its players by being "free" (in air quotes). We've all tried all of these things not because of quest rewards, but out of simple curiosity. But once you've tried them, you know whether or not you like them. This weekly incentive to try them again is not engaging; it's annoying.

I agree that content being free is a necessary condition of getting player engagement. This is why Hearthstone dropped its "Finish an Arena run with 4 wins" weekly quest; no one wanted to pay into the format just to complete a weekly quest. But it's not always sufficient for it to be free, because implicit in everything is some time cost (i.e. if I spend an hour playing Battlegrounds, that's an hour I can't spend playing Constructed). In-game rewards is the most concrete way to convince people to spend that time in a format they would otherwise avoid. Sometimes this is in the form of Legendary Quests, like the recent Lunar New Year quests, which had players playing every major format to get packs. But these regular weekly quests serve the same purpose.

Moreover, I think Blizzard is strongly incentivized to keep giving you these quests even after you've tried a format (even if you feel like you don't want to play that format) because they keep updating these formats. They cannot know whether an update to the format will finally interest you unless they drive you toward that format again. (I think Duels is a good showcase of this sort of thing. When Discard Warlock was super broken, the balance for the format was an issue that drove players away. After several updates, a lot of those players might like the format, so quests help to drive re-engagement.)

If the quest rewards system starts decreasing overall engagement (e.g. players dropping out of the game because they're sick of weekly quest rewards pushing formats on them, etc., leading to a sense that the game is not rewarding enough), you can probably expect changes to the reroll system. Maybe they'll add a "duplicate protection" to rerolling weekly quests over the course of a week, or maybe they'll give you two "weekly rerolls" at the start of the week to help kick things off right. But they really have no reason to let you cut yourself off from entire formats because that kind of cross-sell is a good way to get more/longer engagement from players.

  • How is Druid Going to Perform in Hearthstone's Year of the Gryphon? Core Set Review

Nordrasill Druid's pretty good if you wanna play spells that cost like, 3 or less. Like, play her and then Mark of the Wild and you have a 5/8 with taunt.

There's also Wild Growth, Landscaping, Feral Rage, Moontouched Amulet, Lunar and Solar Eclipse, Guess the Weight and fungal fortunes for great tempo plays.

Anything 4 mana and up you'll need at least 5 mana to play this minion and the spell, which is still good tempo, but you'll probably want to play Overgrowth on turn 4 instead of waiting for turn 5

  • F2P Core 2021 only Zoo theorycraft

Annoy-o-Tron can definitely protect Cogmaster with its Taunt and Divine Shield. Most of the classes don't have a way to deal 2 direct damage on turn 2.

  • How is Warrior Going to Perform in Hearthstone's Year of the Gryphon? Core Set Review

I'm perfectly fine with ETC not being an OTK card.

  • Forged launch / reveal?

do we have any info about the start of reveal ? launch is supposed the 23rd ... so not much time left ...

  • F2P Core 2021 only Zoo theorycraft

Void Terror (buffed to 3/4 btw) might also work, especially on curve with Nerubian Egg.

    Other things you might consider:

Argent Squire to have a nice synergy with Dire Wolf Alpha on curve.

Crazed Alchemist to swap big enemy minions for easy trades or to turn your minion into a finisher, such as Lakkari Felhound.

Ironbeak Owl to get past taunts etc. Silence is op.

Abusive Sergeant or Dark Iron Dwarf to break Nerubian Egg.

This deck could definitely use Sea Giant, but it's rotating. I guess it's fine. It makes you think other options.

I like the idea, I mean core set only decks are very nice, especially because what I hope (crossing fingers) it might mean the introduction of people who have no collection to draw on.

  • How is Mage Going to Perform in Hearthstone's Year of the Gryphon? Core Set Review

Remember the core set isn't evergreen. It will rotate and be replaced by a new core set the following year. Poly, etc. could come back.

  • How will they nerf Twisted Fate?

Swim might have a point. Twisted Fate is indeed a really good champion, but he isn't necessarily the core of the problem. The Bilge draw engine around him, on the other hand...

But, if they nerf him, from the 3 option, maybe I would choose the second too.
