  • Killing off the "new": quests for DMF

The hardest achievement will always be Paladin's Oh My Yogg, the rest is impossible because I don't have the card for it.
Like Priest's Steal Enchanment with The Nameless One, Rogue's Drawing 5 card with Shekzara, Druid's Greybough, and Warrior's ETC.

I don't know why they made it like that. To me, achievements in general shouldn't be limited to some cards.

It is understandable for cards like Shek'zara who has a unique effect that suits a one-off achievement awarded for doing something exceptional. There are a few similar achievements that can be made more general to be completed in multiple ways (e.g. the one for controlling a 20/20 minion), but often these are fundamentally tied to an individual card.

It's a similar story for the achievements where you just do something a large number of times. These are only interesting when they are encouraging you to do something that wouldn't happen over time by accident. It's really a misuse of the word to call summoning 200 taunt minions an 'achievement', but 200 Greyboughs indicates you have (probably) got up to some serious shenanigans with it's deathrattle.

In the end, everyone's opinions on what achievements are meant for differ. To me, good achievements encourage players to explore the game to its fullest. Unfortunately for card games, 'to its fullest' necessitates ownership of the full collection, which is unrealistic for most players. So there's a definite conflict between the underlying ideologies of card games and achievement systems.

Agreed, the whole Anduin chapter was surprisingly fun Considering it was well... Anduin...

Fun is too strong a word. Its basically the same as Jaina; easy to get over with. Even the most unfun design is easily forgiven if I can pretty much steamroll past it, which was what I thought mostly about Jaina's and now Anduin's.

Fortunately for Anduin, the last mission is very well made, so that's the high bar every other mission must now be compared with.

  • Question - BoH packs and the new year

When will the Anduind-Skin be available?

  • Is the Sylvanas fight the best PvE content yet?

Yeah, I wonder if the draw of the legendary minions is scripted. I only played it once and got them neatly spread out, but I can imagine that if you get 2 or 3 early on it becomes a walk in the park.

Difficulty level is probably a tough nut to crack for the design team. With a very diverse audience to cater for, they're probably looking at a level that gives casuals a chance while not making it a complete pushover for better players.

    not bad buffs and nerfs

still are some cards i'd like to see changed but this is a step in the right direction

was hoping riven would become a 4/4 but maybe she will be a bit more playable now... hmm probably not :(

4/4 would be broken, they have already seen it with Badger Bear before.

It is probably the best mission so far in book of heroes, mostly because you get to place plenty of heroes against the opponent's heroes. Just a tad shame that yours never permanently die, so I wasn't really all that concerned over their lives. I never had any problems with Sylvanas since I've 4 heroes on board and plenty of firepower while she mostly have only removal and that weapon, which all things considered, is way too slow compared to your army.

It does help a great deal that none of the missions that we've experienced so far come even close to this one in terms of design, difficulty, and satisfaction. I'm still waiting to see if Thrall's mission can trump this one, since Thrall's significance in the lore is much greater than Anduin's.

  • New Paladin Weapon - Libram of Judgment

I've started playing a lot of Paladin and this card is just nuts. You don't even have to corrupt it for it to be good, since having a discounted 5/3 weapon is just really powerful. It's just a way better Arcanite Reaper, considering all the synergies it has with Libram discounts.

I just finished the Sylvanas fight (final boss in Anduin's chapter in the  Book of Heroes) and I was absolutely blown away by it. It felt like I was raiding in WoW again, progressing to various stages of the fight with each requiring different strategies. And because of the 1 mana draw 2, you actually seem to get the resources that you need to do that pretty reliably. Very good design. Lore-wise it felt very accurate too and the whole experience of your growing army of legendaries made it just feel like an epic fight.

What probably helped too was that I killed her with no card left in my deck and when her HP started to feel overwhelming - a bit similar to downing a WoW raid boss with everyone running out-of-mana and half the raid dead when you land this final hit.

So for me, yes, it was the best PvE content that I have played in HS. What are your experiences?

  • New Bilgewater Spell - Powder Pandemonium

After 3 Plunder activations this is a better Aftershock. The main issue I see is that there aren't that many great Plunder cards.

Oh my goodness, I appreciate so much that you did this. It makes me feel so much better about the situation. Also I was unaware of the fact that I had already been featured in another article which makes me feel pretty proud to hear that. Thanks for swiftly taking action and it definitely baffles me as well that something like this occurred but I'm glad it's been resolved. I also saw your name in my chat tonight which was nice to see! Again, thanks so much :) Love the site!

I got all the funky ones out of the way, and you're 100% right.  They are super grindy.  I've been trying to maximize Shadowjeweler Hanar to get more Shenanigans triggers, but man... it is really an uphill battle.

I tried to make Shenanigans happen with Mill Rogue in Wild, but of course the secret doesn't trigger on your turn. Not even when opponent's Rigged Faire Game triggers. Mad Scientist is a great tutor though. That achievement took some grindy hours.
