Well true, you get to keep snowflakes... But they didn't promise that rewards that you can buy with them will be available again, they might have something new instead next year...
It's like an adventure without the adventure for less price. I didn't like adventures at all, be forced to play it to get the cards, meh. So I like it!
Dont forget you can craft before rotate to wild this time. No avenge/risky skipper for for 80/200 dust worth of cards need 2800 gold cause cant craft them.
wasn't the miniset going to be legendary free?, i mean, i saved packs thinking that at best i would have epics. I opened 117 packs and got just 3 legendaries in the launch day, tthere is no way im getting the 4 here in 23 packs

anyone who has been saving up packs and is now instead going to buy the cards this way, saving the packs feels kind of dumb in retrospect. There's no loss of value, of course, but you could have had that value earlier...
Until this is all said officially I'd still hold onto those packs. Besides, there is nothing dumb about making a rational decision based on the knowledge available at the time.
This seems like a very reasonable approach to selling these minisets (costs less than a traditional adventure mini expansion like Galakrond's Awakening, and lacks solo content), and overall I'm very happy with it. But for anyone who has been saving up packs and is now instead going to buy the cards this way, saving the packs feels kind of dumb in retrospect. I'm not complaining, mind you, I'm just hoping that they get the kinks worked out on how they want the game's economy to work with all of these new features (the revamped rewards track, the standardization of a mini-expansion, etc.) so that this becomes predictable for future expansions.
This is exactly LIKE an adventure, you used to pay 2700 gold to get about the same number of cards but you'd get single player missions and have to earn all the cards by playing those missions.
This is just the same without the extra content, though the hall of heroes does have some single player missions trickling in.
I'm fine with it.
You can even just open normal packs from dark moon faire and not pay the 2000 gold to instantly get all the new cards. (though the chances at getting the 4 legends wont be high)
Yup, the packs should contain new cards, as this is considered part of DMF, not a separate set - at least, if you don't but the bundle. If you buy the bundle, you will already have all the cards and duplicate protection should protect you from getting any more until you have all cards from a given rarity. Then you may get more.
So if you have all the commons, rares, and epics from DMF already and don't buy the bundle, then yes: all the packs you open should contain new cards - that is, until you have all the new commons (which should be after a few packs already). Then you'll get duplicate commons again, but any rares and epics should still be new until you have collected them all too (rares should also happen rather quickly).
Still getting all the legendaries from the mini-set would probably require ~80 packs even if you already have all the regular legendaries from DMF. So if the leak is correct, it looks much more attractive to get the bundle.
They really need to relook into this 20 health bs at the start of duels, since it inherently gives face decks a near insurmountable advantage (unless you're warlock of course). Dhunters being able to chip damage on your face constantly throughout the battle simply by playing cards doesn't help, and if there needs to be any changes made at all, consider that being number 1 on that list.
Also, is it just me or are duels mode inherently taking much longer time to match me up with an equal player? Last time I tried (4 wins 0 loss) took me somewhere around 5 minutes to get a match. Pretty sure me playing at casuals isn't the issue here.
I have a bunch of DF unopened packs. I assume that if I open them after Jan 21st I will get the new cards ... all the common / rare and a couple of epic. Correct ?
I would even say the dust of 4 legendaries would be worth it. One free legendary in 20 packs is a bit worse than average, but you can choose which one to craft and you get additional dust from the other cards. So if the news is true, the dust alone is a very good deal.
It really depends if you really want them at all. Galakrond's awakening, if we take that as a measure, only had few playable cards today, and nearly all of them are rares. If you're short on cash, probably better to just get the better cards and ignore the rest. As for me, there's a few epics in the current set I really want, so if the mini set isn't worth it I'd rather have a better chance at getting what I want.
Not to mention that the end of month rewards will add some of the rares into your collection for free anyway.
Assuming the cards are playable (which is probably very likely), all the cards for $15 or 2000 gold is great. Unfortunately, such a system probably won't work for the normal expansion, since the pricing and value of the cards & packs will vary and create problems amongst players. Maybe they can instead sell specific sets of cards, like $10 for all the legendaries of the set (the price chosen was random, I just picked some number)?
Also, we haven't yet gotten a solo adventure this expansion. Are they being put on hold until Book of Heroes is finished or are we not getting one for DMF at all?
Sure, it'd be great, but would it be affordable? What would they charge? $100? $50? $20? We all know $80 currently doesn't get a whole set, but that's due to the randomness of card packs. If you were able to buy entire sets at once, would extra cards be strictly disenchanting fodder used for crafting Gold versions? (That sounds awesome.)
Point is, unless some core systems get overhauled, the most I could see them offering is a portion of a set as a one-time purchase. Maybe 50% of it. Alternatively, they could split a set and release fewer cards at first, then the rest of it in a mini-set like this one (with a guaranteed purchase.)
I think it's very important what they're gonna announce soon™ regarding the changes coming in April.

Book of Heroes packs.... Hold em?
It is important to point out this is NOT official info. Best to wait for confirmation from Blizzard before basing any decisions on this.
