I find it funny how most people look back on the genesis age of sonic and think its gameplay still holds up.
...
The sonic franchise remains alive today inspite of its games, from solid and very strong marketing, and the fact that its japanese overlords simply refuses to let the franchise die a natural death.
Honestly, even as someone who enjoyed Sonic 2 when I was a child, I'm inclined to agree. Sonic in general has missed *way* more than he has hit, but Sega stubbornly refuses to let him go away. It's actually really weird, when you think about it: how many other companies have a mascot who's very popular despite the fact that so many things related to him kinda suck?
In the livestream, they stressed that most seasonal mechanics would not carry over to Eternal/stick around because the game would "bloat" in game knowledge required, overall complexity, and of course power level. If something is worth keeping they'll of course consider it, and they reserve the right to change their minds on the subject, but for the most part, feature-creep will be hedged off from the start.
I'm glad Blizzard had the foresight for this feature (before Titans) coz I really felt the pain when wanting to view all the Movement spells related to Symphony of Sins. Hope that card has been catered for seeing as it has 7 spells/sins but the UI only shows a max of 6 related cards.
While I am a complete fan of 3rd party sites and know the amount of effort in adding all cards/tokens to a database, having to alt tab to view things that should be in game can be annoying.
Super keen for the season but do hope they consider keeping season features or not depending on build balancing. Wouldn't want to get to season 10 then every class has multiple broken builds and doing trillions of damage like in D3
Sonic the hedgehog is probably one of the prime examples of what marketing and franchising can do to build up an empire, irrespective of the result of the game (or games) of which he is based upon.
Let's be real here, the games (yes, even the good ones sonic 2 and 3) are pretty shitty. You can finish most of the levels (if not all of them) simply pressing the right button, jumping when required, and most of its enemies are completely optional, requiring almost no nonce to beat, nor offer any interesting mechanics.
I really feel the game is bogged down by the character's theme of running, making entire level designs feel more like a rube golberg machine rather than offering anything remotely interesting. Sonic isn't much a platforming game as much as it is a spectacle runner. Hence why whenever youre asked to actually play the game (like in Sonic 3d, or certain parts of sonic 2 & 3) the game falls flat.
To further illustrate my point. Playing as Tails completely invalidate entire levels. I seem to remember certain levels farcically allowing me to just fly past entire sections.
I find it funny how most people look back on the genesis age of sonic and think its gameplay still holds up. If anything, I think the game is nostalgia bait, inferior to many games Ive played as a kid on the megadrive. There are games that are great even today (like the streets of rage series), comically broken (batman forever will forever hold that throne), and then there are games that are stunningly beautiful but mechanically shallow (most disney platformers would fit in here). Sonic, however, to me is neither of those things. The sonic franchise remains alive today inspite of its games, from solid and very strong marketing, and the fact that its japanese overlords simply refuses to let the franchise die a natural death.
I grew up with sonic, love the old 90s cartoons, its ever expanding entourage of similar designed woodland creatures. But I always felt it a bit strange how so much obsession are placed in any of its games, most of which are crap.
The Primus is kinda a weird one. Its doing everything you want from DK, and yet he neither snowballs competently and can't be said to finish games on his own. Jack of all trades, master of none I guess.
All of his abilities play certain roles, there's none that standout. I guess the fairest assessment I can make is to say that he'll see play in every DK deck but wont really be the win con of that deck. You dont build around this card, the card simply gets in because it can.
Befitting his previous title as the pantheon's champion, sargeras here is pretty good, in fact he might actually turn out to be the best titan in this set.
Summoning two 3/2 imps every turn is pretty much going to kill any and all control decks by itself. Giving these imps +2 health and taunt ensures that your opponent cant beat you without massively outvaluing your deck (something that's unlikely against late game warlock) or have burn damage in hand.
In short summary, play sargeras, choose legion invasion! and the game might as well be over. Sargeras doesn't need to snowball, he wins outright with but one choice. On top of that all, he has 12 health.
The only downside is the fact that he's only ever good if you trigger that battlecry, meaning Dirty Rat can actually counter him.
All joking aside this meta eternal list about on the medium end of the sweaty scale is a great deck it got me to masters last season and play well into all the board spam stuff right now
Apologies for the late reply! I too have been having a good time in DF, more than I did in Legion (which I didn't think possible). It hits all the right spots, while Shadowlands somehow managed to bludgeon all the right spots. Although the game still is a long, long list of things to do, it no longer feels like it forces you to do all this... stuff. It's been designed to make you want to engage in all kinds of content.
The account-bound unlocks, story skips and such definitely play a big factor in this.
The blood ability alone is worth it. This card is going to be brutalized. I do think that the unholy card was cheap shot a little, but the other two are just gross.
I would like to think though that as good as the rune cards you're running would help that deck (blood for blood, etc...) but being able to grab a frost or unholy card when you're running 3 blood is almost always a welcome thing
I don't know what minion has nearly 20 Health without a bunch of buff spells played on it, and the days of Divine Spirit are gone. 3 Mana discount for a spell each turn seems nice though, and the other abilities look pretty good.

Ah, a card where positioning matters somewhat. Also reducing the cost of every minion in your hand by 2 is some pretty heavy mana cheating.

I don't care what that deck was because it was literally terrible
you could have won with 1 burried in ice
