They said the same or better *rewards* as before. If you're only counting gold, you're doing a foolish, facile calculation in bad faith just because you're angry about the change.

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

Guys...everyone needs to take a deep breath. There is almost no difference from before for a player that completes all his quests, plays about an hour a day and puts minimal effort into achievements. If anything we come out slightly ahead, despite all the howls of rage on Reddit from people that aren't great at math (God bless em). Allow me to explain:

Previous system: Completing a 60 gold quest every day, playing about an hour a day and earning 10 gold a day from wins on average gets you 70 gold per day. Over 120 days that's 8400 gold. That's the number we're comparing to.

    New System -

Daily Quests: Some people say we'll get 900 daily XP on average. I don't agree. There are ones that give 1500 XP and there are many more 1000 ones than 800 ones. I think 1000 is a better estimate. So that's 120,000 XP for all daily quests over the 120 days of an expansion.

Weekly quests: This is a set number: 102,000 XP for completing all over 17 weeks.

Achievements: No way most people are getting all the achievements but some will come without even trying and I think most people will look at them and try to get some XP from some. We're comparing this to not having to do anything before so whatever number goes here has to be from casual effort into it and even having a bit of fun with it. We can't be sure but I think it's reasonable to think you can get to 10,000 (out of the 27,300 XP available) before you start grinding.

Play time: Players are already experiencing XP gains that are under the the 400 XP/hour so maybe 350 XP/hour is closer to what we're getting. At an hour a day over 120 days that's 42,000 for play time over the expansion.

Add it all up: 120,000 + 102,000 + 10,000 + 42,000 gets you 274,000. That's 1000 XP from level 68. That's within a reasonable margin of error so let's just say playing about an hour a day, completing all quests, and putting mild effort into achievements you get to level 68 before the battle pass expires. That gets you 6900 gold. That's 4,200 from levels 1-50 and 2,700 from 51-68.

6900 gold is 1500 less than the 8400 gold we would have got before. So is what we're getting in the battle pass worth 15 packs? Let's look at it.

We get 16 card packs (7 Darkmoon), 2 tavern tickets (worth a pack each), 2 Darkmoon legendaries and 1 Darkmoon epic. Subtract the 6 free packs we're not getting from legendary quests, subtract the legendary we're not getting free when the expansion starts, count the tickets as packs, and we're left with 12 packs, 1 legendary and 1 epic. So we have 12 packs that are divided between different expansions and thus not getting us a good chance at legendaries BUT we get a free legendary. One legendary out of the 15 packs we would have had in the old system would have been great (and there's a chance to pull one from the 12 packs) so we're actually in better shape for legendaries. We're kind of even on epics (rolling from 12 packs instead of 15, mostly from old expansions...but then add the free one from Darkmoon). And what's left is: we're down 3 packs (unless you did well with those tickets). For that we get to choose a hero skin.

So that grinds down to a really small difference in my eyes. Please break down my logic if you can but the numbers don't lie. We end up in basically the same situation if not slightly better off.

  • What Free Legendary did you get?

The Mage Legendary which draws cards for Secrets. And Ringmaster's Baton

  • The 3 New Card Backs in Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Patch 19.0

precisely. They actually went full crazy in LoR. theres literally 0 reasons to spend money on that game unless for cosmetics. not to mention that when u actually pay money to buy cards u arent gambling on opening random packs

This is no highly complex social economic modell with different outcomes. We have the numbers. We did the math. There is no let's see how it progresses, since we allready know exactly how. And that's why everyone is upset. It's a car crash with advance notice.

HS is on a serious roll of shitting the bed every time theres some change to the game. how incompetent are the ppl there ?

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

Seeing how generous Runeterra is I thought that Blizzard will increase their rewards to not fall so behind in terms of accessibility for free to play players. They did the opposite. Like...wtf!

sadly... as someone you played once every 3 days to get his dailies done (in casual to have fun with weird decks) and never really played ranked (so no maths for "play 1hr of ranked every day" for me), i am gonna get around level 50-55.

level 50-55 means that i am gonna get from 4200 to 5000 golds, which is more than 3400 golds less from the 8400 golds i was used to. (overall it s AT LEAST 34 packs less at the beginning of the expansion. Across all the year that s a 102 less packs)

we can then debate about getting bunch of packs during the ranking up. From my personal experience, i was hoarding golds to open as many packs i could at the very beginning of the expansion with 0 delay...

the main disappointment about this is not even that my gold income got halved, it s that blizzard always tried to avoid answering question (and so gathering feedbacks) about this new system. They hide the amounts of gold and the lack of transparency is huge.

They said that "none will lose anything" but it s now kinda clear that if you want to get the same value of the last system, you need some serious commitment and play A LOT in ranked. Maybe we are gonna see changes about this system but the time it will be needed to get back to the old system value gonna be a lot if they couldnt even admit that we were getting far less gold than we used to.

P.s. the fastest solution would probably be the doubling of the gold amount from rank 1 to 50. in that way we are gonna get 8400 gold (up from 4200) like we used to. IMHO this solution would make what blizzard said in their post true. Cause, AT THAT POINT, "no one will lose gold, and everyone will get some extra packs and actually more gold if they play a lot".

The answer to this quest tilted me even more: "Will I have about the same 10,000 gold to spend though?"

Answer: "It's impossible for me to give you exact numbers without having a ton of exact details about your specific play patterns, but yes, that's the goal"

they gotta be seriously mocking us at this point. people that were usually get 8400 from their dailies will see their gold income cutted in half. (when all they needed to do was playing 1 hour every 3 days). The fact that they still think the current system "wont hurt anyone AND give people more gold and packs is a joke...

  • Quick question - reward track

    Thanks!

  • Quick question - reward track

Hey there, fellow citizen, the legendary and epic from the 1st and 5th lvl is from the new Darkmoon Expansion.

I´ve made a thread where people shared what they´ve opened, you can check it here: What Free Legendary did you get?

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

I'm surprised that every comment here is trying to show how bad the new system is.
I'm saying, let it progress for a while. It's just the first week. A lot of self calculations is good, but nonetheless a theory.

I totally can't see how many gold I will have in the end of the expansion because it's still new. If the reality sets in, and I got less gold than before, then I can prove it to them how bad the new system is.

But I guess not everyone can think the same as I do.

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

There is a slight decrease in gold for similar play, yes, but you're getting a lot cards that convert to dust. There is of course some debate about how to value dust relative to gold, however, even in the lowest valuations for dust, you're still being rewarded more.

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

Y'all are being histrionic. There are no accurate numbers saying it'll be worse.

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

It'll be ok bro. I have not seen any calculations that make the system worse. Not one. And I've been reading a lot.

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

I really enjoy playing this game, but this change is getting me mad, they lied the first time and now they are still lying. We are getting the math wrong? So many people are wrong, sure. We don't consider the events? Also for the old system... I'm really sad, they think we're stupid people who'll give them all the money they want... maybe I should uninstall it and try Runeterra

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

Lol at the World Tree burning mystery.

Technically, they weren't wrong about saying "Wait and see! Be surprised!". We were surprised at how lazy and predictable they were.

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

Please do some reading, crunch the numbers yourself, and then get back to me (us). I don't think you're correct, and there's a mountain of evidence showing that.

This is a top-tier card back. Gorgeous work.

N'Zoth is pretty good too, but Sideshow Glow is amazing.

  • Darkmoon Faire Fireside Gatherings & Pre-Release Event This Weekend - Opening Your Packs Early

I don't know anything for certain, unfortunately! Like dapperdog said, my first 10 regular packs could have been bugged. Because my first legendary didn't occur until pack 16. I just made the assumption of the golden packs being connected since I got a legendary while opening my golden packs first. But assumptions can lead to trouble ;)
