  • New Mage Minion - Occult Conjurer

    Strong, but boring.

    Better than interesting but weak.

  • New Mage Spell - Rigged Faire Game

I'll go ahead and say it -- Darkmoon Faire is kind of a dumb idea for an expansion theme. That's why we're getting so many cards that seem a bit ... forced.

But flavor aside, I like this Secret a lot in a vacuum, but less in a very aggressive meta. Too bad it doesn't look like they're doing anything to rein in the DH shirt-show.

I am sure it wasn't of the highest priority but secret mage was already annoying enough in wild without a 4 mana 8/8.

Right... and ETC survives on turn 9 how?

  • Grand Empress Shek'zara is a New Rogue Legendary Revealed for Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Expansion

Its a neat little draw engine with some unique properties. Essentially you're going to be drawing 2 cards with this one, but I feel like this is more support for decks that run either Togwaggle's Scheme or Shadow of Death kind of cards, since it discovers 3 cards from your entire deck and therefore odds are you're going to be offered something with more than 3 copies in your deck.

Maybe its just me, but at present I would rate Stowaway higher than this card. There either needs to be some really high impact 1 drop somewhere (that's not Mogu Cultist) or this card is simply too inconsistent in doing what you've probably planned for it to do.

  • New Mage Spell - Rigged Faire Game

    Quote From DoubleSummon

seems like mage's theme this expansion is "fair games"

Why does rigging the game draws you 3 cards if you weren't hit? my guess is cause they didn't even try it's rigged so the one running the game "wins" and draws 3 cards?

Again the 2 mage cards revealed this expansion so far (this and Ring Toss) have weird flavor why do they exactly do what they do when they have that name + art? team 5 normally makes sense for characters or spells doing what they do for a reason.. maybe it would make sense in an adventure setting, this card would make much more sense if you drew 3 cards if you were hit last turn.. cause then you scammed your opponent with your unfair game.

Anyway this card: it's not good by itself it offers you +1 draw over arcane intellect but it's not only delayed but also not guranteed to happen I think this card is very bad cause of that fact.. also vs aggro you will have hard time triggering this, while vs control you might not what the draw as much unless you are a combo deck and then it's only a card you want vs control/slow midrange decks.

    1 star.

Imagine one of those toy catch games, game owner rigs it and "win" your money for not hitting the toy, and it's some target game like that on the art (maybe he messes with your bow or something). Plus they wanted to stay in line with a Paladin secret that summons 3/6.

Have to agree that in general cards seem to be lacking in flavor this expansion. It feels like a rushed job imo, I regularly see more creative designs in OOC competitions.

I think the trouble is he was balanced around Preparation + Academic Espionage, which was completely needless since late game combos like that are never relevant in rogue meta decks. If he just cost 5 or 6 instead he could be so much easier to use with all the other shuffle cards. Then I could at least pull off my favourite backup combo of casting Shadow of Death on Tak himself, to make sure I had enough of him to do something more impactful with.

  • Tent Trasher is a New Warrior Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Expansion

There's just one problem, and that's this card interrupts tutoring that deathwing out and also competes for the dragon slot when you play out nzoth.

But that's not to say this card is bad. In most cases we're looking at getting this out at least 1 mana cheaper so a 4 mana 5/5 with rush is still above vanilla stats and it also comes with rush.

Since there's plenty of pirate tutoring in warrior, is there any reason to run this instead of the much superior Bloodboil Brute, which is easily cheapened by the tutored Risky Skipper, as compared with this card.

  • Grand Empress Shek'zara is a New Rogue Legendary Revealed for Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Expansion

The real shame is that I crafted Tak on day 1 assuming he'd be good... *sigh*

  • Grand Empress Shek'zara is a New Rogue Legendary Revealed for Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Expansion

Agreed. Having a board, hand and deck full of the adorable little hoppers is worth all the hours you put in to get there.

It's a shame that Pogo Rogue is the only deck I have been able to honestly say Tak Nozwhisker was good in. Most of the time I have to cut him even if he was the reason I made the deck to begin with. I'm quietly hoping there's another card this set that helps breathe life into the old kobold.

  • Occult Conjurer is a New Mage Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Expansion

That's quite some tempo development. I guess team5 is actively pushing for aggro secret mage to return to standard. This certainly means Kirin Tor Mage is back, and with the rigged faire card they wouldn't be low on cards as they have been in previous iterations in the post-aluneth years so this is perhaps the best chance yet for aggro mage.

Just fingers crossed we don't see more stuff like Explosive Runes be revealed down the line.

  • Rigged Faire Game is a New Mage Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Expansion

Its very powerful at first glance, but also extremely risky. For one thing, since mage has never been too hot on taunts, its not really easy to prevent damage coming from either minions or hero powers. Another problem is that your opponent can actively decide for you when the 3 cards are drawn, so in a sense your hand would need to constantly be waving around 6 to avoid overdrawing. There's just so many layers of decisions but there's no mistaking that this card is perhaps one of the most powerful draw engines for mage, and being a secret its doubly more mind games for the opponent to maneuver in game.

Will certainly see competitive play at some point. Why wouldn't it? Its a 3 mana draw 3. While shaman and hunter draws 1 card at a time and can barely generate cards, mage does both to an almost extreme degree. You'd think there's something going on here.

  • Grand Empress Shek'zara is a New Rogue Legendary Revealed for Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Expansion

    My Bad.

  • What do you think about the Monuments of power expansion?

Just play a deck with Divergent Paths and a Landmark or play Scorched Earth. Then you just cheaply destroy Star Springs. Noxus in general is pretty good because they have Culling Strike, Scorched Earth, and high-Power units that are hard for Tahm to eat. You can probably also look up a counter deck on Mobalytics.

  • Tent Trasher is a New Warrior Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Expansion

yanno with stuff like Fishy Flyer, Tent Thrasher and N'zoth you could probably make a deck list with ETC where N'zoth summons a board of rush minions and use them to deal 10 damage to the opponent and clear their board for 10 mana.

Would have to include minions like Gyrocopter and Fleethoof pearltusk but eh, just throwing that out there

  • New Neutral Minion - N'Zoth, God of the Deep

Well I stand corrected, seems like they did print support cards

  • Grand Empress Shek'zara is a New Rogue Legendary Revealed for Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Expansion

Well actually I guess it could be used as a Kronx Dragonhoof to draw a C'thun piece or C'thun itself

If this card had taunt I would like it.

Really good card. Even in pure Dragon decks it would be a 4-mana 5/5 with Rush most of the time, in menagerie it should be even better.

  • Grand Empress Shek'zara is a New Rogue Legendary Revealed for Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire Expansion

An allmost bulderfist ogre with an added draw 2.
Also Rogue is known for shuffling. Tage the ticket vendor. That’s a nice tutor to get all those 3/3s.

I know it’s not insane and lacks compared to Soulciologist but “no reason” is a little harsh

This is really good with N'Zoth, God of the Deep both to summon from N'Zoth himself (itself?) and to play from your hand after you play N'Zoth as it will cost 0. From N'Zoth, it's a consistent 5/5 Rusher. With just a single discount, it's a 4 mana 5/5 with Rush which is good. Worse case scenario, it's a 5 mana 5/5 Rush that also triggers your Dragons.

So this is definitely good in this Menagerie Warrior. The question is, will Menagerie Warrior be a good deck? If it is, then we will see plenty of this card. If it isn't though, then we won't.

There's lot of synergy here with cards like Togwaggle's Scheme, Shadow of Death, and Ticket Master in Standard, and several other shuffle cards in Wild. The problem though is that one of your Discover choices will need to be one of the cards that you're hoping to draw that you shuffled in. Waiting until you've drawn more cards is a double-edged sword as you could end up drawing what you wanted to draw here (although I suppose Polkelt could somewhat counter this). Stowaway seems like it would be better for most practical cases since it's guaranteed to draw something that you want to draw from this.

That said, it is a 6 mana 5/7 that lets you choose a card to draw, which by itself isn't too bad, so this strategy might be successful somewhere.

What a waste of a perfectly good tent!

  • New Mage Spell - Rigged Faire Game

    Quote From Demonxz95

This is a very weird Secret. Once you do figure out that it's Rigged Faire Game, some classes will be able to nullify this every turn with a Hero Power.

Until then though, this will probably be a good Secret for tripping up your opponent for at least a few turns. It not triggering can ironically be a good thing for cards like Cloud Prince or Occult Conjurer. I don't see this doing too much in terms of actually being in the deck, but it'll probably be pretty good when you get it through card generation.

Honestly, if the opponent spends a bunch of mana on Hero Powers just to prevent this from triggering, that means they'll be down on tempo. Unless they're DH, of course. In that case, the tempo loss is so minimal and they can synergise with the punch they did with their cards so well this card becomes very inconsequential.

Two 4/4s for 4 mana is obviously good. With Rigged Faire Game, you can actually now play this on curve or you draw 3 cards (and trip your opponent up) which seems like a good trade-off. I'm not sure how good it would be in Standard, but it's good in Wild where you always have Ice Block.

  • New Warrior Minion - Tent Trasher

Ah yes, a Tempo Warrior card. From what is revealed so far, I believe menagerie Warrior will be more tempo oriented rather than summoning a bunch of big guys with N'Zoth, God of the Deep. In fact, I believe N'Zoth, God of the Deep has enough value as a last ditch effort for more midrange-y tempo decks even when summoning a bunch of 3 to 5 drops.
