Hey Flux and team! There were a couple of other tweets between Dean Ayala and Ridiculus Hat talking about the new ranking, if you think is important info to be added to the post.
That Hallow's End Cardback, is it datamined or just a hope? If it's the first, will it be offered or available at the store for 5packs, pardon, 500gold?
Joe Abercrombie - basically anything from him. He wrote a First law dark fantasy trilogy with some solitary books from the same world (The Heroes and Red Country being my favourites). Red Country is fantasy western, where a big scarred old man named Lamb needs to save a kidnapped girl.. and you can guess, that before he become Lamb he was not the peaceful type. The Heroes is a book about one battle with very interesting twist. Each chapter have one main character, who is killed in the battle and the next chapter continues the story with his killer... who is killed by the end of chapter... and so on. Bloody but very well written book.
And I love his Half a ... trilogy (Half a king, Half a world, Half a war), very dark and realistic viking.. postapo?
FINALLY, a REAL event! I'm excited! I'm wondering what they will do this year, and i'm hyped for the announcement video! It's always fun to hear the headless horseman explain the event/rewards in rhymes! Also i guess i gotta start an arena run for some free resources! :)
Also i wouldn't mind them bringing back some old cards again, as long as the duration is only a few weeks, AND they actually bring good, fun and balanced cards back! I would like seeing cards like Zilliax (Unity. Precision. Perfection.), Yogg-Saron, Hope's End (The nerfed version, because standard can't handle his full power.), Hagatha the Witch (Might help shaman in value wars + fits a bit with hallows end theme), Lynessa Sunsorrow (Okay this MIGHT be too much/strong, but would be fun), The Last Kaleidosaur (Fun, and it would fit in libram paladin.. maybe instead of Lynessa Sunsorrow now that i think about it..) or The Boomship (Nice for big warrior). These are just guesses, but i would like to see these in standard play again for like a month at most :)
Last time this weent horribly because it wasn't balanced, and there were no tweaks/balance changes. Also the selected cards were way too strong overall. (Except poor warlock, which pretty much got only Renounce Darkness) As long as they would balance it, if they were to do this again, it would be fine. Also i'm pretty sure they made standard unplayable so people would play battlegrounds instead, which released around then.... WAIT A SECOND.. making standard unplayable so people play a newly released gamemode.... were still getting a new gamemode... oh no..
So... an urban Jaffa might be a mayor? That would be Mayor Noggenfogger, but Dermostatic said those two refer to the second word in the card's name. I think we need another hint.
Before you start swinging your wallet around (oops, too late!), you should probably know that I haven't been free to play since Whispers of the Old Gods. So so much for you being the "actual customer" in this conversation. Unlike you I just happen to be looking out for other people, not just the ones who play the way I do.
Secondly, um...yes, the game does actually, quite literally, owe people free shit. It's called a free to play game for a reason. Free to play games exist on the foundation that with enough time investment, people can play them for free. That's like the basis of their marketing strategy, that's how they get people involved. It's free so why not try it. In order for this system to function the game has to hand out free shit to its players or it ceases to be f2p, and that goes especially for games that have a collectible aspect to them. If you're playing something like World of Tanks you don't have to constantly keep expanding your collection to stay in the game, you can play the tanks you have and nobody is going to take them away, they won't rotate or become completely irrelevant in power....well, ok you could argue the last part. In collectible card games, you HAVE to have the ability to collect more and more packs for "free" (it ain't even remotely free, it costs you a ton of time).
When a company establishes a certain expectation of exactly how frequently and in what amounts these "free" unlocks get delivered, it is then only logical that customers, yes, even the "free" customers, voice their disappointment when those free handouts get scaled back. Because this is an expectation that the company itself established for its players, this is the in-game pattern which the f2p aspect is built on, and when that goes, so goes every right the game has to call itself f2p and implement f2p business models.
I don't know where you're from but let me conclude my point this way. Many countries offer free education, from primary all the way to university. "Free shit" if you will. Would you honestly, for real, expect people to just shrug their shoulders and move on if that were to be taken away? Sure, there are countries that monetise their education system. But those that don't have established an expectation for "free shit". And that expectation cannot be violated without backlash.
Sincerely,
Someone who actually thought about the issue for more than 2 seconds
There are other ways to nullify it. For example The Amazing Reno, Plague of Murlocs and Devolve But with the last two the opponent then needs to get rid of them.
I understand your opinions and it's always better conversation when another user explains his chooses. I'll definitely give another chance to your decklist also.
And feel free to criticize my changes, that's fine for me and it makes a good conversation. I got all that I wanted with that post and that was your opinion about changes.
Btw! You should add some gameplay videos also, it would give a lot for this community to see how to use all the cards in different situations. Maybe it could be versus few most common wild ladder decks.
And again thanks for the awesome full guide! Really appreciate your work for that.

The post says this is to "make way for a new rating system". There will probably be a ranking system akin to constructed, and possible rewards for earning a certain rank. Maybe BG seasons could also have similar ranked rewards that constructed does, incentivising players to play both to maximise rewards. In theory, after people are done with their constructed climb, they'd shift over to BG to climb that ladder instead. It's a clever way of keeping people playing the game for longer periods at a time.
If I recall correctly, this change is purely visual and your actual MMR stays the same. Just like how in Constructed after the ranks reset, you're not playing against Bronze 10 players, you're playing against people that ended the season close to where you did as well, the same applies here.

Thanks a lot! I've added the Ender's Shadow and the First Law series to my wish list for the time being. So much to read, so little time.
I cannot stress enough how great hpmor is - just try the first chapter, it's free and only two clicks away ;-)
Legendary Reno DK Mage
Still thinking that I do something wrong with your decklist after 15 games I have 28 wr%. Only winning vs mages.
EDIT: 10 games more and wr% is 45

Well, now we know where all of those people went when they left Blizzard recently.
However, game design takes a LONG time, so don't expect any real announcements of actual projects anytime soon.

Agreed. If it's just visual, there's no point to resetting. It'd be far more fun if they would allow players to truly fall back to 0 again.

Agreed. A week or two would've been the ideal. Bringing back wild cards was a novel idea, just not the length they were brought back.
YES Shaman!
it was super fun to play. i had to admit that I do cheat a bit by replacing Devolve with Potion Vendor cause I don't have that card.
regardless, really awsome deck, thanks!
