Ok, got it, thanks. Still seems negligible. I played against this earlier today, and my opponent never took fatigue. Every turn they shuffled something into the deck.
Well, the nerfs were handy and necessary but questions gonna be asked as to why we allowed it to come to this in the first place.
Let's address the elephant in the room; the real issue with hearthstone nowadays is not one or two decks, its the design in general. Lowering powerlevels - fine, but doing so you need to ensure the balance is right because lower power levels means most cards are specifically designed to not do big things. As we have seen in emerald dream and cataclysm, as long as the meta feels fresh everything is fine. Moment we start seeing the same decks over and over, this commitment to a lower power level becomes an active disadvantage.
I cannot stress enough how boring hearthstone has felt since perils in paradise, and how the theme and cards havent excited me since whizbang. And now I can see that the miniset been gutted similarly as well, with synergistic cards which you can tell from face value wouldnt work because its too gimmicky, without being good enough to make those gimmicks work. Plus, how many times now must we see the same synergistic designs; do X, and your legendary does X + 1. And for some reason this is the second miniset in a row this has happened.
Well, at least hearthstone is raking it in. Minisets costing more despite having less, the darkmoon faire slot machine which ironically is about as carny as it gets, and the endless side quests that demand for more grinding. I legit have decks permanently in my slots just to counter the same quest designs of play 500 cards or draw 500 cards.
I'm still playing this game. But any moment that cuts me off; be it a long wedding with no internet reception, or more likely, blizz servers crashing out for a week, I may actually drop the game and never come back. Here's hoping that team5 gets a rude awakening and finally straightens out the designs so playing hearthstone becomes less a chore.
When she nukes your deck, you still draw one card per turn and thus take fatigue damage. This buff effectively allows you one extra turn of fatigue which does matter since most games dont go past 9 turns.
Ive seen all the leaked cards of the miniset, but again its not looking good. Team5's design team have been moving away from the tried and tested design strat ever since last year so its not unexpected but it doesnt exactly make me wanna spend resources on this.
I suppose its a good thing nowadays. Been trying to hold back on expenditure for a while now.
So my own take of the minisets
......Betting that only Godfather Kazakus sees actual competitive play. Its the only card that is playable outside of specific synergies.
.....Crowley and Van Geist are just from the same mould as companion hunter and leyline mage. If even one card from that set doesnt work its probably not good enough competitively. And Im certainly getting that vibe with these set of cards. Cannon warrior is not merely too slow, you can legit be destroyed by tempo decks if you miss out your curve. As for priest, the only thing that has me interested is that Van Geist can bring back Sol'etos. Other than that, its again, too slow to actually do anything useful. Your opponent either ignores or just fuck you over as you maneuver your supertanker to get anywhere.
.....Stealth rogue is interesting because its uninteractable and two-bit rogue basically just got nerfed to oblivion. But its a bit like SI7 rogue back in stormwind. Its good but no one wants to play it because its insipit. And you can bet the moment this deck is good it'll be nerfed to the ground because its not interactive.
I prob end up just getting the commons off packs and crafting kazakus. The rest are simply not interesting enough, but thats basically the theme with hearthstone ever since this new design strat came along. Lowering the powerlevel of the overall game only worked for like two out of the last 7 expansions, and most other cases is just decks that are either not interesting or just not good
I think I remember something like that. I don't know if both DK sets were originally in the third expansion of the year, but if they are both releasing at the same time, then how is that not just a bigger DK set?
They mentioned earlier this year that Death Knight is getting two class sets this year instead of one, although it is a bit weird that they didn't spread them out to release one now and one later.
My hope is that the second set of the year is for them to work around the Rune system. My belief is that it'll amount to absolutely nothing in that regard.
That's a great question! Could just be a mistake and they meant 3 class sets. I can't imagine them giving any class an extra set, so maybe a new class?
Not at exact date but that date is going to be announced in November at ExileCon. As far as I'm aware the 2026 launch has not changed so Nov/Dev is the estimated arrival.
However, I did login to POE2 this weekend and got some more maps in to say goodbye to my build. I've effectively finished everything I need to at this point for the league and now we're just waiting for the 1.0 release.
Does Path of Exile 2's 1.0 release have an ETA/date? I bought into the early access and enjoyed the game, but I decided to hold off continuing until the 1.0 to experience it in full.
Still playing DragonSword: Awakening in stops and starts - it's an MMO for singleplayers, practically, so it often feels like there's too much to do and I become drained. I've added in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix from the Steam collection: my plan is to skip KH1 (I don't like it anymore), finish KH2, replay Birth By Sleep, then finally progress in the series with Dream Drop Distance, Aqua's side story, and finish with Kingdom Hearts III. I've never completed the series before, but it feels daunting to replay the whole thing to get on the same page for the last game (at least until KH4 comes out next year).
Beyond that, I've been playing multiplayer games again, with some fellow trans friends. Borderlands 3, Seamless Elden Ring mod, Monster Hunter: Wilds; I even reinstalled Marvel Rivals. Maybe I can overcome the negativity I now feel for competitive games, with someone by my side to play with.
I haven't been playing much this month so far with work on the site, work on Clickbait Tycoon finishing up for the Early Access launch this week, and just misc life stuff. However, I did login to POE2 this weekend and got some more maps in to say goodbye to my build. I've effectively finished everything I need to at this point for the league and now we're just waiting for the 1.0 release.
I did also bust out Half-Life 2 of all things for a few hours. Just to explore that mid-2000s game design while getting a little nostalgia for things. It's so funny how low quality all the textures and poly counts are but the gameplay still feels pretty good and everything is so cohesive that it vibes anyway.
Hard agree. Sony was so slow to get into the really fun controller design game but they are absolutely killing it. PS3 did alright with them, PS4 was honestly a bit embarrassing because most of the controllers were just logos slapped into the center instead of any really cool designs. PS5 though, well Sony finally got out of their shell (literally) allows us to swap face plates and just dropping so many cool controllers.
The Genshin Impact one, despite not playing it, I thought was really cool.
Now Sony just has to chase the XBOX Design Lab because that's one of the best part about XBOX controllers, being able to order a completely custom one with so many different colors available. Also, give us a damn way to access the battery more easily so it can be changed out when it eventually completely dies. Europe, save us.
How is everyone's experience with Reelfest coming along? I've been sure not to miss a single day of the daily challenges, and I've currently caught 26/30 fish. At night, I've been honing in on getting that Legendary one. Eventually, I'm going to get it!
It's called Connie and the Essence of Chaos. It's basically a Rayman 1 clone. As in like, the developer of the game is a Rayman fan game creator (and created Rayman Redemption, which is basically Rayman 1+), and the game makes absolutely zero attempt to disguise itself as a Rayman clone.

4 more sets during the third expansion? New class this year, or is one class getting two sets?
