  • Trueaim Crescent is a New Demon Hunter & Hunter Weapon Revealed for Hearthstone's Scholomance Academy Expansion

Wow. Just... wow. This weapon could do some beautiful things...

I think this might be my fav expansion ever. The creativity in some of these cards is absolutely incredible

  • New Neutral Minion - Educated Elekk

What's interesting is, enemy spells count too. I don't have high hopes for this, but it definitely looks fun.

  • New Druid Minion - Forest Warden Omu

I honestly think this won't have an impact in wild, maybe if OTK druid was good this would push it too far, but it's not good. As for standard, this is THE card that will make OTK druid a thing, but no matter how "broken" it may seem, it can only really be good if the meta isn't aggro which I doubt will happen.

  • Ancient Void Hound is a New Demon Hunter Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Scholomance Academy Expansion

Glad to see DH get something else besides brainless aggro, but kinda wish it was more viable. Granted, DH does have that beefed up Voidcaller-style thing at 6 mana, question is whether there are enough sizeable demons to make that atrocity worth playing.

  • New Paladin & Warrior Minion - Lord Barov

Feels useless in paladin as a combo boardclear, but I suppose it's fine if you are willing to trade in your minions. Obviously much, MUCH better in warrior and that's where it will see play.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Ancient Void Hound

Huge minion that keeps growing, but only that - a big minion easily hard-removed. Will be interesting to see this in action.

  • New Druid & Hunter Spell - Guardian Animals

Just in terms of value, Guardian Animals costs 7 mana and gets two 5-drops with rush (because I'm assuming your deck will be built to maximize this card). So, taken that way it's pretty good. The problem, of course, is that there really aren't a ton of great Beasts to put in your deck at that mana cost (and the ones that cost less are even worse for this effect). But we haven't seen the whole set, yet, and there are already some obvious ways to mitigate that problem.

Druid has it easiest with Survival of the Fittest and Embiggen, which will make every card you get from this is great. Embiggen Druid already ran Strength in Numbers to cheat one minion by paying for one or two minions, so this seems like an obvious archetype to take advantage of this effect. (Downside - the mana changing effect of Embiggen could make this card complicated.)

The case is a lot harder for Hunter, where Shan'do Wildclaw is the only thing shoring up the cards you hit with this, but Hunter also has much better cards to pull with this even with only a minor buff (e.g. Augmented Porcupine and Zixor, Apex Predator - maybe even Scavenging Hyena if you have a board you're going to trade away on the same turn), and Hunter typically lacks card draw, so this kind of deck thinning could be desirable.

I would prefer Dinotamer Brann for going face rather than hoping that this card pulls Tundra Rhino + Stranglethorn Tiger for 7 mana.

  • New Mage & Rogue Spell - Brain Freeze

    Pro

Yeah, this looks like a nice little fit for both classes. Lots of flexibility at 1-mana.

  • New Druid & Hunter Spell - Guardian Animals

Such a powerful effect, but so hard to use with the current minion pool (in standard).

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Ancient Void Hound

    Pro

It's very expensive, yes, but its stats are off the chart for 9-mana. Even on an empty board, 10/10 for 9 is good. With a single enemy minion in play, it becomes an 11/11 (and reduces that enemy minion). Against a full board it becomes 17/17. I'm very interested to see if Big Demons works.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Ancient Void Hound

I've tried a bit of Big Demon Hunter, and I was generally disappointed with how easy it was to run out of good demons in your deck for Pit Commander (or worse, draw into all of them). So, I think it's great they're adding more for that archetype. Still, while it's possible Raging Felscreamer, Fel Summoner, and Pit Commander are a good enough "cheat" package that this becomes playable, but at 9 mana that's still a bit tough. It's definitely powerful enough that I'll be happy to see it coming off of Netherwalker, though.

  • Scholomance Golden Packs

Opening the golden packs last would ensure you get your duplicate rares in golden. But I don't know if this is important. I didn't took a decision for myself yet.

  • Scholomance Golden Packs

I'm opening them first, but I don't think it makes much difference because apparently they don't have pity timers. I'm only doing it first because I always craft the rogue legendaries golden before I open packs to avoid opening non-golden copies, and there's a tiny chance I could save the dust if I get one of them in the golden packs first.

I suppose if you are most of the way through the commons and you still haven't opened any of a specific card you want golden then you could improve your odds that way, but since you don't know which order you'll find cards in this is not useful at a statistical level: if you happened to find them first you would have missed the opportunity, so it all averages out.

  • Scholomance Golden Packs

Hello guys, for the people who ordered the 85 pack bundle, how do you plan on opening the golden packs, first or last?

As for myself, I'll have around 150 total packs when the expansion hits (meaning around 145 normal packs) and I'm considering opening the golden packs first, since if I were to open then last, I fear I would have most of the cards already, resulting in poor luck.

What are your thoughts about this?

  • Ancient Void Hound is a New Demon Hunter Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Scholomance Academy Expansion

shame.. warlock would have loved this card. As for standard this card has no chance, I think... though what do I know, I play mostly wild and this will suck there

  • Killing Karma

I throw Hec as a pusher he attacks with 9 damage between him and his spawns and when he gets rekindled or rezed for 3 spell mana he can be oppressive I also have 2 nethergades that can make him pump 11 damage on turn 6 which has won me games against deep and karma.

I don’t read guides or follow tier lists or copy the best prebuilt decks I consider myself very casual. A major part of the fun for me is if I can think of effective deck my own mind. I was just wondering if others are finding karma as troublesome as I am. It is interesting to see other people’s take on it and I am picking up some suggestions.

For record not knocking guides or tier list it just isn’t the way I choose to play because the most important thing to me at this stage in my life is “ am I having fun while playing”. Getting nuked by karma / ez combo in one turn is no fun

  • New Druid & Hunter Spell - Guardian Animals

We have to wait out for all the cards to be revealed before calling this shit. But I'm somewhat reminded of Stampeding Roar, a much better card which also did not see any play. And that was a time where big beast were literally everywhere.

  • New Druid & Hunter Spell - Guardian Animals

No-Tribe 1 and 2 mana minions, and some good beast? But we didn't get any yet. But together with [Hearthstone Card (Shando Wildclaw) Not Found] this can win you the board back.

  • New Druid Minion - Forest Warden Omu

In standard this looks decent.. it's basicly a free 5/4. (+4 mana -cost of whatever spell you casted)

In wild: NOOOOOOOO. Kun the Forgotten King and Twig of the World Tree have similar effects, and have always seen play in OTK druid. This deck will also run this so they can do the combo more reliably.

  • Guardian Animals is a New Hunter & Druid Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Scholomance Academy Expansion

Okay, so this one's a interesting card in theory, but unless we see some massive 5 drop beast, there's little to no reason why anyone would want to play this card. At its very best it pulls out Tundra Rhino and Stranglethorn Tiger but little else.

It costs too much, which leads me to believe that team5 is holding out on something really big that is also a beast and cost 5 mana somewhere. Otherwise, all I can think off is getting Bad Luck Albatross to screw opponent decks and sometimes clear the board.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Ancient Void Hound

Yes, its a big boy, and yes it does quite a lot of stuff. But ultimately, its still a 9 cost card that doesn't really do much when it enters.

I like the card. But unless something is done about Thoughtsteal all I can think of is facing down this and losing because of an rng effect. I'd rather discover this than put it in my deck.

  • New Druid & Hunter Spell - Guardian Animals

So here we have a OTK Hunter enabler. Helps you get out Tundra Rhino for charge. Also strong in some kind of big spell Hunter.

Kael'thas Sunstrider + cheap spells to cheat out Guardian Animals, which summons Tundra Rhino. I don't know what the next step would be, but it can be quit strong. (In wild maybe the "summon all 3 animal companions" card)

  • New Paladin Minion - Argent Braggart

Really nice if you are fighting for board control and you're about to trade a big minion. For 2 mana, you get a replacement big guy.

  • Ancient Void Hound is a New Demon Hunter Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Scholomance Academy Expansion

Very strong card...for arena that is

In constructed, if you ever get to the point where you can get this out and not die, chances are you're facing a deck that can deal with this monstrosity. It feels like a discover card, not something that you'd happily put into your deck, just like Gruul, which despite its potential just never saw the light of day.

Another strike against this card is that ironically dhunters cant deal with it themselves, so if it gets stolen by priest or by Keymaster Alabaster, then you'd might as well just concede on the spot.
