I feel like everyone is hating on Imprisoned Antoen or Priestess of Fury because they are powerhouse cards, but honestly not many decks run them naturally right now. And as someone who likes the DH class it's gotten neutered to the point of almost obsolescence. The only deck viable in high ranks it seems is tempo (aka aggro) and maybe the OTK variant with Kael.
Honestly Imprisoned Antoen isn't even a problem BEFORE the nerfs. If by the time turn 8 rolls around and you can't figure out a way to soak 10 damage that's split, that's on YOU (the opposing player) not the card. I mean it's actually BETTER for players as a dormant minion because it can be played around somewhat. They could just change it's cost from 6-8, and make it a battlecry, and then players would have zero chance to counter it.
I'd like to see more viable decks other than aggro DH, and honestly I hope the class doesn't get nerfed.
All in all I just find it amusing because if this was Hunter, noone would be complaining but hunter throws out just as much early damage as DH yet flies under the radar all the time.
- a casual look into hsreplay will show Priestess of Fury as one of the highest win rate cards for tempo dhunter. Let's not debate why. It should be pretty obvious.
- For pre-nerf Imprisoned Antaen. Its not the soaking thats the problem. You either take the damage to the face, or risk having your board removed. Then Priestess of Fury just finishes whatever's left, which includes you. And assuming you're still alive, you're facing down a 10/6 and a 6/7, while having no minions on your side, and this is turn 7. Is this a problem? Yes, yes it is.
- Last point. I remember lots of complains against how one sided face hunter is in DoD. I myself hate that deck, because I see it as limiting other classes and making res priest a popular choice. That is still true by the way as it was when galakrond shaman was tops. No class should get any free passes, not even for Illidan.
- And no, you're wrong in saying that hunter throws out as much early damage. I dont think this is important but for argument sake; At its most, (assuming no clears) Blazing Battlemage turn 1 + turn 2 Phase Stalker + turn 3 Stormhammer = 9 damage by turn 3.
Ya know. I recently spent some time on "the other site" because of isolation boredom, and posts like this can get such crazy toxic hate. forgot how bad it can be over there. Out of cards seems like such a nicer community.
The way i see it, Albatross is a card where if you’re fighting an opponent with one and you don’t have one, you’re at a direct disadvantage. This wasn’t true of a lot of great cards in the past (even ones like Zilliax or Siamat that were used really widely). The nerf needs to happen, not because the card is powerful on its own, but because it forces this kind of arms race.
If it were reduced to a 3/2, it’d be a weak play but still okay for a tech card, instead of a solid 4/3 statline that also makes your opponent give up on two topdecks, which is at autoinclude territory.
Just my opinion. But the effect would be fine if the body were understatted

Kinda funny. Like, who would've thought that one Day Sacrificial Pact would become a problematic Card? But honestly, I think changing it is probably is for the better. They want to give DH an Archetype that relies on big Demons, and current Sac Pact just utterly destroys that.
Speaking of big DH Demons: I hope they change Imprisoned Antaen/Priestess of Fury. These Cards are just too OP imo. „Oh, you didn't flood the Board with Minions to be massacred? Well, sucks for you, I guess. Here's a huge Amount of Burst and some big Minions. Good Luck!"
I get the reason why all those cards is getting nerfs, except Bad Luck Albatross.
Why? It's the only tech cards against Highlander Deck (except Bombs and it's only for Warrior). I just don't get it. It's already a perfect card without the nerfs.
NPR is, indeed, an excellent source of information. As I would expect from a reputable source like NPR, they get the information correct. Mr. Kennedy, however, twisted it quite dramatically.
As that NPR article states, vaccines do NOT cause Polio. They prevent it. However, when the live version of the vaccine is used, some of the virus gets out into the environment through excrement (when the kids poop). After that, the viruses sometimes "regained their ability to paralyze unvaccinated children." Leftover viruses from the vaccination process can infect people who have NOT been vaccinated. The vaccine itself does NOT cause the cases of Polio mentioned in the article. And by the way, there were a whopping 27 total cases of Polio reported anywhere in the world as of the writing of that article in that year (2017). Why such a small number of cases? I think by now the answer to that is crystal clear ...
Yet again, the argument that people SHOULD get vaccinated is reinforced, as the vaccine protects against all forms of Polio if you've been vaccinated (even vaccine-mutated forms).
Thank God they're finally nerfing this Quest-Mage BS! This Stuff is so unfun and non-interactable, you can practically concede t1 when you're a slower Deck and see your Opponent play this fucking Card.
I hope they change the Way the Reward interacts with Archmage Vargoth. That's imo the biggest Problem with this Deck. Increasing the required Number of Spells you have to play to complete the Quest wouldn't be enough, unless you at least double the Amount. Mages can shit out random Spells like it's nothing! (Mana Cyclone alone often enough completes the Quest).
The Change to Bloodbloom to address Darkest Hour Warlock is also great. But, what I read was „We're gonna nerf Mecha'thun".
Sacrificial Pact was never meant to be able to used as removal. Destroying friendly Demons was basically what the card was meant for, as back then, Warlock was the only class with any Demons. Now that Demon Hunter has Demons, Sacrificial Pact is basically just a tech card against them.
I definitely would change it to only affect friendly Demons. That's basically how the card was intended to be the whole time, and you wouldn't be able to kill Jaraxxus with it anymore.
tbh, big priest isn't that strong in wild ever since the barnes nerf. raza priest is much more powerful that big priest as of now.
Raza is doing VERY well and is very powerful. unsure if Barnes nerf actually makes big priest much worse. Some cut him from the deck even before the nerf and did very well with the deck. I think the deck might still be just fine but people ran away from it after the nerf.
I get where you're coming from, but 0 mana for a swingy tech card is too much of a good thing. Even back in the day when we used BGH to take down something big you still had to spend 3 mana for it.
0 mana Pact is not just "Kill a demon", but essentially "Kill a demon and then get to play your own 5/6/7 mana worth of cards for instantaneous tempo reversal."
Do kill the Lord Jaraxxus interaction with Sacrificial Pact but other than that I'd want it to stay as is. The only reason it is so important in the meta is because of Demon Hunter's dominance. If that falls off, so will Sac Pac. It's a tech card after all.
WHy my Mecha'thun deck getting hit too... you know replacing Bloodbloom by couple of Galvanizers will reduce consistency a lot
This is also what I'm most sad about... Mecha'Thun Lock is a very honest and balanced deck, AND fun to play
Darkest Hour Lock is neither, so why not change Darkest Hour??
Balanced and honest? Seriously? Draw, draw, heal, draw more, destroy with eggs and plague of flames and hope my opponent doesn't have dirty rat and if he does, that he doesn't hit mechathun? I hate that deck so much
Hating the deck is fine. I hate all decks that beat me honestly lol but Mecha'Thun Lock is pretty beatable. What you're defining is a generic control/combo hybrid, all of them work similarly and have their weaknesses
Why would you run double Galvanizer, and Mecha'Thun, and Cataclysm, and Emperor (5 cards to reduce 4 mana & execute the combo) when you can accomplish the same thing without the Galvanizers for one card less in the combo?
I’m assuming the safe bet is 3 mana. The effect is insane, and the workaround cataclysm seems out of character for blizzard, since they rarely encourage combo. Darkest hour will die, and very few people will miss it, including me, since whenever I played it I drew combo before I died maybe 1/5 times. Just a generally bad feeling deck for everyon
tbh, big priest isn't that strong in wild ever since the barnes nerf. raza priest is much more powerful that big priest as of now.
I'd disagree with the part that Big Priest isn't that strong in wild.
Yes Barnes was nerfed, but the moment Vargoth was released he pushed he was into the slot as the most powerful minion in the deck.
Barnes was an early highroll card, that's it. The usefulness of the minion in the deck actually made the deck worse as the turns rolled on since a top deck Barnes at turns 8+ was not impactful at that point. Plus, he naturally diluted the rez pool.
Vargoth on the other hand, is a good draw at almost any point in the game versus the priest. Get him on turn 4 versus a deck with no transforms? Insta play and enjoy the problem the opponent is placed as they determine whether they want to kill him and get him rezzed back with two copies, or don't kill him and let Shadow Essence and other spells snowball you to death. Then in the late game Vargoth completely carries the deck when the spellstone highrolls into instantaneous 7 minion boards.
I’d imagine darkest hour will die since bloodbloom is the entire reason it can pull off the combo so quickly. Even a nerf to 3 mana probably makes the deck borderline unplayable. That being said, the deck was extremely toxic and just a glass cannon with practically no interaction even possible for your opponent to respond to it, which is not the case with quest mage, even if both are very strong
quest mage I think will probably be fine, but Reno quest is certainly dead thanks to a likely increase in requirements.
While secret mage can be tilting, I’d argue that secret mage is probably the power level they are looking to reach in wild for the format in general. The deck is synergistic, lean, but not impossible to beat or completely noninteractive. We will see if they manage to print cards that let secret mage reach that level or not, but I thank at a game design level secret mage is in an ideal spot balance wise. Now it’s up to them to fill in other wild synergies

Turn 1 Battlefiend + turn 2 Umberwing + turn 3 Aldrachi Warblades = 14 damage by turn 3. And dhunter can absolutely do more with Twin Slice and Frenzied Felwing turn 1 and 2. In fact, leaving Battlefiend alive for more than 1 turn is generally considered to be a losing play.
Forgive me brothers...

Not true. You could be a real baller and Sac Pact yourself. Don't give the enemy the satisfaction of the kill, go out like a gangsta Eredar lord.

You actually only need to replace Bloodbloom with Drakkari Enchanter and look for Mecha'thun and Cataclysm to reduce instead of Bloodbloom.
8 mana Mecha'Thun
2 mana Cataclysm
No need for Galvanizers
