  • SOLVED Card pack duplicate protection not working?

    Quote From Arcsun

    Hey all,

So I disenchanted the nerfed cards Imprisoned Antaen and Skull of Gul'dan like all good people do..... You would assume that with the new duplicate protection rule that the next rares I opened (I have the rest from the set) would be those cards, right?

Except it wasn't - I got some random rares that I already have. Is this a bug, or have I misunderstood something? And has anyone else noticed this?

    Cheers

No, this is working exactly as intended. The new rules apply not to whether or not you have a duplicate copy but whether you have opened  that card before. (They made clear in the announcement that the duplicate counting system logs every time the card enters your possession; even if you dust the card, it's still marked as once owned by you.) This is intended to keep people from exploting exactly the dynamic you're describing. Otherwise you could create an endless loop of "dust nerfed card," "open nerfed card," "dust nerfed card," "open nerfed card," and on and on.

Lol, thanks for sharing it. Nice to learn even more about the world we are playing in, since I don't follow WoW anymore.

Can't get enough of those Lore articles, am I right?!

This should be mandatory.  The level of infection with Covid-19 is too much of a gamble for people to be in that close of proximity.

It sucks as this is the one time of the year that Blizzard enthusiasts get to revel in what is coming in the next year, but realistically, it is a bad move to potentially endanger so many people.

  • New Druid Minion - Ysiel Windsinger

    Quote From Cocoduf

Anyone else thinks Ysiel should read "Your spells cannot cost more than (1)" ?

Because as it is it looks very difficult to get value out of it.

I think it is fine as it is; it just had the misfortune of being in the same set as Kael'thas Sunstrider, which is easier to use in a class that has lots of expensive and super cheap spells. I guess Ysiel doesn't require cheap spells in your deck so it has a place in different decks that way, but I admit I have struggled to find a place for her.

As it stands, she's a lot like Aviana was back in TGT before MSoG gave us Kun: she's fine as long as you get 1 big spell with her as she's basically a cheap 5/5 who's scary to leave up, but not enough to make a high tier deck out of.

Nah, they've got Hakkar, the Soulflayer's corrupted blood to deal with there.

  • BlizzCon 2020 Might be Cancelled Due to Coronavirus

they should just do something like a Nintendo Direct where they'll showcase the games and trailers.

But they'll still find a way to charge $50 for it so people can get the exclusive content for their blizz games

  • The Price Of Power - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Some more feedback for those who haven't submitted:

    Show Spoiler

CapnMunch - While there's nothing in the rules that explicitly states you have to create a collectible minion, I imagine most voters would prefer it anyway. That being said, this is an interesting play on Dr. Boom that's somewhat counteracted by what would happen in practice: you would just play this on an empty board and tank the minimal face damage in exchange for a 4/7/7.

Wailor - I like the 4/5/6 Shaman version of the Lich the best. I think Freezing the hand is interesting and unique, but it also doesn't make sense on a surface level of understanding; it might confuse some people.

Inconspicuosaurus - I think turn-2 Hero Power -> turn-3 Rebellious Recruit is a little too easy, and/or unnecessary if you can play the card without having to destroy something. The Devilsaur has a similar issue - you can just avoid playing stuff to circumvent the downside - but with the aura the downside persists to where you have to play around it.

Nirast - The Demolisher is very interesting, but unless you can sell it well I don't believe people will go for it. A lot of effort is required to grow the Demolisher to 15 Attack, and all the while you're wasting buffs and mana on a stat-stick that cannot affect the board. You can't even give it Taunt because the Immune will suppress it. I would just stick with Disloyal Mercenary.

Well, good for Standard, maybe not enough.

But this kinda kills Odd DH.

For now, but over time DH will get more odd cards for people to give the archtype a try again.

Or you could always try Even DH for that 1 mana hero power ;P

So did anybody have any success with this card? Especially in Wild?

I have been trying him in Evenlock, and truth is I either win or lose before I can actually draw Kanrethad Prime (literally, I have yet to see the card in my hand).

Cubelock can hardly find any serious room for him.

I guess I'll switch to Zoolock but I am afraid the card doesn't really have any serious impact in any meta-viable deck, given the opposite synergies of its two forms...

    Any experiences with him?

I only played Standard, but he's an amazing finisher in Plot twist lock. Currently trying to find the best way to make that deck work (I think dragons are the way to go, Plot twist only as a side mechanic basically) but Kanrethad puts in a lot of work. While I'm still a bit too slow in the early game against Demon Hunters and their burn it works as a great value engine against decks like Libram Paladin.

If you run Zephrys and Alex and this you're basically guaranteed a powerful finisher and punish any opponent that doesn't manage to clear multiple boards of big minions.

Enhanced Dreadlord is honestly such a powerful pull from this it can basically end games on its own (unless you die right after). Ocasionally the base effect also comes into play if you play him after a boardclear to maybe get a dreadlord out faster.

That's what I've been messing with too. I unpacked a golden version of Kanrethad Ebonlocke, so really hoping to make him work.

Dark Portal might be too slow and at this point I'm very tempted to just drop Sac PAct because DH isn't as common anymore and no other class really uses demons, and handsize is always a concern.

I was also considering just dropping the Quest altogether. It rarely comes online early enough to matter and not running it gives some incentive to go for Zzeraku (who I feel is very underrated as a finisher, especially in a deck that reaches fatigue very early)

Maybe try to use brains and counter it before whining. Trust me, it's more effective.

    Finnaly someone with brains
yeah i am also not a fan of DH but i am even more not a fan of is a nerf after just a expansion is out
I thinkt they do it to fast and if they waited the counter would be there
its a new class ofcourse most people play it

Usually I feel the same way, but way too often I've been highrolled by an early Antean followed by the shivara, or vice versa. The only "counter" to that is either play a high pressure deck, or throw your resources away to usually just die on the board so that your hero doesn't die.

That really wasn't a great counter during the midrange turns of the game. Making it slightly slower/more awkward to slam down with little consideration should give more opportunities for real counter play.
